That's some good advice. This should work with the Classic too, shouldn't it?Have you tried resetting the battery?
Basically, drain it until empty. (And don't be fooled. Touches and phones go out before they completely drain, so you'll have to keep turning it back on until it stops coming back.) Then let it sit empty for a few hours. Then charge it back up to full, but don't touch it. And leave it plugged in and at full charge for a few hours before using it.
With Apple products, this sometimes can reset the battery to (near) original charge conditions. It might get you some more, or nothing. Depends how far gone the battery is. I used to add about an hour onto my Macbook's battery when I did that each month. Now I'm lucky to get anything extra.
