Giant space whales? Don't remember reading about them in and space books.

Besides what LadyVader already posted, there's also that episode in Voyager where they had to find a way to lose this organism that was sucking on Voy's energy, thinking the ship was its mother. That thing was very 'whale-esque.'

That was TNG.

But Voyager did encounter the 'Pitcher-Plant' creature. It made you see what you wanted most so it could suck your ship in and it eat.

What the hell is that?! :wow:

Those were the adventures of the Galaxy Rangers!!!

[theme song]No guts no glory, we're taking a staaaand, ready to dooo it agaaaaaaain...[/theme song]

Indeed. Also, Ion, the Green Lantern mascot, was a space whale. Apparentely. Or maybe Universe will go the way of the space cockroach! :)

Damn. Got that one mixed up good. That's what comes from watching seasons of both shows around the same time on the same station (Spike TV).

No problem. I've watched way too many Star Trek reruns in my life.

It got to the point where I could pretty much tell which TNG episode it was by watching any five or six seconds. Any. (Except for the shots where it's just the Enterprise floating by the camera, of course. ;))

I love all the talk of how SGU sounds like Star Trek Voyager, but Voyager was just Red Dawrf but not as funny.

I got caught up.

The Shrine nearly had me crying.

And the Zombie episode was good. It was nice to see Beckett again. And it had the 2nd Dax from DS9 who is still looking hot!

The crew of Atlantis say Thank you

http://stargate-sg1-solutions.com/blog/?p=1591

With tremendous grace and humility, members of the cast of Stargate Atlantis said “thank you” to their fans in a brief video put together by the Canadian SPACE network. The actors recognized the tremendous role fans have played in the longevity of the television show, and Joe Flanigan stated his concern, “I hope that the fans—I hope that they don’t feel disrespected in any way.” Each actor (Joe Flanigan, Rachel Luttrell, Paul McGillion, David Hewlett, Amanda Tapping, and Robert Picardo) took the time to thank fans for their years of loyalty and support.
Current co-showrunner Joseph Mallozzi said, “Our ratings were up for Season Five, so we were kind of hopeful and cautiously optimistic. And then, obviously, when we got word that we weren’t coming back, we were bummed.” Amanda Tapping also stated that she was surprised by the decision to cancel the show.
Near the end of the video, Robert Picardo tried to cheer up everyone, “Look at the bright side: We’re going to be making Atlantis direct-to-video movies, and they’re going to be exciting and cool.” Right after Picardo’s clip, Atlantis creator and producer Brad Wright said, “That’s as good as it gets, if you think about it, for a writer/producer.”

That was incredibly nice of them and you can view the video here.http://www.spacecast.com/videoplayer_5547.aspx

that was a great episode. Maybe one of Atlantis' best. I think my only real negative comment, is that the concept of Taela as queen was really good... and perhaps it should have lasted longer than a single serving episode. A good 1/4 season with her as an infiltrator would have been really interesting. It would have been a great way to advance the fight against the wraith, but also give some interesting insight into who the wraith are (there was a little of that in this episode,,, but a couple more would be better)

good epi, especially after last week, when I zoned out after about five minutes

I was hoping the Wraith DNA would take Taela over and she would be removed from my sight....I find her annoying....

her and ronan are the only 2 I find interesting, although lately she has been too much the liberal cheerleader on the show, Rodney I've seen too much of already.

but I do agree with you. Coupled with my comment above, if they had to chance to extend the arc, Taela has to been queen for a while, begins to surcome to DNA.... 2 episodes later, she is rescued by the gang, because her usefulness as an infiltrating queen runs out as she becomes more and more wraith. Or something like that.

I just liked the concept of the episode, but that these things are made more significant when they last a little longer than an episode.

I like that it seems to have a balance between civilians and military personnel....I'm hoping for more of an explorer vibe as opposed to a military expedition vibe....

I like that one person's comment.

Micheal Shanks, Amanda Tapping, and Christopher Judge were all in their 20's when SG-1 started. Makes me a little less apprehensive about 'going younger'.

you do know that that comment is complete ********?

Tapping was 32
Judge was 30-Smething
Shanks was 28

Hell the youngest main actor in SG-1/SG:A was Rainbow Sun Franks and he was 25..... and look what happened to him.

Not one of these..... characters insipres me with and confidence in SGu at all

did you ever think that the producers are thinking long term? if the show lasts you have actors who can keep up phyiscally? part of me was irritated when Tapping got knocked up because they had to ship her to Area 51 for 2 months of the season

Shanks was 26, actually. :D

Chloe Capenter: Why is she even here? There's nothing in that description to suggest she's in the military. How the hell did she get involved with the SGC and end up on an off-world mission?

please don't let her be a cliche(in stargate? never! ;) ) stowaway that can't go home now
