I really want to know what is going to happen to Telford. I really like the character now that he isn't a *****e bag.

The scene with Scott, Rush, and Grier in the gate production room was funny.

I was almost convinced Telford was going to put a bullet in his head. Especially when he found himself surrounded.

Well the aliens didn't do anything overtly aggressive, yeah the process of draining energy or whatever was reversed, but that could easily be because they wanted to protect themselves. And I'm sure Telford has been in worse situations. Ever since he got rid of his brainwashing, he seems more like O'Neill than Young, in the sense that he's not as morose and paranoid. I hope that won't change after more time spent on Destiny.

Telford is seen in an upcoming episodes Promo images...

Is it me, or has the show gotten a lot better since they scaled back the relationship drama about 2/3rds of the way into the first season? I was watching mainly out of loyalty to the Stargate brand for a while, but I'm genuinely finding this season compelling.

I have to agree with you TheCorpulent1. The relationship drama is still at the core of the narrative but now there is a balance with the mystery of Destiny and the aliens that are being introduced.

I hope they develop the other characters more, which we are going to get with Chloe tonight. Eli seems to have fallen into the background nowadays. He's not the wonder kid that he was in the beginning of the series.

Having two ships has really picked things up too. That's awesome! There's actually a chance we could have a split up of two crews which would be kind of neat.

I haven't noticed much relationship stuff at all. There's certainly character drama still, but it's more individuals struggling with various stresses rather than the Eli/Chloe/Scott triangle or Young/Telford/Young's wife/TJ thing. Rush's wife is appearing to him but that's more as a facet of his own mind--his better judgment, it seems (although she's not exactly pushing him away from exploring the Destiny's controls all alone). The focus seems to have shifted to more of an emphasis on individuals: Young crumbling under the pressure of trying to shoulder every burden on his own, TJ dealing with the loss of her baby, Rush dealing with the wall of secrets and mistrust he's built up around himself. Personally, I much prefer this direction.

I'm also very interested to see what becomes of the Lucian Alliance prisoners. I hope the redhead and the leader, at least, get to stick around. They'd make valuable additions to the crew and I like the idea of having a big mix of characters from various backgrounds--Earth military, Earth civilians, and now aliens.

Yeah, I also hope the leader and the redhead join the Destiny crew. There is definitely something building between TJ and the leader. I'm also wondering what is in store for Robert Knepper's character. He is a little well know actor to have just in the background.

I would love for Young and Telford to be #1 and #2, like Picard and Riker, but that would lower the dramatic tension they have on this show.

I was wondering, if the Destiny has been travelling for millions of years (that's with hyperdrive or whatever they call it) how old are the freaking Ancients? And if the technology on the ship is millions of years old how can our primitive technology interface with it? Just as an example, a windows 7 machine can't even use a 5 1/4 floppy disk or even use programs from the first versions of windows.

It's one thing to learn the language and use the system but it seems implausible that our technology would be compatible with something millions of years old.

The same way that every civilisation in the Stargate Universe just magically speaks english. :)

Recall that about half the crew from Earth are all incredibly experienced and highly trained engineers and scientists. You could absolutely use a 5 1/4" floppy disk with Windows 7 and create workarounds for earlier programs if you had the knowledge and inclination to program interfaces for all of that stuff. Technology is technology is technology; it all operates on the same principles if you get down to a basic enough level. And even with that basic truth and the crew's skills and Eli the wunderkind and Rush's substantial experience with Ancient technology and the SGC's combined experience with various kinds of alien technology for over a decade now, they're still barely figuring anything out on Destiny (well, before Rush's sci fi brain-download macguffin, anyway). I think Ancient technology is portrayed as suitably complex.

The Ancients are also millions of years old. Destiny was apparently launched just before they started looking into ascension.

i've heard rumors that...

Kneppers character will do something that will enrage Rush so much that revenge will replace Destiny as his sole focus

Interesting rumor...the only thing I could think that would enrage him would be to do something to that chick we met in season 1 (not his wife) perhaps...?

the theory is that it may have something to do with Park.... but as of now, it's not known what happens...

Last nights epi was awesome... great directing debut from Carlyle:word:

Rush you ****er.... using Chloe's...problem, and her fear at being locked up, to cover for the fact you want the bridge to yourself...

Eli.... damn glad his mum knows what's he's doing, and i get the feeling we may see Eli turning to Wray as a 'mother' figure on the ship now

Simeon is a *****e.... can't wait to see Greer go ape **** on his arse, that'll be fun to watch.

Great choice of music at the end... Einauldi?

I hate this Tuesday night schedule. I never remember it's on until it's already off. :(

I'll be curious with the Rodney cross over (btw, i'm super excited for this...Atlantis is actually my favorite series...as i've discovered with my second watch through)
He can figure out ancient tech on Atlantis...wouldn't he be "What, you didn't figure all this stuff out yet? Here let me show you" on Universe?

Or is Destiny much older than Atlantis?

It's older and probably the tech is a bit different. But McKay and Carter are, like, super-geniuses beyond anyone else the SGC has, so I'm sure he'll figure at least a few new things out (and be as condescending and obnoxious about it as he always is). :)

ooh! New theory. He discovers...

That Rush actually knows about the bridge when he's trying to figure out some of the ships systems...and then tells Young about it.

How the hell is Rodney going to function without coffee?! :wow: ;)

Pathogen ratings

SGU not even hitting a million viewers

http://www.gateworld.net/news/2010/10/stargates-live-ratings-drop-below-1-million/

The fourth Episode of Stargate Universe‘s second season made for the franchise’s first trip south of the 1 million mark for live viewing. “Pathogen” drew an estimated 974,000 viewers yesterday, according to sources at PIFeedback.com. This is a drop of over 20 percent from the previous week’s season high.
Caprica didn’t fare any better, following up at 10 p.m. with 718,000 viewers. Like SGU, it’s a series-low for the Battlestar Galactica spin-off.

That's what happens when you try and compete with the big boys. I understand that it's their best shows, but they need to just accept their lot in life, and put up old and/or cheap movies that don't cost them a lot to air during the times that the big guns are showing, and maximize SGU and Caprica by showing them on Fridays like they used to do with SGU. There's a reason that Sanctuary is getting better ratings than SGU and Caprica, and it's not because it's a better show. Hell, this past Friday alone, Sanctuary got 1.3 million, and it was up against a Yankees/Rangers clinching playoff game.

Syfy have effectively shot themselves in the head with the scheduling... NCIS got 20 MILLION viewers Tuesday... SGU got 1.05M... and then there's Glee...

Syfy CANNOT compete with these shows... no matter how good SGU is (IMHO) it cannot compete.

What Syfy need to do to keep the show going (If they actually do want to keep a Scifi show going looking at what they're showing these days) is to move SGU either back to Fridays or to any other day but Monday to Tuesday...

and if SGU is killed off due to ratings... then Syfy will have a problem on their hands with the rightfully angry fans...

I agree with you up to the last point. Sci Fi's suits don't care about the fans.
