Stephen King's "IT" remake has found a writer

Serkis is a cool choice.

I honestly think the ending may need to be reworked. A giant spider just feels a little cliche...especially after Aragog and Schelob. I'd rather see them face Pennywise in an uber monsterous clown phase or if they turned him into a monstrous demon.

The original mini-series disappointed me so much with that, Curry was so terrifying as a clown, and then some cheap claymation spider for the finally killed it.

Yet with todays tech I'm sure they could make it quite terrifying, along with an uber cool morphing scene from clown to spider.

Serkis would be awesome, based on that I should be a casting agent... Someone needs to clown up on of the creepier Serkis pictures.

OH LAWDS... SERKIS...CIRCUS? Coincidence? No, it is KA!

Serkis is a good one, but I'm still sticking with Giamatti. I dont know why, I just think he's got it in him...

I'd also be happy with Giamatti, definitely enough of an actor to pull it off, he can really give intense stares and go over the top with anger when he needs too.

I've seen an oldish interview with the writer of this, has this project all but died, no director, producers or actors right?

This movie will probably get going once Ron Howard has "The Dark Tower" in the theaters.

Remember, Pennywise wasn't actually a spider. That was just what your brain would allow you to see, because seeing its true form would drive you insane. Too bad that can't translate to film.

What if they really did see its true form and went insane.Where after they kill the giant spider you hear a voice behind them saying what are you guys up too now. Then we see them all in gowns huddled around a corner where they are smashing a regular sized spider in the corner inside a mental institution.

:awesome:

How is he past the age to play an adult? :o

because theres a difference because even if they set the child scenes in 1980 he'd still be about 13 years too old, and that assuming its not set in the mid or late 80s.

What are you talking about? The child scenes occurred during the summer of 1958. They met as adults in the mid 80's.

Not too shabby, but it would be a deviation from the story. The only way to translate that to film, and keep to the original story is to make mention of another group of kids that were unsuccessful at stopping Pennywise, and do the scene you described with them.

I know he isn't in the IT book, but I would love for them to incorporate Pennywises cousin from the Dark Tower series. That dude was crazy awesome!

That actually sounds pretty cool, as long as it's just a single mysterious, haunting image and not some long storyline insertion. An unsuccessful group of kids who tried to band together but failed at stopping It... when should it occur though? Before they all meet as adults?

Maybe a bunch of kids that everyone always talked about like, "Well, you know what happened to Frank Smith after his gang were pulled out of the sewers the last time things like this happened around here. They were screaming, and yelling, and the girl even tried to bite her own mother! Now they are all locked away up in the Mayport Mental facility." Then we see them all in gowns huddled around a corner where they are smashing a regular sized spider in the corner. Then we hear a voice behind them saying, "What are you guys up to now?"

You're not happening! :cmad:

I'm in no rush. There's enough awesome stuff coming out in the next two years.

They can take their time and do it whenever they want.

Would you guys stop bumping this thread? You make me think something is happening with the film everytime I open it.

Maybe instead of just the giant spider...they could go full on otherdimensional deadlights, and the ritual of Chud.

Whoever designed the insects in The Mist could do the spider. A huge, more demonic version of the spiders in that movie would work.

IT's out to directors

Yesterday I spoke to David Kajganich and he told me something interesting about the remake of IT.

Apparently his script is currently out to directors, and some very interesting filmmakers have started talking to the studio. This can be a lengthy process, though, so there may not be more news about it for a couple of months but it's moving on as it should.

That is excellent news. I want to get that gig, btw.

Between this and the news regarding the Stand, I've pretty much got full wood right now. My two favorite King novels. I just hope they dont get screwed up along the way.

^^^^ Speaking of The Stand, I just started it last night. IT has always been my favorite King novel, but I hear constantly how the Stand is his best.

Awesome news though, hopefully this project can start gaining ground soon. Can these next two years get any more epic?
