I like it because it has that sort of "In Your Face" stuff.
I think the movie is decent. The action is great. I really like the war themes and the "infomercials" in the movie, too.

Does anyone else like this flick?

I liked it. It's not top of my list but it's watchable. It kind of poked fun at its self which was cool, not taking its self too seriously.

I really enjoyed the scenes that included wonderful vies of Casper Van Dien's backside, good enough reason to own.

i loved this movie. it's like the spiritual succesor to robocop, if you know what i mean. it had that same kind of vibe to it.

i wonder if the same director didn't do both? (probably not, but i'm far too lazy to look it up.

Good flick. Entertaining to the bone.

Paul Verhoeven or however you say it directed both Robocop & Starship Troopers.

It's a fun, self-aware cheese-fest. Not exactly similar to the Robert Henlein novel, but it works.

The training scenes never fail to crack me up....

"MEDIC!!"

I like it, and I have it on DVD.

I liked it wouldn`t say it was great, you see boobs in it so its not all a let down ;)

i figured it was the same guy... you can just tell by the style of them both.

would you like to know more?

I liked it. Great movie. However, I'm mildly weirded out by watching it ever since I learned that the guy who wrote the book that the film was based on was a neo nazi, and the bugs were meant to represent the jews. :(

omg!

i thought the movie was bad...... it had good qualities but for some reason it gave off a crappy vibe that i didnt like

The cool thing is how the book was racist but the director made the film a satire about fascism.

Once I realised that it's not meant to be taken seriously I found it very unique and entertaining.

Wikipedia's article makes it clear Heinlein was not racist, and very often undermined racial prejudice in his novels.

This other site, suggests a change of some sort after marrying a far-right conservative, yet identifies the bugs as a parallel for Communism, not Jews-- Wikipedia did mention his anti-Communism.

Is there any expert to shed light on this?

As for the movie, I remember it being bashed for being "fascist propaganda", when it fact it is exactly the opposite, and a very very obvious satire of fascism, war propaganda, ...
The criticism quoted in the latter site seems to have missed the point of the movie's caricature. I'm sure Verhoeven isn't the idiot their remarks suggest; actually, even being this obvious and caricatural was not clear enough for many viewers.
For what it's worth: I love that movie.

Its my guilty pleasure movie. I watch it at least once a month.

I LOVE this movie. It's one of the most misunderstood movies of all time.

Like someone says, I don't understand how anyone misses the satire. Its so pointed and venomous, yet some people miss it completely and take it at face value.

The scene that makes me laugh is where the news channel tries to blame the bugs for shooting meteors at earth for justification of the war, and capitalising on the tradgedy of buenos ares...when we never see any indication that they can even do that! That to me is the biggest clue to the satire of the movie and the anti-facist message.

Yet it also works as a fantastically fun, brainless popcorn movie (even though it's really not at all).

I even liked the second one, though it was REALLY downgraded in terms of budget and scope.

And man, Carmen was a *****.

Yep I like that movie I need to buy it. I thought it had really good action in it "would you like to know more."
