• Theatrical Sequel disregarding the DTV sequel w/Casper Van Dien!

 • An R-Rated Mini-Series or Ongoing Series on Premium Cable w/Casper!

 • A PG-13 Rated series on Sci-Fi Channel!

 • More Direct to Video sequels. (ugh)

 • I don't know.

^ Part 2 was garbage, the original was pure fun. It was totally tongue in cheek busting on the old 40's & 50's war films & mindset. There might be a concentration of people who loathe it hear in these forums but overall I don't know anyone who didn't get a kick out of it and enjoy it. I saw it 4 times in the theatres (packed theatres) and everyone was having a blast each time, and of course own the DVD which has one of the best bonus discs ever.

Yeah I get it... MR. IT'S NOT SUPPOSE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY, I MEAN SERIOUSLY! You've posted this like 5 times already, let people watch the movie as they see fit. And I think I pointed out it's like a cartoon, I think that implies I'm not taking it all together too seriously...

You're just mad because Kevin is calling you on your stupidity. Now quit embarrassing the Hype infront of Mr. Van Dien

I remember seeing the first Starship Troopers when I was, like, 7 on cable. I salivated in awe of it. Everything was there; gory action, comedy and drama. Really, it's one of those that people can either love or hate. I will never forget the awesomest joygasmic climax; head-decapitating, acid-spitting, neverending-slashing all-out war between humans and bugs in the middle of nowhere. Was extremely disappointed with the sequel, however. It sucked ass.

love this movie, just great, they should make a proper sequel with the original director back.

SPHE renlists those Starship Troopers
October 13, 2006
Variety confirms today that reports that a second straight-to-DVD sequel to 1997’s “Starship Troopers” is in the works are most certainly more than just, well, rumours.

“Starship Troopers 3” will be written and directed by Ed Neumeier -- who wrote the first two installments, not to mention sci-fi cult classic "RoboCop" – and reunite some of the cast from the original film, including Casper Van Dien, who’ll be back to reprise his role as gun-toting Johnny Rico – now a general, whose recruited back into duty to squash some more bugs.

“The script is along the same line as the first,” Van Dien says on his website. “It is awesome”.

Sony Screen Gem’s Clint Culpepper had this shocking comment to make: “They realize there's money to be made there."

Money? I thought this was all about integrity….the art, and all that?

Neumeier on Starship Troopers 3

Was just having a chinwag to my old bud, Ed Neumeier, who says Sony are about push the greenlight on his “Starship Troopers 3”.
“Looks like - fingers crossed - Sony is moving forward”, Neumeier, who will write & direct the film, tells Moviehole. “Plans are afoot to shoot next year. Casper Van Dien will be back as Colonel John Rico. There'll be a new bug or two. Also draft riots. Religion makes a comeback. And the Federation has a new weapon.”
Exciting stuff. More on this beast as it gets its teeth.

Also draft riots.

WTF? The whole point with the government (even in the movie) in ST is that you can choose whether or not to enlist, to become a citizen. Why the hell would there be drafts?

That's the thing I don't like about the movie franchise, it's not an undermining parody (the way Robocop was). Any message trying to be put across is nullified by how awkward, half-assed, and inconsistent the writing and presentation is.

Probably cause so many troopers died. What was it 600k troopers and billions of civilians.

*Note that isn't my quote.

here ya go people!!!

"Troopers 3 Nears Green Light

Writer/director Ed Neumeier Moviehole.net that Sony is close to giving a green light to a third Starship Troopers film. "Looks like—fingers crossed—Sony is moving forward," Neumeier told the site. "Plans are afoot to shoot next year. Casper Van Dien will be back as Col. John Rico. There'll be a new bug or two. Also draft riots. Religion makes a comeback. And the Federation has a new weapon."

Starship Troopers 3 would be the latest sequel in the franchise that began with director Paul Verhoeven's 1997 hit SF movie, about a war between humanity and giant alien bugs in the future. Neumeier wrote the screenplay for that film, which was loosely based on Robert A. Heinlein's classic SF novel.

Neumeier also wrote and co-produced the second installment, the straight-to-video Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation, which was directed by Phil Tippett. It's expected Starship Troopers 3 will similarly go straight to DVD."
