Star Wars

I'm still hopeful we're gonna get a Christmas release of the Saga Boxset though. I just can't see LFL not releasing anything to tie in with the 30th Anniversary! It'd be good timing too imo, as The Force Unleashed would follow in Spring along with the TV shows.

And Liam Neeson is a beast.

He really does, he just doesn't look like Yoda at all. The OT puppet is FAR better! Puppet Yoda really stands out as an eye sore in the PT now considering how good the CG model looked in episodes 2 and 3.

Not sure what this image is from, but it's damn cool

I just saw this thread and had to comment.
Just yesterday I went to the The Science of Star Wars exhibit at my local museum. It is touring the country right now, and I couldn't miss it. They had lots of props and costumes from the movie and give you examples of how real world science is is being applied in a similar direction. It is supposed to be educational, but for a SW fan it is simply kinda fun.

Check it out if you get the chance.

On the movies..because I was going to the exhibit, last week started watching all of the movies in episodic order. I am still of the opinion that the newer films can't beat the originals. The originals just have such as sense of adventure and fun that somehow the newer films couldn't capture. It proves that special effects are not the most important thing in a film. In fact, I think I would personally rate them in this order.

1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. A New Hope
3. Return of the Jedi
4. Revenge of the Sith
5. The Phantom Menace
6. Attack of the Clones

I know a lot of people just slam Phantom Menace, and yes both Jake Loyd and Jar Jar are equally annoying...but Liam Neeson is unbeatable, the Pod race is such an intense scene, and it has in my opinion the best and grittiest light saber duel out of the whole saga (Ray Park really elevates that scene).

I am old enough to have seen all of the films in theater during the original run, although I was pretty young during Star Wars and think I slept through most of it. I definitely remember Empire and Jedi. In fact, I saw Jedi opening day and to this day, I can't watch the films without hearing the crowd cheer in the back of my mind.

These films changed movies forever and should hold a special place.

Lucasfilm's Steve Sansweet will be appearing at a 30th anniversary convention in Plano, TX, near the end of October. You can find the full details right here.

I saw that last night. That's an hour away from me, so I'm waiting to see who else is on the guest list before deciding to go.

Why'd you do something like that?

:oldrazz:

Atleast it wasn't AOTC, I don't even think that movie's in my top 100 favorite movies, while TPM is in the top 20.

The boxset's not going to be released this year because of poor sales of the original (crap quality) OT DVDs.

Very cool homage to one of the all-time classic comicbook covers.

It's a monthly comicbook, but it's such a great visual it's better than 99% of movie posters. Imagine if they used it for X4 (with the actors), it would be incredibly cool.

Star wars sucks

And I'm a ridiculously huge star wars fan, so that's painful to say. It's just burned itself out now and become star trek.

Yeah cause Lucas is now making a Star Wars cartoon and live action tv show. Don't be surprised if he digitally makes Episode 7, 8, and 9 too.

Lucas has become an unoriginal hack who does nothing but milk Star Wars to death.

Geek!! :cwink:

You're absolutely right though. Star Wars was legendary as three films, and a few easily forgettable spin-offs. But with three lesser-quality prequels, major TV shows and such and such, not only is it overkill, but the general quality of Star Wars decreases.

Plus, part of the magic of Star Wars is that the viewer imagines the mystical back story, the mysterious Jedi Knights, the huge space battles. Having every f****** detail rendered in CGI does not make Star Wars more potent, Lucas. It just destroys the viewers' imagination.

Not to sound like a snob, but the last time I checked, movies are about the film maker's imagination. :o
