State of Decay

Keep in mind that I'll still end up getting it. I'm an absolute SUCKER for zombies.

So...No co-op?

Boo. Everything almost has to have a co-op mode for me to buy it anymore. More so this late in console life.

There's every chance State of Decay will get co-op in an update at some point. From what I understand, they're waiting to see how the game performs before introducing it. The ultimate goal is to create a console based MMO, with the single player game working as the foundation. Basically, the current single player game is an already very ambitious step toward an even more ambitious goal.

I'm betting that I'll pick it up, lol. I just pretty much relate everything to Borderlands 2 now...A game that's been out for a while that my friends and I STILL play, almost nightly.

I'm fine with something being SP, I fully believe there needs to be more... I just...Really like me some co-op.

I'm kind of torn, on the one hand I want to grab it right away and play, on the other hand I want to wait a day or two and see what the general reaction is from fans. Excitement will probably trump logic in the end.

same here. I'm glad it's SP though. As I own a xbox360 and a ps3, I don't wanna pay to play online.

I bought it. It's awesome.. Crossing my fingers that they do hat post release co-op patch as the game is just BEGGING for it.

so that's it? it's really available? how big is the map? Also, how much does it cost?

Is it up in Canada yet? I assumed it would go up at the same time as in the U.S, but I don't see it.

Map is huge.. Don't have an exact size.. Just.. Huge. It's 20 dollars but a few hours in and I'd easily have paid 60 for it.

I'm not terribly far into the game... I scavenge.. Move on.. Scavenge.. Build up my home, repeat.

Also.. There are some bug.. Nothing major but sometimes zombies clip through doors and whatnot. Also... Driving through a mass horde of them? Extremely satisfying.

Still waiting for it to be available in Canada. Xbox doesn't give the option to download it, and the Xbox Live website just says "This Offer Not Available in Your Region." Unless I'm doing something horribly wrong, but I don't think so. Kind of crazy when you think the studio who made the game is literally a two hour drive from where I am.

This actually seems like a zombie game id enjoy. Seems like they treat zombies as dangerous enemies rather than cannon fodder.

Hordes are EXTREMELY dangerous. Unless you're driving around in a truck that looks an awful lot like a Doge Ram...You will hide and wait 3-5 minutes until they pass you by.

I've also yet to use a gun. Pipe fitter wrench is what I'm all about.

That sounds awesome. How easy do they kill you? Is it like they grab ya then dead? Or do you have a little more health than that?

You have a little more health. I've yet to die (thankfully...Because it's perma death) but I've been grabbed a time or two. If you have one zombie on you it's not bad...If you have two or three around you...You better hope you have some ibuprofen on hand.

well the zombies are the stars of this as the ones you fight against and there's no other competition especially in the more power creatures idea of things or top of the food chain there of the dangers you have to face in this game. so it makes sense why they aren't treated like "cannon fodder" and you can still kick the hell out of a zombie to survive and still be afraid of them. So no worries.

Zenith you're in Canada, any trouble being able to download/purchase the game?

while I'm posting like usual I'm not really home right now. I'll find out soon enough

Ahh, okay. I hope it's up soon, I specifically stayed home to play it and it's already gone noon. Seems strange.

Ok this game is just kicking my ass now. 2 deaths. It's just so easy to run out of stamina or bullets in the middle of a big onslaught.

I've tried the demo, not much, but so far I'm not really excited. I have to play more before making my mind though.

So, I played the demo. And I liked it. I think I'll probably buy the game tonight and start again. It seems like you're getting a lot for $20. There's open world jank, and the combat isn't great...but the exploration, skill building, and management of resources in the post-Zombie Apocalypse is very interesting. I feel like the game would be open for more criticism if it were a full retail release. But, for $20...and as many hours as I'm hearing you can pour into this game...it sounds worth the money if you like the concept the game is pitching.
