Stargate SG-1/Atlantis/Universe

The problem I always have with the city is that it never feels that big. I dont think they do a good enough job showing that people are actually pretty far away sometimes in different parts.

agreed. Infact, I'm kind of dissappointed that the city has not become more populated. I mean, there's supposed to be the huge culling going on, with wraith waking early and being REALLY hungry. There should still be planets being destroyed left right and center. One would think that as the people responsible for beginning this latest massacre, that Atlantis would be acting as shelter, being filled and explored by those people displaced by the cull. People like Tea'la's peops. And the Genai, I thought it would be really interesting if the Genai were to be exposed, with them seeking shelter (and swearing allegiance to) at Atlantis etc.

Simply put: Atlantis is the Deep Space Nine of the Stargate universe, and it should feel like it is a place that gets busier and busier as the show progresses.

And by the way, have we seen the wraith lately, or have they been relegated to only season finales and premiers?

So who saw The Shroud last night?

Personally, I think the Daniel/O'Neill dialogues stole the show, as usual. And it was nice for O'Neill to kind of miss the old days, hear him constantly whine about how he used to be the one that got people to worry, istead of him worrying about other people. :)

Michael Shanks easily went from being extremely creepy to being very funny, which is not easy under all that make-up.

While I liked everyone's contributions in this episode, it kinda felt pointless. Seriously, the great defeat of the Ori happens off-screen!? This is the freakin Ori... THE villain to end all villains and we just shove a bomb through a gate and that's the end of it?

Horrible horrible conclusion to the whole "ultimate weapon" story-arc. Daniel goes through all this crap and in the end Vala can finish the damn weapon... VALA!?

In conclusion, let me just give mad-props to Daniel Jackson, who's getting it on with a mother and a daughter at this point. I don't think even Kirk can say that.

Here's to Daniel... the prior-slash-PIMP.

Has anyone heard news about the third siries that's supposed to come out?

All i know is that they are looking into doing a third series that would be based around our time (not a future or past show) and that nothing has been decided yet.

Morena Baccarin looks god damn gorgeous in this show. Much better than she ever did on Firefly.

But she's even more wooden than she was on Firefly.

The highschool reunion episode was great. Every Vala momment was fantastic. Especially when she told Cam's buddy about her husband. Brilliant epi.

Bounty was brilliant. I'm quite p*ssed that i missed Dr Lee pulling at the conference:cmad:

Loved the Vala/Cam moments and my father actually lol-ed at the bit where cam fell off his chair (He rarely laughes at SG).

The two things that i didn't like were the bad coverup that they did to the reunion attendees and the fact that yet another Deluise got a role on SG-1. I make that four or five of them now.

SG-A's First Strike was actually better than (dare i say it) The Seige trilogy. That CGI sequence of the Horizon platform launching was the best bit of CGI i've seen in SG-A period.

Just recently started catching up on both series (started watching a few months back), and I'm now at the end of season 8 for SG-1 and the end of season 1 for Atlantis.

My general impression of SG-1 is that it's great. I really love it. But it also has some rather annoying flaws, most obvious being the fact that races that have never been in contact with the english language all speak it, except when the plot requires them to not speak it (like with the Unas just for instance). Secondly, since I consider myself pretty well read on physics and whatnot, half of the time Sam says something that's supposed to reference real science (mentioning Einstein, or Schroedinger, etc) I can't help but roll my eyes, since it doesn't ring true to me.
Also, the first season or so of the series was pretty much terrible. Luckily I've had experience with scifi-series, so I know they usually start out that way...

In general the Stargate series also have the types of episodes I've been missing since new Star Trek stopped being made... with aliens, and a lot of episodic "concept" stories.

Now I dont know much at all about physics but from what I know SG1 is very well researched on that front and when it comes to what Carter talks about both the writers and Amanda Tapping herself read up a lot on it first.

this weeks episode was good. But, I'm sure I've seen this episode before, the one where Teal'c goes on a solitary mission of revenge.

it wasn't the greatest episode of SG1, but it had some great momments. The little girl who was like "my father says they are cowards and must pay with their lives", that was awesome. The fight between Mitchell and Teal'c was cool, but short. And the way Teal'c ended up killing the villain was awesome (although the fight was a little too one sided, and didn't really live up to previous teal'c fights in episodes like the Warrior).

Good, but not the greatest.

I hope that they don't just leave the season finale as an open ending, well, atleast not a fully open ending. I hope they resolve something in the finale.

Bounty was definately the best standalone episode in literally years. Most filler episodes are just that, filler episodes.

Atlantis has been boring the second half of this season. I don't even remember the first half it's been so long.

I'm afraid i'm going to disagree with you on Atlantis.

Yes there have been three duds in the second half ( Vengence, The Game and The Ark) but the rest have been brilliant.

The second half of SG-1, on the other hand, has been quite pityful.

SG1 > SGA, ALWAYS, but I agree, SG1 got a rotten deal with their cancellation, and should have been given a little respect, and a season to wrap up the main narratives of their show.

The episodes they are showing now, SHOULD NOT be those that the series exits on (even if they get direct to TV movies in the future, the series itself should not end like this.) They are decent, but not what one would expect for the final run of a 10 season show.

don't even get me started on SGA, The only thing that makes it interesting, is that it is based in the same universe as Stargate, and so I can dork out whenever there is a tie between properties. But otherwise, the show is sub par. And nothing compared to sg1

SGA has been superior to SG-1 overall in stories until recently. Let's not be ridiculous. SG-1 has been subpar for many many years now.

I disagree, SG1 has always had better stories, and the the only thing that Atlantis has over SG1 is budget

BSG is a piece of garbage. That show has the most annoying characters in the history of scifi tv.

Regarding SG1 vs Atlantis
Let's see how atlantis holds up after 10 seasons, m'kay?

Regarding Sg1 vs everybody else

SG1 is great as a fun sci-fi series that doesn't take itself too seriously, but it wouldn't be here today... heck, most of the sci-fi series on TV, wouldn't be here today without Star Trek. :)
