State Your Opinion on a Character

I only recently found out about The Goon a year or so ago. Couldn't really afford to follow him at the time, (or now for that matter), but based on what little I've read in descriptions/comic synopsis and what-not..I think I'd probably dig him at least a little bit...

Same here, actually. Lookin' forward to properly checkin' it out when work gets a little less crazy.

I wonder whatever happened to that David fincher-produced movie they were making a few years back?

To Google!

I've read a few things with Goon in it. He's awesome.

Had an awesome avvy and everything with him in it.

It couldn't possibly have been as awesome as the one you're using these days.

The Goon
Never heard of the goon before, but maybe I should check it out. It looks interesting. The Will Eisner influence is strong with this one.

I actually got a mixture of Eisner and Popeye kinda vibe myself....probably the hat or something...

Jut ordered The Goon: Vol.1. on your recomendation. I'm curious to find out what it's about. It will also be the newest comic book series in my collection.

Heard great things about The Goon. Haven't read any of the books though, I should rectify that.

Ain't they making a movie.

the goon is fantastic, wish i could find more of it to read

'Kay. The Goon's pretty well liked but a lot of these choices have been (completely by accident) quite testosterone-heavy.
Let's go Indie...

Jimmy Corrigan, The Smartest Kid On Earth

The similarities are freaky, aren't they?

But if you ask Seth McFarlane, apparently not... *Cough********Cough*

can't say squat about ol' Jimmy boy, as I never followed him or anything he was in...but I love his name...that counts for at least 33% of an opinion, right?

I had heard about the Aceme books shortly before I got laid off. Was gonna buy it, but then, boom. No money for comics. :(

But now I got a job again, and it's time to rectify that.

So, I have no idea who that dude is.......for now.

It's fantastic stuff (but whatever you do! Don't read them when you're in a good mood! I think it's fair to say they can get pretty bleak...)

Never read it in a good mood?
I won't be able to read it, can't read comics when I'm in a foul mood =p

Yeah. Basically, if you've had a really great day and feel like some light reading, avoid Jimmy Corrigan. It's light cartoony demeanour disguises a century spanning tale of life, death, desperation and the irretrievability of time.
However! If you're in the mood for something with a lot of heart, intelligence and sincerity, you should give it a try!

Anyways! It's that time again!

Reuben Flagg

I remember reading a few American Flagg books - right when I was looking to expand my horrizon's beyond the big two comic companies. If memory serves I read a little Grimjack, A Flagg, Judge Dread, and...I'm thinking Cerberus..but I can't be sure at this point..

ANYWAY...I wound up not sticking with any of them due to financial reasons, but I thought Flagg was alright. Not quite good enough for me to follow month in/out, but a neat little read every now and then. I remember digging Chaykin's work on the book too, which is probably why I even bothered to pick up a few issues in the first place...

I know what you mean. I thought it was just alright too. A shame, cos' I really thought I was gonna love it for some reason...
For all his hype and huge reputation, Chaykin has yet to wow me.

I also feel he's been slowly unlearning how to draw. :o

Seconded.
He, Frank Miller and Neal Adams must all be suffering from the same weird talent-based degenerative illness...

Still haven't gotten around to reading that either, but God Damn does everything I've ever seen of Fear Agent look awesome.
