Stephen King's Epic "The Dark Tower" - Part 2

We’ll see if it makes it to five seasons. I don’t doubt Flanagan‘s vision but Nolan wanted five seasons of Westworld and we saw how that turned out.

Say thank ya and praise the Man Jesus.

Now, as RuPaul would say, don’t **** it up.

To be fair, that series gradually fell off in quality and slowly lost its audience over time because of that, which is why we didn’t get a final fifth season to finish it off. Hardly anybody was watching it anymore, because it just wasn’t as good or as popular anymore and didn’t even come close to reaching the heights of that excellent first season. I’m surprised it even lasted as long as it did.

If this can retain its quality and build upon itself throughout and continue to gain a larger following over time, which I’m sure it will, because it’s Mike Flanagan, I am almost certain that it will get the allotted amount of seasons, films or whatever it needs/takes to adapt it.

So who from the Flannagan stable do we think will end up cast in this?

-Hamish Linklater seems like a shoe in for Walter O'Dim.
-Carla Gugino as Rhea of the Coos
-I could see a case for Rahul Kohli or Oliver Jackson Harper as Roland.
-I'm not sure who specifically he should play, but Robert Longstreet was tailor made for Mid-World.

Amazon bought and greenlit five seasons for a Lord of the Rings show based entirely on Appendices material and nothing else.

I can't imagine they'll have a problem greenlighting five seasons for a Dark Tower show with complete access to the novel series at their disposal.

Trust me, I completely agree. Westworld fell off after the second season and it was on a steady decline in quality until the very end. I trust Flanagan more than Nolan, but I hope there’s an audience for this because there’s so much potential especially if there are other King characters/nods brought in. King is the original creator of the connected cinematic universe when you look back at all the shows and movies from the 80s/90s.

You know who'd make a phenomenal Roland? Zahn McClarnon, who played Crow Daddy in DOCTOR SLEEP.

Godzilla and the Universal monsters would like a word with you.

Cool news. But it's separate from the Amazon deal and it might not even happen...
FLANAGAN: Predating our deal with Amazon, we acquired the rights to The Dark Tower, which if you know anything about me, you know it has been my Holy Grail of a project for most of my life. We actually have those rights carved out of our Amazon deal, which doesn’t mean that they can’t or won’t get behind it at some point — you don’t know. But that’s something we’ve been developing ourselves and are really passionate about finally getting it up on its feet at some point.

Hamish Linklater would absolutely kill The Man in Black role. He is so good at playing someone so disarmingly approachable that you wouldn’t even for one second think of him as a threat, as well as believing in and deluding himself into a singular cause and achieving his goal so much that you almost buy into it, until it’s too late.

Henry Thomas is another of Mike Flanagan’s usual suspects I could totally see playing this. He has that friendly, charming and charismatic, but manipulative, demeanor you could see others buy into and follow, but can also snap into scary, psychotic blind rage at the drop of a hat.

Bring it on. I hope he secures a solid budget and a decent run from whoever is willing. Amazon can afford it, just bin Rings of Power if they need to, lol.

Well this is a best case scenario for the series and I couldn’t be happier. Even though Amazon nixed the prior adaptation I can’t see them saying no to Flanagan wanting to make it after a couple other shows. This just became my most anticipated series coming in the future.

So this isn't official yet right?

Not getting too excited until it is.

Thomas will be in it, and Walter would be pretty inspired!

Oh wow so this is actually being developed! Ignore me my previous post and colour me very excited

I hate to be a height snob, but I think Zahn is too short to play Roland. Great actor and I feel like there is some role for him here (I think I suggested him for Jonas a while back) but Roland needs to be an imposing figure.

Henry Thomas would be great as Sayre. Thinking of that creepy alternate version of his character in Bly Manor, specifically here.
