Thor & the Asgard you are missed

:csad: Yeah.

In my dream scenario, the new aliens are somehow related to the Asgardians. Like this is some of their evolved clones and what's left of their joint venture with the Ancients, who ascended.

That was one of the weirdest things I'd ever seen on a TV series. The Asgard are all like, "Oh hai guyz, we're totally dying anyway and we wanted you to have our CD collections... along with everything else we own! Kthnxbyyyyyeeeee!!!!!11"

In the ast episode, TRIAL AND ERROR, there was something that wasn't right to me.

When Eli meets the redhead from the Aleution Alliance....she says that she had been studying Ancient technology for over a year to prepare for the raid....she looks at Eli and says I was particularily interested in your theory on dialing from inside a sun (or something to that effect)......Eli was brought into the Stargate program because of something that no one knew was related to the Stargate program, and taken to the planet and then jumped to the ship about one day later. Since then it has been what...a couple of months on the ship....where would these hypothetical papers he wrote on jumping or Stargate technologies be from? He knew absolutely nothing about the SG before he went offworld.

^
I noticed that as well and thought well, maybe he wrote some stuff when he was playing the Stargate simulation which allowed him to be brought to the SG program.

Anyway, it is a minor plot hole and he got a nice girl !

Trial and Error ratings are in

“Trial and Error” drew an estimated 967,000 viewers (Live + Same Day) in its 9 p.m. time slot.
That’s a drop of 4 percent from the previous week, and SGU‘s second dip under the 1 million mark for the Tuesday night broadcast.

On life support?

Syfy seem to want to kill off SGU... putting it up on the same night as NCIS and Glee is moronic to say the least.

THis show needs to either move away from Syfy OR force the ****ers to move the timeslot back to the original one.

i was annoyed when SG:A was ended... but i will be furious if this show is killed off because of the incompetance of the channel...

It'll be a bit awkward to not have any Stargate on TV for the first time in almost 15 years, but I don't think I'd particularly miss SGU. It's had some good episodes, but it's never quite made it up to SG-1 or Atlantis' best.

Agreed.

I'd venture as far as to say that creative got so wrapped up in the success of BSG, that they tried to translate the same kind of show within the SG universe. Failing for a number of reasons, all of which make it very hard to actually sit down and enjoy watching the show.

Some episodes felt like a real chore, if it wasn't the boring scripts, then it was the hard to get behind characters, the constant mood killer sequences that left everything dull, and any lack of real focus other than getting home that would leave a lot of characters with nothing to do but kind of just pace around on the ship.

Yeah, maybe if the whole show were made of Rushes played by actors of Robert Carlyle's caliber, it would've been different. But it's not.

SG:A felt like a true continuation of SG and really helped with those missing the original series. I understand what they're trying to do with SG:U, but it just doesn't feel like the same universe, even with our original characters as guests.

Well, this last episode really helped the show feel closer to Stargate...I like what they are doing with the ship...next episode we find out the actual mission.

I also really liked the last episode. It felt like an SG:U episode, unlike Cloverdale. They even got one of the Lucian Alliance involved, hopefully we'll see more. I really liked the revelation that Destiny has a sort of "consciousness" based on the different probability scenarios it runs. Also, can't wait to find out what the actual mission of the ship is.

I love Destiny's bridge. It is so cool looking and refined compared to the other parts of the ship. I would really like to see the focus shifted to that location as the hub of operations rather than the place they are in right now. There is also something really interesting about Rush sitting in the bridge and in the captain's seat all alone.

I agree with this, destiny's bridge is beautiful, probably my favourite set in the whole franchise. I must admit I had expected it to be bigger, as previous bridges we've seen were but it looks great and has everything in there that a bridge needs, why have all the excess space as many ships do.

I agree with Carnut,

On the one hand I applaud the SGU writers for trying to be different, but at the same time SGU doesn't feel like a natural continuation or expansion of the SG franchise, not like Atlantis did.

It's almost like SGU is too dark, gritty, or 'real', its characters too much in the gray category, and I think this creative dissonance has thrown off the fans.

I was watching SGU's first season, but even I've lost interest. I liked that SGU was being true to its premise, but its been a bit slow getting to whatever it's going. Plus, I don't care for the Tuesday time slot. I wish it was back on Fridays.

I hope they don't cancel the show though, just reboot it a little and amp up the aliens and action.

I'm honestly glad they tried something different, even if it's fallen a little bit flat. I would never have gotten into a continuation of SG:A. I needed something gritty and dark and forlorn where just getting water was a serious challenge.

I absolutely didn't. I had Battlestar Galactica and other stuff for that. I miss the tone of the older Stargate shows.

I probably would too if I had watched them. -shrug -

Me too. I'm really hoping they make another series (once this gets cancelled) and they go back to the tone and style that made us all SG fans.

I don't know, I doubt they could afford to make another series at the level of the previous ones given SGU's ratings. But I'd be all for another comfy, familiar Stargate series following a team of intrepid explorers every week. Unlike most of the shows I like, Stargate's strength is really in its stand-alone episodes. SG-1's best were usually done-in-ones where the only constants were the characters and their well-scripted, charming interactions.

I really liked the last episode, good stuff. I like the idea that the ship has some sort of AI. I enjoyed Scott more when he was large and in charge, than when he's playing boy wonder.

I don't mind the departure from the 'stargate' feeling of the previous 2 series. To be honest, the sarcastic take that was generated by RDA was not well replicated, and missed in both the later (post RDA) seasons of sg1 and atlantis.

I like the new grittyness.

what I don't like is the lack of direction... and that I care for few of the characters, not in the way that should. Like I said in an earlier post, I'm more interested in a number of the secondary character, rather than the primary characters

I'm glad they didn't use a time loop for this one. Would have been too much like that episode of TNG.

And I really like the idea that Destiny is trying to figure the crew out as much as they're trying to figure it out.

Same here...nice little twist for the story.

Brad Wright said:
“I don’t think if we for any reason go away, it is an issue necessarily of the quality of the product that we’ve been making,” said executive producer and co-creator Brad Wright. “I think getting moved on the schedule has hurt us. And the fact that some of the fans that liked SG-1 and Atlantis were so angry that they have deliberately hurt us, which is unfortunate.”.

Oh for crying out loud. How can you blame people who have kept you on the air for 10 years plus!? Are you kidding me!? And if you made such a good product, you should've made new fans. I'm not saying that the move was a good idea or that there weren't SG fans who were way to negative about Stargate Universe. But they had one season to create a new direction for the franchise and they squandered your time on stuff that just doesn't matter. Communication stone sexcapades for instance.

Here's a hint, if Brad Wright wanted SGU to perform well, maybe he shouldn't write crappy episodes like Cloverdale.
