A new series would probably go a long way for them.
But, considering how in the gutter the SW franchise is, Star Trek is currently ontop of the hill with the films alone. In truth, and I'm speaking as someone whose been a Star Wars fan longer than a Star Trek fan (I just recently became one, I guess)...Star Trek has been winning for quite a while now.
If you want to compare the previous two Star Wars films to the previous Star Trek films...I think even the most jaded Star Trek fan, and maybe a honest Star Wars fan like me, can agree it's not even close.
I like both universes, but I think Star Wars has an uphill battle.
