State Your Opinion on a Character

Zorro is incredible, the Shadow is also incredible, both are legends but the actual stories themselves are even better than people think.

Never heard of it

Yeah, I think he's been trying to get it off the ground for years now.
Y'know his movie Darkman? That was supposed to be a Shadow movie but I think there was some sort of dispute with the rights so they had to turn it into it's own thing.

Mmmm... wihout spoiling anything I really cant say much but there's so much more going on in this book than what you seem to perceive as maudlin teen melodrama (which I also dislike)

And these particular teens ARE important. Morning Glories is a school for super-freaky genius children.

And, Anubis: I really dont like to recommend things (Cos' I'm just a disembodied voice on the internet and why would anyone listen?)
but you should most definitely look into this one. :)

I'm not perceiving it as "maudlin teen melodrama". I'm seeing it for what it is, yet another teen-oriented book about teens who are in that world important. Bleh.

That's cool but maybe you should try it before you write it off.
I know what you're saying about teen-oriented books, I don't have a lot of time for them either but there's more going on in this story than the basic plot synopsis would have you believe.

It's a very, very rare thing for me to get behind the idea of children doing these sorts of things, and succeeding. I really only generally accept the Teen Titans because so damn many of those kids get killed.

EDIT: Tell you what, I'll give it a shot if I can locate it. I have one question though; how are the adult characters? The more I think about it, the more it's apparent that in the few things featuring a child protagonist, the characters I really gravitate towards and wind up becoming a fan because of are the adults.

I'm usually the same way. Trust me, the adult character's are great. Practically all of them have some sort of secret or agenda that we, the readers, are being slowly dripfed more information about.
The Characterisation of this book is one of it's greatest strengths. Regardless of how old they are, every character is immediately recognisable as a human being.

Anyway! Another day, another character!

Turok

I like the idea more than the execution...but to be fair I haven't read a whole lot of Turok.

Not the most knowledgable of him myself but he has a rep so I thought I'd put him up here.

Turok

Oh hell yeah! Awesome genre mash character long before the term was coined.
I love that later generation made the Lost Valley a place where anything goes, sci-fi ,supernatural, fantasy, anything, and in the center of it all Indian brave Turok.

This character should be an American fiction Icon

The Doctor

Actually, this was done before 10 regenerated into 11 so...

I prefer the current one. Bow Ties are cool.

And the Doctor is awesome. I wanna see him fight Kang the Conqueror. :o

The Doctor is easily one of the greatest super heroes ever created. He's pretty much the UK's Superman equivalent, both in terms of iconography and the fact that he's the ideal hero filtered through the local cultural context. All in all he's a mother ****ing boss.

Simply put The Doctor is one of the all time greats, an icon

Totally. Like Spielberg said once: "The world would be a poorer place without Doctor Who."

Next character!
