Why do you hate Camille so much? What failures? I thought she proved she was every bit a capable leader as Young was. Young had a couple of moments this episode where he lost his cool, but Camille was always calm and composed.

because she's pathetic, that scene where she met with Kiva pretty much summed it all up. She keeps going on and on about leadership, when she lacks all of the personality needed to lead.

t'was a good finale. I'm gonna leave it at that.

SGU has been a rollercoaster in this first season. Episodes 1-10 were pretty sub par, even for your standard Stargate average. They were grasping at character development straws, and it didn't work.

SGU episodes 11-20 were for the most part fantastic.

I give the series a thumbs up now... but this show would have earned a gold medal, had the writers/producers put a little more effort into the opening arc of the show.

my only real question is this: why are all these people on Destiny, and why do they want to be there? What is the motivation for sending expeditions to this 'ghost ship'? Both the Tau'ri and the Lucian Alliance have destroyed two planets, and killed countless people to get to the Destiny, for what? It certainly doesn't feel as useful as Atlantis, so why are people trying to get to Destiny? 'Because it is there' won't suffice as an answer for me.

there needs to be some sort of reason why both faction would be sending people zillions of lightyears away from home, with uncertain chances of returning home. What is it?

The Tau'ri went there without knowing what was on the other side so they get a pass on being there. As for the Lucian Alliance... I have to admit that I can't understand why they wanted to go to that ship knowing that there was no way to return to the Milky way galaxy.

As for the season finale I have to say that I disagreed with the decision that Young made but then he seems to be locked into a spiral of bad decision making. Other then that the episode was fairly good but this series really needs to pick things up in season two because if things continue along this path I will stop watching.

I would like to see the crew realise their roles and function as a proper unit in season 2 rather than fighting amongst one another like kindergarten children.

how is it that the SGC gets a pass? It's very simple, what is the importance of Destiny, and why send people there? What is telling people that they should go there? What on Destiny is so important, that sending expiditions there is vital?

Even the SGC needs a reason to go.

They didn't know what the ninth chevron did so its perfectly natural for them to investigate this function of the stargates. If they had managed to explore Destiny via remote probes and such they might well have decided against sending a manned mission to the ship, at the very least they wouldn't have gone through with it without being sure that they could resupply the ship.

The ninth chevron could have let to something much more important then the Destiny, its just a shame that it didn't :)

that's a 'because it is there' argument, I won't accept that. Hope the writers realize this

Why would you need anything more than a "because it is there," though? The ninth chevron leads somewhere, and wherever that is, it probably has loads of technology that Earth could exploit. That's always been the drive of the SGC: explore, find new technology, and exploit it for Earth's defense. People have always been passionate about it, so why is it a surprise that Rush was passionate enough about what lay behind the ninth chevron to strand everyone else on Destiny when he found a way to get to it? Sorry that's not enough for you, but "because it is there" has practically been the SGC's mission statement from day one.

Destiny is important because most of the Ancient tech Earth currently has is way too advanced to reverse engineer, destiny being older helps divide that huge leap in technology between earths and ancients. Also remember that 90% of the ship is unexplored aswell as them not having accessed the database yet, who knows what secrets the ship holds, having travelled through as many galaxies as it has and being as old as it is, I'm guessing there's alot for them to learn.

Great finale. I actually really enjyoed it and I love the new enemy. They actually seem like a threat for once.

My biggest complaint is young dude who sometimes leads off world missions. I don't remember his name...but he's just so green that it's annoying. They need to toughen him out. He's in space now, fighting bad guys. Leave the bottle at home and take charge. The Colon isn't always gonna be there to hold his hand.

Lieutenant Matthew Scott? Yeah, he does seem a bit naive at times. But he was in the seminary before joining the Air Force, so I suppose a strong moral compass is to be expected. I think he's going to take the position as the crew's conscience, similar to how Daniel used to be SG-1's conscience.

Ah, good point.
I guess for some reason I am stuck on the thought that he's supposed to be the strong male lead for the SG teams that go out. But I guess he is more the moral compass...I guess the strong figure would be Greer. I guess someone has to be there to keep him in line. :)

On a side note...I like the fact that I think Camile is starting to realize that diplomancy isn't always as clean and efficient as she seemed to hold her beliefs too. Obviously things can still get messy, based on the dead and bloody soldier being dragged in front of her.

Some questions about the 9th Chevron and Destiny:
1. Is it on all the gates?
2. Does it only dial Destiny?
3. Why does it take so much more power to dial it than the others?
4. Why hasn't SG-1 (given their contact with the Asgardians and Ancients) learned a lot more than they know now about it and Destiny?
5. Did Destiny start its journey from our solar system? (I forgot what they said in one of the episodes)
6. What is the point of sending a ship like Destiny going deeper into space forever? It's not like a probe that is sending data back to whomever sent it out and they can learn from it. In the time the ship has been traveling the people that sent it figured out how to be beings with god-like knowledge and ascendance. The ship and the gates would seem pointless at that point.

1: I think the 9th chevron is on all gates

2: Interesting question, I don't remember exactly what they said about how they got the address but I´m assuming it came from the ancient database. Nothing has been said about other destinations being possible with it, I think the only speculation so far has been that the ninth is needed to create a connection to a moving target.

3: Distance. Destiny is supposed to be billions of light years away and the only other gate that handled those kind of distances was the Ori super gate.

4: Nothing definite here but most likely the ancients just wrote Destiny off as a failed experiment or an obsolete one. The asgards might simply not have been curious about it, they were never shown to be great explorers.

5: No idea, makes sense that it did at least start in the milky way.

6: See number 4, the ancients sent this out before ascension became their main objective and were most likely planning on sending out boarding teams at some point and might in fact have done so. The ancients never seemed to shut down or destroy their toys even after they were finished with them and might therefore simply have decided to let the ship go on until it failed.

Commander Kiva, is amazing and my favorite character on SGU. I cannot express how much I love her. Now only if more of the SGU characters were as awesome as her!

I bet you she doesn't survive, leaving the wounded second in command as the LA leader aboard ship.

Does seem pretty standard Stargate. The human sympathizer winds up in charge and everything works out okay.

there's that, and Mitra probably fetches a hefty bill for her services. (and lets face her, he true 'assets' are wasted on SGU)

True. I'd be surprised if she can still command much of a sum for appearing, though. When was the last time she was on anything remotely noteworthy? Boston Legal, like 6 or 7 years ago?

Not really "noteworthy" in my book, but she's in that new vampire show on ABC that I am not even remotely interested in (and I am a TV maniac). [The Gates]

Oh, right, the vampire version of Desperate Housewives. That looks incredibly stupid.

The Gates are about vamps I thought it was about werewolves. I'll still check it out eventually summer is flooded with reality tv and I loathe reality tv. BTW the next season on SGU if Eli isn't getting any of that chick I'm gonna be pissed. He carried her wounded ass all over that ship. Then she knew how he felt that whole time wtf?

Chubby guy will not even see a tenth of Cloe flesh, I bet it. She's too much into Lt Scott and maybe too "girly -girl" state of mind as well ( IMO ).
I call this kind of character The Burden for they only bring problems because of their stupidy :)

Gates TV show stars Rhona Mitra and is a kind of Desparate Housewives with vamps, I get it right ? I must check it.

Eli's not gonna f*** Chloe. Chloe pretty much said it straight out in one part of the finale: She sees Eli as a true friend, which he thinks is a consolation prize. Mostly because it is.

Yeah, Chloe is a *****. Eli should have airlocked her useless @$$.

Eli has a better chance with James then Chloe. The only way Eli will ever have a shot with Chloe is if Scott died & or left the show
