In Trek, subspace is a layer or continuum that exists within the universe (almost like another layer). This is the most accessible definition I've found for Trek subspace:

So, in subspace communications, it's not like a wormhole is opened, or space is folded, and a transmission is sent through. Subspace is actually being used as the transmission medium because subspace signals are being sent.

I always look at subspace as the same kind of concept as babylon 5 'hyperspace'. It's another dimension where the literal distance between things is much smaller (or visa versa, the velocities are much greater).

yep, think it's getting better and better aswell :).

indeed, it is gettting better and better... but I only think that is because of where the first half of the season left us. (it's easier to get better, when what was served up before was pretty weak)

Good episode yesterday. I think we have discussed this before but for some reason it struck me again. So it is okay to have sex while using the stones?

I like how the relationship between TJ and Young is developing. I also like the social dynamics of the rest of the crew.

So what happened to Dr. Franklin? Did he get merged into the ship's AI? It would be cool if they had a "man on the inside" to help them take greater control of the ship.

I also don't understand how Scott, Chloe, and Eli gated back to the ship when they made it clear that it was too far from the planet now and also in FTL? That whole thing seems strange to me. Even Eli says that he thought the people on Destiny dialed their gate. Maybe I'm missing something and if not, I hope they explain it further. Otherwise it will be a lame way to get those three characters back on the ship.

Distance wasn't the problem, FTL was the problem. The problem was when Destiny was going to next drop out of FTL (if too late, it would be too far away (ie. in another galaxy)). Just so happened that when Destiny dropped out of FTL, it was still close enough. But I agree, t'was a little convenient

I would not say it's ok to have sex while using the stones. It is strange the topic on the show was not brought up. Sure that girl wanted to have sex with Rush, but I am sure Camile would have felt pretty violated.

I know I Wouldnt want someone from Destiny to take my body over on earth and when I get back to it I have 20 STD's lol

As for Eli and crew getting back...they couldn't dial the ship because it went into FTL, and when it was going to come out of FTL it would have been way to far away.

Since it came out of FTL prematurely and was still close enough to the gate, that device Eli had with him told him the Gate on Destiny was now available to be dialed.

I found the last episode to be boring, there was no sense of suspense and the episode just plotted along until there was a brief and poorly done battle.

Man, I knew I forgot to resubscribe to a thread during the recent purge. :p

I actually really liked the last episode. Some solid guest actors (Mitra, and her second in command), combined with SGC cameos, and an actually really interesting plot.

Hopefully Mitra and her assitant make it to destiny, the show needs one more ultra hottie.

The first half of this season was absolute garbage, not worth the toilet paper I use to wipe with. But since the break, this show has stepped up. I'd say it's twice as good now, as it was with it's opening arc of episodes.

If Caprica improves in the same way, Scifi will be back among the more favored channels for me again.

P.S. I wanna kick Camille Wray in the vagina... she's so annoying

I would rather ([BLACKOUT]CENSORED[/BLACKOUT]) Camille Wray in the vagina..even if she is annoying :hehe:

Anyways good episode. This show has come a long way. Sure there have been some more boring "character building" episodes but that is to be expected. Also they are going for a more.. realistic approach (well as realistic as one could get I suppose). Good show.

And considering all my other shows are either about to end for good or will be going into their last year of production I need at least one show to watch.

in the same boat, the only tv I watch regularly now is on friday night. Programing on every other night has evaporated.

I agree with what you said: except that the boring character building episodes were, for a lack of a better word, a pathetic attempt. Generally, it was all a little too cliche.

But, now that we are free of that, things are quite a lot more enjoyable to watch. I highly doubt that they could get Mitra on the show as a regular, but I suspect the Lucian Alliance second in command dude, might just make it to destiny and join the crew (this guy, the actor, has been around, and is a Vancouver staple, he'd be a good option for a regular on the series)

Yup. Good episode of Communication Stones: Universe this week.

Subversion was a darn good Epi.... missed RDA's humour on the show BIG TIME.

far as i know.... not till next season....but it's possible he'll appear in the 2-part finale when it airs in 2 weeks

Good episode. I was kinda hoping they'd take the Galatica approach and just jettison that Colonel out of an airlocke but alas this is a different show. Still good nonetheless.

It would not have been very logical to toss Dr.Rush's body out a airlock.
Venting the room (scare tactic) it a lot different than tossing someone into space (killing them).

on a slightly different note... if any Brits are able to get to the Excel Centre in London either Saturday or Sunday... both Jamal Walker Smith and Alaina Huffman will be attending a Expo...

Good finale.

What I'd like/disliked/and hope to see in when the show returns:
Telford surviving. Ever since his brainwashing was removed, he has been an awesome character. I also like the close relationship between him and Young.

Rhona Mitra's face looks like a badly molded plastic face. She is also a terrible actress.

I'm sure TJ will lose the baby but she will survive.

Young was a *****e ranting like a madman to get things fixed, pronto. I know he was under a lot of stress but his demands on the science team is unreasonable.

I liked the Eli/Chloe scenes but overall it seemed kind of pointless. I was hoping they would find something really cool (like a robot suit or something) and Eli would save the day.

I hate Camille Wray even more now. I hope she does get killed so that she has to live with her failures.

I think some of the Lucian Alliance guys will join the Destiny "team". Maybe they can teach the SG guys a little something about fighting.

I enjoy this show but for some reason it is just unremarkable. I will forget about this show until October when it comes back.

I can't wait for Eureka and Warehouse 13 to start up again.

Why do you hate Camille so much? What failures? I thought she proved she was every bit a capable leader as Young was. Young had a couple of moments this episode where he lost his cool, but Camille was always calm and composed.
