Yeah im glad shes coming back, be nice for them to not have to go to Dr Lee for any technology :P

Seriously. I like Dr. Lee as comedy relief, but it's just sad when he's the resident expert on alien technology.

Well at least we'll only get him back for the comic relief again now.

Now that Carters back id like SG1 to go back to exploring, going on missions to previously unknown stargates perhaps to find any information they can on the Ori

Same here. I really want them to return to the off-world adventure formula. The last few seasons have been dull because of too many Earth-based episodes. It almost felt like the X-Files, where the sci fi stuff was just secondary.

I also want them to have more stand-alone episodes, where they just end up on some planet that has weird crap going down all on its own. No Ori, no Goa'uld, no overarching villain of any kind. Stuff like "The Other Side," where the planet has problems with internal politics, or "The Nox," where we get to meet new alien races without many connections to anything else. I'm a fan of serialization, but you've gotta take the odd episode off here and there to focus on expanding and enriching the universe they live in.

I didnt mind some of the Earth based episodes but it would be great for them to go back to exploring. Now that the goa'uld are out the way ud think they would have had a chance to really look around!

Another thing id like to see is at least one scene of the Tok'ra coming to see earth. I mean Earth and the Jaffa rebellion succeeded without their help. This is why we still need O'Neill, no character on the show now would rub it in their faces!

Hmmm, the Ori run into the Tok'ra. Interesting idea. The Tok'ra have to come running to Earth for help...

Well, Mitchell reads reports, and Jack's usually the one who writes the mission reports, so maybe he'll get some snarkiness by proxy where the Tok'ra are concerned. ;)

I can't really think of a reason why the Tok'ra would want to see us, though. They basically kicked Jacob out of their little club and broke off all but the most tenuous of relations with us by the end of season 8 because they didn't like our methods. I doubt they'd come back now, knowing that we'd rub their faces in the fact that our methods succeeded in less than a decade where theirs had failed for millennia. Face it, man... we totally pwned the Tok'ra at kicking Goa'uld ass. :p

Edit: Wieg! I didn't know you were a Stargate fan. :)

I think he's mocking the fact that Ben Browder's on the show now. In Farscape, Browder's last series, he rode around on a living ship called Moya.

Since the movie.
Wow, that's a lot longer than I've been a fan. I only discovered the show when it came to Sci Fi for season 6. Never had Showtime. :(

Ah right, I never watched Farscape. I was a fan of the stargate movie, watched the 1st ep of SG1 and didnt like it. Came back during season 2 and realised I was a moron for not sticking with it longer.

I think I saw a random episode here and there during those trial things, where Showtime just magically comes on in regular cable households. I remember liking it but wondering what the hell was going on, since I didn't see enough to bridge the rather large gap between the movie and the series. I also wondered where the hell Kurt Russell and James Spader were. :D

Im so glad that RDA was cast as O'Neill. The show wouldnt have been nearly as good if anyone else had played O'Neill like he was in the movie. Its RDA's great sense of humour that really made O'Neill great.

Was just watching an SG1 ep earlier, reminded me how great Michael Shanks and RDA work off each other with the simplest of looks

Yes, RDA really made Jack O'Neill all his own. He and Shanks definitely work well together, too. I've been watching the season 4 DVDs and, judging from the commentaries, it seems as if all of the really funny parts of every episode are RDA ad-libbing or being goofy. For example, most of the little goofy sequences in "Window of Opportunity," where he and Teal'c are stuck in a time loop, are last-minute additions that RDA or Chris Judge thought would be funny.

Yeah thats my fav SG1 episode, so funny. I went through all my stargate dvds the other week, great watching them through again. Havent watched them with the commentaries on for a while but I do remember them talking about the extra scenes added, gotta love O'Neill and Teal'c golfing through the stargate :P

Hammond (oc): WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!

O'Neill: On my backswing?!?

Hammond: COLONEL, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?
Jack: ... IN THE MIDDLE OF MY BACKSWING?!
:D

He and CJ also added the juggling bit in themselves, since they both happen to be great jugglers, according to Peter DeLuise. :D "Window of Opportunity" is probably tied with "Absolute Power" as my favorite episode of the series.

I think it's fair to say, that this weeks episode should have been the follow up to the 3 part premier. We finally get to see a little bit of how big a threat the ori really are. We finally get to see the stubborness of the new Jaffa nation. We finally have a gate team aswell.

Infact, I think this episode should have been part of the threepart premier. I'm very impressed with this episode, and I now feel excited for the rest of the season.

As for Atlantis, better than last week, but totally stand alone. We've seen so many episodes about McKay getting obsessive over stuff... this one was the same, except that he fails in this one. Weir is annoying as ever, it was like she was modelling or something, she didn't stop smilling for the first half of the episode. Dex is cool, but I don't like the team up with him and Taela... there are better team ups that could create better conflict.

Otherwise, I hope this is the standard of the remaining filler episodes this season, saving something special for the big epis.

Really enjoyed SG1 this week, but yet again no information about why Teal'c is still with them!
Im glad that they left it open for Vala to come back, I was thinking there was yet another cloaked ship she made it onto but I prefer he possibly ending up in the Ori home galaxy.
Nice to see Sam back although her contributions in this episode werent the most amazing ive seen.

I actually found her slightly annoying

Here's a post I wrote on another board about the reasons why Daniel and Teal'c are both sticking around the SGC, despite the likelihood that they'd want to be elsewhere:
They stopped referencing Daniel's missing the Daedalus before he ever even meets the Ori. That was his initial excuse to be involved in everything with Glastonbury Tor and the Ancient communication device, but once he'd activated the device and inadvertantly introduced the MW to the Ori, he knew that it was his responsibility to try and clean up his mess. That, plus the fact that he probably didn't want to inflict Vala on Atlantis, is the reason why he's staying. Which makes sense to me, at least. I certainly couldn't reconcile a Daniel who'd introduce his home galaxy to a group of dangerous zealots with power on a universal scale and then leave for the PG while others deal with it with the Daniel I know and love from previous seasons.

As Teal'c stated in "Avalon II," it was the Tau'ri and Ancient knowledge that facilitated the Jaffa's freedom. He feels a debt to the humans of Earth, and he's still clearly good friends with Daniel, since he rushed to his side when he heard about the bracelets. Now, while he was hanging around the SGC to try and help Daniel, he was introduced to the Ori. Gerak has certainly taken an interest in the Priors and it's a concern to all Jaffa if the Priors would attempt to subjugate them under new false gods. As in the earlier seasons, Teal'c is simply more useful on the forefront of new discoveries alongside SG-1 than he would've been training Jaffa in the rebellion camp or talking politics in the Free Jaffa Nation. On top of that, Gerak is the unequivocal leader of the FJN and we know Teal'c's already fallen out of favor because of his past with the Tau'ri, so 1) he wouldn't try to take power away from Gerak because a majority of Jaffa voted him into power using their newfound freedom, and 2) it's doubtful that many Jaffa would listen to Teal'c, the Tau'ri's pet Jaffa (as they probably see him), if he tried anyway.
Regarding last night's episode: I thought it was great. Sam's back, Nerus was hilarious, the "band" is back together (temporarily at the moment, but better than nothing), Gerak is becoming a love-to-hate antagonist, and the Ori are showing how huge a threat they can be. Vala's departure was done well and I'm glad she's gone. She's a decent character, but she gets on my nerves very quickly. If she returned in an episode near the tail end of this season, I wouldn't mind though. SG-1 is starting to feel more like it should, and I'm already dying with anticipation for next week's episode. Baal is my absolute favorite Stargate villain, without any doubt in my mind, and I'm looking forward to his triumphant return.

Oh yeah I agree with what you've said about Teal'c, thats pretty much what I thought. What is needed though is a simple scene where Teal'c explained that.

Yeah im looking forward to next week aswell, Baal is a great villian so it'll be good to see him back in the middle of all this. I wouldnt want the goa'uld to disapeer so quickly and id even like to see them get close to regaining power in a 2 parter maybe.

Seeing what the Prior did to the Jaffa was very cool and showing more of his powers by being able to breath in the toxic air. Some people on other forums have discussed that maybe when he touched the gate before the bomb went off that he basically transfered his personal shield over to it so that it wouldnt be destroyed in the blast aswell.

I just like to insert: you know one of those 'super-gates' is gonna get built at some point... then the **** will hit the fan.

also: I'd like to see the Daedelus make some appearances in SG-1. This struck me last episode of SGA. The Daedelus goes back and forth b/w earth and atlantis atleast once every 2 episodes (so far). It'd be nice to see some cross over on that level. Minor character (Colonel Caldwell and the ship) crossover.
