Not every show is out to tell a finite story, though. Some, like SG-1 and Atlantis, just have a broad, overarching formula and come up with smaller stories within that frame. There's no reason Atlantis couldn't go on for another few years. Would it be the best show on television? Obviously not. But it would still be entertaining to a lot of people.
Oh well, I guess this means we'll all be waiting on Universe for the foreseeable future.
I was just getting at the idea that 100 episodes is a fair deal for any TV show. If they're good enough, then by all means, allow them to go on.
But I personally, would like the SG universe to go away for a little while. Much like Trek, things feel like they're getting a little stale. I don't know about you guys, but I could really go for 'the next sci fiction space opera'. Kind of the way SG replaced trek as the prime tv based scifi, I'm waiting for that next science fiction space opera that will replace SG. BSG was an option, but it's far deeper, and more involved that either Trek or SG, almost putting it in an entirely different league, and not the kind of thing that I'd flick to when I'm bored, surfing channels for something to watch(that's what simpleton shows like SG and Trek are perfect for)
