I don't get this feeling at all from it. There's a general choppiness that comes from how this trailer is assembled, but that's the trailer. Elba is congenitally incapable of not being a great actor, and I doubt this turns out to be the movie where he sucks all of a sudden.
Oh I have seen Elba in some bad roles. Not his fault imo. The writing just wasn't there. But he has "sucked" before.

He's been in bad stuff, but I don't think he's ever been bad.

My prediction: this movie gets middling reviews, but everyone agrees Elba is well suited and acquits himself well.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. And I kind of like that movie. :funny:

Every actor has some clunkers on his resume, but I am still looking forward to Elba as The Gunslinger.

I thought MM would pulll out his best **** for this role and kind of go the unrecognizable route but it does seem like he's just being evil MM, "alright alright alright" drawl and all. Maybe that's what they wanted, but he can obviously do better.

Considering how the movie looks, I don't think top line effort was on the cards for anyone here. Paycheck time.

This I will agree with. McConaughey leaves no impression in this trailer.

I mean, he and Elba are both good actors but neither one of them has me thinking they're not basically playing badass versions of themselves in this trailer.

At least Elba gets a couple of moments to sell it in the trailer, and I'm buying. McConaughey doesn't really get a moment. The trailer just kinda uses his status and face.

I agree. Though I wouldn't call what MM looks like here badass.

The Man in Black is basically supposed to be this sharply dressed devilish character, kind of unassuming I guess. That may be what they were trying to go for in regards to it being so underplayed, I don't know. In all honesty I'd rather he be somebody like Adam Warlock than this so he can actually get a little crazy, lol.

I'll say this: everyone looks like they smell great in this trailer. All fresh clothes and cologne. I feel like everyone in THE GUNSLINGER smells like an old sock that's been repurposed into underwear.

It looks fantastic! I think they'll take some liberties but that's ok as long as they stick to the same themes
