State your unpopular video game opinion...

Luna had voice acting so bad it almost ruined the game for me, lol.

FFX came out of very interesting time for me, I was going through a transition where I had came to the realization that I don't particularly care for Japanese storytelling as a whole and FFX was the last JRPG I've played. I didn't regret my time with it, but I've never had a reason to go back to it.

One of the lamest games I ever saw was Friday The 13th for the NES. It was a pathetic game trying to cash in on the movie franchise.

1. Mortal Kombat is bad. Stupid characters, stupid plot, repetitive gameplay, unnecessary violence...

The old games were silly and "harmless" with its Itchy and Scratchy violence. But the new games go way too far if you ask me.

2. Grand Theft Auto is pure crap. It's sad that the makers of the game waste their talent on games like this. Why not make a similar game with less violence, where you play as a policeman or something like that?

I know, True Crime: Streets of L.A. Did something like that, but it wasn't any better than GTA with its high levels of violence and sex.

3. Doom is not very good...feels like you play the same level over and over. Amazing that this game was so popular back then. Stupid game too.

4. Same with the Duke Nukem games. Way too much vulgar stuff as well. The game is supposed to be for "adults", but it feels more like a twelve year old boy's idea of adult games. Who is this game for?

5. God of War is extremely boring and laughable. Again, feels like a twelve year old kid from the 90s made it. Or a porn addict.

6. Batman: Vengeance is a pretty good game (my first PS2 game, actually). I never got tired of it.

7. The Batman & Robin game for Playstation is okay.

8. The Metal Gear series is extremely overrated. The first game is pretty good, but the games that followed were boring and talky. Snake Eater is more of a movie than a game, to be honest.

9. Which is why I don't see why it's necessary to make a movie version of it. It's already a movie.

10. Super Nintendo is still the best console.

11. I'm sorry, but don't think the original Sonic games are very good. I have tried to like them, but it's just not for me.

12. The Darkness is a very bad and ugly game. But no surprise there, since it's based on a bad and ugly comic. I threw my copy in the garbage.

13. Mass Effect is massively overrated. Don't get me wrong, a lot of it is amazing, but it gets repetitive after a while. I don't get why they felt the need to add sex stuff in the game though. Pointless, immature and distracting.

14. Like in movies and comic books, it's never necessary with sex scenes in video games. No wonder people who don't play video games think gamers are neckbearded creeps who spends most of their time with their flesh joysticks in their slimy hands.

15. Assassin's Creed is horse manure.

16. The Tomb Raider games are actually pretty uninteresting. The only reason I liked it as a little boy was because I had a crush on Lara Croft. Now I can see how boring it is.

I really don't have much interest at all in PC gaming and dislike the 'Master Race' fanboy types.

Even though they were only publisher, LA Noire is still the best Rockstar game imo (and it's my favorite all-time game).

I'm surprised I haven't already contributed to this thread, but here's some of my "unpopular opinions":
- Final Fantasy VII is not that impressive, and the only real reasons to like the game have nothing to do with the game itself but with its connections to Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 (connections that I'm hoping the PS4 remake of VII emphasize)

- Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy XIII deserve far more recognition and appreciation than they get, with VIII and XIII featuring 2 of the top 3 best storylines in the core Final Fantasy Canon (with X featuring the other)

- Maniac Mansion and Friday the 13th are among some of the best games ever released for the original NES

- Double Dragon 3 is the best of the Double Dragon series

- First-person shooters are a waste of time and money

- The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is hands-down better than its immediate predecessor Ocarina of Time

- Star Tropics is one of the best Action RPGs released for any system ever

- Killing off Liu Kang and bringing him back as a zombie was one of the best decisions the team at Netherworld Studios/Midway has ever made when it comes to the mythology of the Mortal Kombat series, and instantly made the character more interesting

- Kintaro is infinitely more interesting than Goro, and far more fun to play as

- "Guest characters", by and large, just aren't interesting, and actually detract from the experience of the games in which they appear

- Saturday Night Slam Masters deserves more appreciation, and ought to receive a console remake using the Street Fighter IV/V engine

Can be said about anything that anyone dislikes.

Agreed. In other words, THEY BETRAYED THE LORE!

You probably don't care, but I think you're Glenn Beck thing works a lot better with movies. At least with them you can tell you have familiarity with what you're talking about. With games, it's pretty obvious that you don't, especially with the top 5, I doubt you've played any of them at all, especially saying that about Doom. But I don't know, it's hard to tell how far you want to take the joke, so maybe it's just part of your shtick.

You can believe what you will, you don't know me or my story. It's strange how obsessed you are with me and my posts...almost creepy, to be honest. And I don't know why you keep on comparing me to Glenn Beck either, I'm not a fan of the guy at all. So please, stop quoting me, stop following me, and stop the name-calling before I report you to a serious moderator.

Lol, re-read your post and you can see why. Beck does that kind of stuff all the time when he gets criticized in any way, trying to turn something into a personal attack while passively aggressively threatening the criticizer. I was honestly trying to help you out, because your shtick is fine, but here it doesn't work well, but as I said, that may be part of the point, too.

As far as the rest, you are free to give your opinion as I am equally free to comment on it. You just have to deal with that, or if it bothers you so much, you can just block me. Perfectly viable option as well. You can report here if you want, but you're not being harassed, and you know you're not, you're just playing your persona, which is fine, you're free to do that. But cautious now, don't try and bully people into posting how you want them to. Even as just a persona, you are walking a fine line when you do that. You have no right to force anyone's opinion, just as much as no one has a right to force your own, and the less-than-subtle insults won't help you much either.

Anyway, moving on, I'm going to repost this from the SFV thread. A lot of complaints about the lack of Arcade Mode in SFV, which surprised me since I had no idea Arcade mode was something a lot of people cared about. Here are my thoughts:

I will say, too, that I think Arcade mode is worthless. I know people clamor for it since it's "basic" and "traditional," but it's never really been a good mode of play outside arcade. If they tweaked Survival mode with checkpoints and more gradual difficulty over spikes it would be way better than any Arcade mode. I think there should be some type of SP mode in that vein, but we need something more akin to Alpha's World Tour or Soul Calibur's Weapon Master over that.

And adding to that, I think Arcade mode also reinforces a lot of bad habits in actually playing the game past single player. The AI, even in high difficulties, tend to be very forgiving to jumping, where as it's basically the worst thing you can do excessively when you start playing online with actual people. I don't know how either of the two things I mentioned could help that, but ideally, I would love for the SP in fighters to actually be able to teach you something about 'real life play,' something other than just practicing inputs. I really don't know how that would be accomplished, but I'd like someone to actually give that a try.

One of the most absurd things I ever heard about FF games.

I'm assuming you're dismissing the validity of VII's connections to X since that's what you bolded, to which I say the following: Even if you choose not to accept it, the Canonical reality of the Final Fantasy franchise is that VII and X ARE connected.

This is really getting scary... :loco:

It's called an opinion. You can disagree with me if you want, but please don't act like I'm crazy for having said opinion.

Not validity of their link, they can link all FF games into one universe and make the most ridiculous excuse for it for all I care. But you claim that VII isn't that good and the only reason for it to be popular is because... lmao... it's linked to X.

It's an opinion too. I call your opinion crazy. VIII and X had decent stories, but since then FF franchise degraded dramatically in terms of narrative, character development and quality of writing overall. And it manifested in XIII. But it's a topic about unpopular opinion, so let it be. It's indeed unpopular opinion for many reasons.

By the way, even developers admitted that XIII's story is garbage, they had little time to develop it and it was a last minute decision. I won't link you to the source, but I think it's possible to find it with google's help. Yet you consider it to be one the best storylines in FF franchise...

You said this in a strange way. VII is the most popular game in the series, and it isn't even close. If anything. X gets a boost from VII, not the other way around.

- I find Mass Effect 2 to be incredibly overrated. Outside of the clunky combat, I find the original Mass Effect to be far and away the superior game. Story, characters, and narrative. Mass Effect 2 tries to deliver big moments, while Mass Effect just has them naturally.

- Final Fantasy IX is the best Final Fantasy.

- Kefka is a poor character.

- God of War 3 is an average, unfinished game that failed to live up to the first two.

- Ocarina of Time has mediocre gameplay.

- Assassin Creed Unity is the best AC game.

- The Metroid Prime series is incredibly boring. Good games, but I just can't play them.

- Bethesda is being held back by their engine. It makes their games look unfinished and poor. They also have no idea how to make an actual shooter.

- The only really good Uncharted game is Among Thieves. The original is a poorly playing game, while the third is unfinished and repetitive.

- Revengeance maybe the best Metal Gear game. It is easily better then 2, 4 and 5. It is at least on par with MGS and Snake Eater.

No validity of their link.

See creator statements and the official Ultimania companion/supplemental materials for both games, as well as X-2 itself.

I feel like VII is vastly overrated and don't like it all that much on its own, so it being linked to X, which is my favorite game in the core franchise, makes it somewhat palatable to me when it otherwise wouldn't be.

Please, explain to me - why did you edit my post, thus alternating what I said? I'll repeat, I don't care about link between X and VII, if it exists or not - games and settings are so different, the existence of link is literally unimportant. Indeed, if developers said there's one it's just to promote their spin-offs and X.
I feel like VII is vastly overrated and don't like it all that much on its own, so it being linked to X, which is my favorite game in the core franchise, makes it somewhat palatable to me when it otherwise wouldn't be.
Well, now it makes more sense. YOU don't like it and the only reason for you to play VII is because it's linked to X. Previously it sounded like majority of those who like VII, according to you, like it because it's linked to X.

Anyone who has a opinion that Batman Vengance is a good game.. Has wrong opinions.

Starting with the second generation, I almost never attempted to play Pokemon again.
That changed recently, and boy did I have fun playing Pokemon Yellow.

I don't think that's unpopular, many people have said Bethesda need to update their engine for future games. And they themselves said they don't know how to craft shooters properly, which is why they reached out to another developer for help with Fallout 4's shooting mechanics.
