What do you think? I put up a poll.

I mean it is Disney after all. We see a lot of original songs for many movies. So why not Star Wars for a change.

Have we already forgot our great Life Day songs?

Done right. It will work. Either via a character or just a theme song with the credits.Average people sing. People sing to themselves. They sing to their children. They sing at parties. They sing at funerals. They sing at sporting events. They sing during war.

It would be hard to imagine all these future Star Wars movies coming out where we are told characters are now the main focus and no one ever sings.

No song whatsoever, just stick with orchestra and chorus. Just let me bask in the glory of Williams' Star Wars music once again. :oldrazz:

Been there, done that. Let's never do it again.

hmmm.. I think I should of explained it better.

I am taking about a serious song, done seriously with dramatic undertones. I am sure if I explained it better that way perhaps more would vote for it?
Maybe at a funeral for a certain character or something and it is in their culture/religion to sing a certain song to honor the fallen hero.

Or Perhaps there is a squad of x-wings pilots and they are going into a battle where they are 90% sure they will all die. And in order to calm themselves while dealing with this tremendous fear, one of the pilots begins to sing a very interesting song - which could be a very popular song sung within the Republic - other pilots start to sing it too right as they are flying into on coming fire.

But I completely agree about a "Disney vibe" song often found in Disney cartoons. or the Holiday special Wookie love day song. I don't mean a song like that. It should fit within the sci-fi fantasy and be dramatic and compelling.
I think Star Wars is close to The Lord of the Rings in many ways, and the Pippin song still gives me goosebumps every time I watch and listen to it. I mean that was done right. If they can do it correctly, I think it can really bring out the heart and soul from the characters.

LOTR and SW have similarities but the singing is not one of them. Singing in the films and EU have been minimal. I mean you have stuff from Jabba's palace and the Ewoks. But with alien language it works more. In terms of a straight up song, no. That's not SW. LOTR is filled with songs and poems from Tolkien, that was a huge part of LOTR, it is not a part of SW. So my vote is no. Alien songs in bars or places ya that works, but not english made songs. John's score is more than enough.

Agreed

Star Wars isn't "LOTR in space"

No, we understand your point. We just don't understand how anyone who has seen any Star Wars would think this is a god idea. :funny:
