As of now SG-1 and SGA have both been renewed for new seasons by Sci-fi. :) SGA will be going into its third season and SG-1 will be going into its TENTH!!!!! Making it the longest running science fiction television program in U.S. history! Now if only I could get a job as a writer on SG-1 then my life would be complete. :)

And there's no reason it shouldn't. New cast members can join when old ones leave. We can follow other teams. So many opportunities.

If Star Trek can do it, no reason Stargate can't.

I agree. Even if all of the originals left at some point, Stargate Atlantis has proven that the formula is still enjoyable with a bunch of newbies.

If this is true then im not too happy as im not a big fan of SGA:

The casts of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis may be headed for something of a change-up after all. Fan reports from this weekend's GABIT event "Amanda Tapping: A Weekend With Her Fans" indicate that the "Samantha Carter" actress may be splitting her time between the two series next season.

In addition, the producers of Stargate SG-1 may be hoping to add a new full-time cast member.

Tapping reportedly told fans that she spoke to SG-1 executive producer Robert Cooper after learning about the show's renewal, and about the fact that each of her co-stars had been approached about returning for Season Ten. Actress Claudia Black ("Vala Mal Doran") has also been approached about signing on, she said. Tapping asked if there was a problem, to which he replied, "No problem -- we just don't know what to do with Sam next season."

Tapping was informed that she would be guaranteed a full 20 episodes next season, and that these will likely be split in some fashion between SG-1 and its spin-off series, Stargate Atlantis, fans reported. Her contract currently remains unsigned.

The actress made a small cameo appearance in the Atlantis Season One episode "Letters From Pegasus," and returns this season to guest star in "Grace Under Pressure."

Meanwhile, Tapping, who was reportedly light-hearted about things when she spoke with fans, also reported that she has been offered and is considering a leading role on another Canadian series, titled Whistler. The new series is described by its producers as "an action-packed ride through the politics, especially the personal ones, of a high-end resort town, where family and interpersonal pressures are ready to blow. ... It's The O.C. meets Twin Peaks."

Please remember that what we've heard on this breaking story so far is second- and third-hand information, and that Tapping's final status for SG-1's tenth and Atlantis's third season is not yet confirmed. Until then, treat it as you would any rumor.

If it comes to pass, it would certainly make the Stargate franchise one of television's most fluid in terms of sharing cast members and storylines between two different series. GateWorld will report on further developments as they happen!

Also did you lot hear about the name change that SG1 nearly got for this season? Because they thought it was feeling like a new show they had considered changing it to "Stargate Command", personally im glad it stayed as SG1.

Id have have Same then that other chick. I can't believe they are choosing her over Sam. How dare they. But hey could be cool if Sam goes to Atlantis. But I want Daniel for that NOT Sam :down

Although it will be funny when Rodney and Sam have to start working together again.

Sams response

But he likes her.

Won't be obvious right off the bat

At least they are keeping Sam on Stargate & hey only a matter of time before Sam asks SG1 to come to Atlantis to help out if she is going to be there more

He has always liked her, why would he say "Not you again"?

But it doesnt make sense at all.

I can picture Rodney going on a killing spree when he finds out Sam is coming.

See, it just doesn't make any sense.

Watched a few episodes again over here in the UK. They've got the new intro now for it aswell. Bit too focused on Mitchell for my liking as you guys know I dont particularly like the character.

Sony offers 'Threads,' Atlantis DVD fixes

MGM and parent company Sony got an earful from Stargate SG-1 fans when last month's release of Season Eight on DVD (Region 1 - North America) was discovered to include the shortened version of the pivotal episode "Threads." Though the same length as standard episodes, "Threads" was originally aired as a 90-minute special (including commercials) when it premiered on The SCI FI Channel. The full version was also included on DVD when it was released in other parts of the world.

Now, this week's release of Stargate Atlantis Season One DVD set (Region 1 - North America) has been found to include a number of defective discs. Several fans have reported that Disc 5 in the new set includes the contents of Disc 1 instead of the season's final four episodes. Sony has indicated that this is a manufacturing error specific to Canada alone.

Now Sony is offering disc exchanges for both DVDs.

STARGATE ATLANTIS - SEASON ONE
To receive your corrected Stargate Atlantis Disc 5:

1) E-mail [email protected] to request instructions.

2) Print the e-mail and package it up with proof of purchase, your return address, and the Disc 5 disc and single DVD case (not the entire boxed set).

3) Mail the above to:

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
Client Operations Group
SPP 5307
10202 W. Washington Blvd.
Culver City, CA 90232

Note that Sony cannot ship to P.O. boxes, and that the company does require a printed copy of its customer service e-mail for the exchange. The replacement will be shipped upon receipt of the defective disc. Please allow at least seven to 10 working days for delivery.

STARGATE SG-1 - SEASON EIGHT
There's a catch for fans looking for the longer "Threads," though -- it's currently only available to U.S. residents. We'll keep our ears open for news on how fans in Canada can exchange their disc. It's also not known if the new disc will include an audio commentary for the episode, conspicuously the only one missing from the set.

To receive your corrected SG-1 Disc 5:

1) Visit CheckMyRebate.com and click "Find a Rebate." Choose "COLUMBIA TRISTAR / SONY / MGM" from the menu.

2) Click "STARGATE REPLACEMENT DVD" and read the instructions. Click "Online Registration" and fill out the form.

3) After submitting the form, print out a copy of the Rebate Form with your info. Mail this form, along with the entire jewel case and DVD OR the original proof of purchase from the DVD packaging (located in the lower right corner on the back of the paper insert). Send it to:

STARGATE REPLACEMENT DVD
Redemption Headquarters
P.O. Box 9152
Bridgeport, NJ 08014

Submissions must be postmarked by January 31, 2006, and sets purchased before the end of this year.

Haven't bought the set yet, and wondering if you should wait? It is not known whether Sony is replacing the disc in future manufacturing runs, but since the disc is not actually defective the company may opt not to. The most reliable way to get the full version of "Threads" is to buy the set and send in the exchange request form.

Bit more news:

SG-1 Adds Black As Regular

Claudia Black (Farscape) joins the regular cast of SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate SG-1 in its upcoming 10th season, and the principal cast members of both SG-1 and its spinoff series, Stargate Atlantis, have signed on to reprise their roles in the recently announced new seasons, the network said.

Black, who plays the recurring role of Vala in SG-1's current ninth season, becomes a regular, joining stars Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks and Beau Bridges, who will all return.

Meanwhile, Joe Flanigan, Torri Higginson, David Hewlett, Rachel Luttrell, Paul McGillion and Jason Momoa will all return to Stargate Atlantis.

Stargate SG-1 becomes the longest-running SF drama on U.S. television and will mark its 200th episode in the upcoming season.

SG-1 wraps up its ninth season with new episodes starting on Jan. 6, 2006, paired with the final new second-season episodes of Atlantis and new episodes of Battlestar Galactica.

I never really liked Farscape so I dont ever notice them. Have really enjoyd Claudia Black on the show though so I think its good news. Now if they could just get RDA back instead of Browder that'd be great :p
