Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

I'm waiting for a used copy of this game to pop up at Gamestop, but until then, my only beef with the game's demo was the targeting system. Is there any way to switch from one object to the next GTA style? or is it a kind of random face the right direction thing?

I found the targeting system to be fine, maybe you just have piss poor eye hand coordination?
maybe you just have a high tolerance for broken gameplay? The Force Unleashed should have been released as a budget title and is one of the worst Star Wars games in recent years.

All the cutscenes are on Youtube. And wow. The story really IS amazing. But one question....when during the 20 years in between III and IV is this set? I'd assume a few years after III given the [BLACKOUT]Death Star's appearance[/BLACKOUT] and I'd imagine [BLACKOUT]the Rebellion wouldn't take THAT long to form up but Leia's age kind of suggests its closer to IV's time. [/BLACKOUT]

I'm going to guess Leia is around 15/16 in this game (I know she looks older but that's just the developers fault.)

Starkillers family crest being the Rebel Alliance logo I thought was a really nice touch.

To the right of the cell is a circular object that's glowing blue that you raise to shut off the poison flow to the room.

The game takes place two years before Episode IV, well at least the game ends, two years before Episode IV.

Hey can someone please tell me what you do right after you beat Proxy as Darth Maul? Like im stuck in this lil room and no doors will open and theres like an elevator shaft thing that will not let me jump in it.
(edit)
Nevermind. Damn I feel so stupid i come in the other room for 5 minutes and my little sister figures it out. I cant believe i didnt think of forse push

Darth Maul? my god. Im never coming here again. damn spoilers.

Yea, i feel its a must own for Star Wars fans due to the importance of the story. Once you play through the game, youll understand. It was such a GREAT story.

a must rent, maybe... but i'm not shelling out $60 for a 7-8 hour campaign... especially not one who's average score is a 7.

Just finished this. It took my all of two school days to beat with relatively little hair-pulling. I thought the game was, overall, resoundingly mediocre. We were, basically, told this was going to be the Star Wars game to end all Star Wars games. From a story perspective, I'd say this is absolutely true. Comparing this to Revenge of the Sith makes the latter look like child's play, particularly the elements of the game that tie up the majority of the loose ends left by Revenge.

From a visual perspective, I was pleasantly surprised. I've had my eye on the Euphoria Technology for just about two and a half years now, with the announcement of, what had been tentatively titled, "Indiana Jones 2007" in 2006. When development shifted from everyone's favorite whip-wielder, to a Star Wars title, I was pissed. However, the technology itself works quite well, I think. I really found the "Force Grip" ability to be the only one where the Force itself was truly "unleashed." That was closest I got to feeling like I Was using the force, particularly in regards to objects and characters interacting with each other, the sole purpose of the Euphoria engine.

I was disappointed with the gameplay as a whole, to be honest. It seemed very repetitive to me, borderline button-mashing. From the time I played the demo, I understood that the camera sucked. It seemed to me that it just couldn't keep up; or, at the very least, became a distraction when I lost made a sharp turn. The targeting system, I thought was fine for the majority of the game. There were times, however, notably in the [Blackout]Star Destroyer[/blackout] scene and [blackout]first portion of the Death Star[/blackout] battle, where I found myself pounding my thigh because the damned targeting system was locking onto a crate or other device when I wanted it to hit an [blackout]AT-AT[/Blackout] or [blackout]incoming TIE Fighter[/blackout]. Other than those two instances, I didn't find the targeting computer to be so obtrusive or difficult to manage.

Graphics were great, sound was accurate, and the score was fitting with the Star Wars Universe. Not a bad game, by any means, but not one that I'll be hooked on for months, â la Spider-Man 2.

If you're a Star Wars completist, pick it up. If not, rent it and enjoy electrocuting people.

Also, guys. Try and keep the snideness and sarcasm down to a dull roar. :oldrazz: At least let's have some civility.

Did you even play half the Star Wars games that have been released recently? KotOR 2? Battlegrounds? Freaking Star Wars Lego?

Even if the price is pretty steep and even if the game is short I've still had a ton of fun with it. I haven't had any major problems with the game play and comparing this game to other Star Wars game is like comparing a Mustang to a Pinto.

I mean if you don't like the game that's fine, not everyone will but you have to admit that it's got some great features that really are head and shoulders above other SW games.

I disagree with that completely. This is a terrific game and its worth adding to your collection. Its an essential part of the Star Wars lore. I dont know how many times iv gone back to watch the movies, play some of the games and now that i have this game, I'm sure ill be returning to it many times.

People keep saying how this game is short, yet its no shorter than other games thats been released that have been highly regarded by fans and the industry in general(ie Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, which by the way is one of the best games this gen).

I beat this game in a little over 8 hours, but i failed to collect at least 5 holocrons on each level and failed to do some of the bonus objectives. I think some of the reason people are running through it so fast is because of the fantastic story. Once you start the game, you just dont wanna stop and ya really want to find out what happens next.

No offense but that seems kind of lame. If the game is $60 worth of fun does it really matter whether it lasts a long time? I would much rather play a game that's really really fun for a weekend or a week than play a 60 + hour game that isn't fun.

I think with SW:TFU you get what you pay for. You might not get it in the amount of time you play but you definitely get it in the amount of fun you have.

I do see both of your points though, money doesn't grow on trees and most people can't afford to pick up every game that they kinda want. If you're only able to get one game every month or even every other month you might want to drop your dime on Too Human, it's not as much fun as Force Unleashed but it'll probably play longer.

I buy games for longevity. If I know I can beat the game in a few days, I rent it and play the hell out of it in that given time. Then if I feel I need more, I rent it again. Ten dollars is better than sixty. Y'all say it is all good, and I believe you, but I can't get around the longevity. Any game can be so fun for the first weeks to first month, but after that, then what?

And I think y'all mean Battlefront, not Battlegrounds.
