Stephen King's "IT" remake has found a writer

Using ****ty movies to prove your point isn't really helping your argument.

What do you mean? They were kids in 58, they were all over 40 when they reunited in the 80's.

But for Mike I think Don Cheadle would be great. Bruce Campbell for Richie, and Amy Adams for Bev. Not sure on the rest.

Don Cheadle's a pretty good choice for mike. I'm just kinda sad that Eddie Murphy's career has tanked, and would hope that starring as Mike in the IT remake might revitalize it. Besides, as I wrote above, he has done drama and action as well as comedy and can play it straight very well.

As for Ben, how about Jerry O'Connel? It would actually be kinda poetic, the guy who played the fat kid in Stand By Me (based on the Stephen King short story The Body) would be playing the adult version of the fat kid from The Losers Club in Stephen King's IT. Only real problem I think is that he looks a lot younger than he really is.

Maybe not shown, but certainly IMPLIED. Like the rape scene in A Time To Kill, or Hound Dog for example.

Or alternatively, it could be done in much the same way the ending shot in Sleepaway Camp was done. In that movie they got a very petite body double who was 18 or 19 at the time, glued a latex mask of Angela's face over his actual face, put a long black wig on him and then shot the scene in relatively low light. In this case, the foreplay would be done using the kids and they would strip down to their underwear. Then they will be replaced by very petite bod doubles who are all 18 or 19 years old. Any physical naked contact would be done by them. The close ups of the kids faces during orgasm or what have you is done with the kids not even touching each other. splice it all together in the editing room and it will look like the young stars are all having sex.

Also, I would like to point out that the movie KIDS had very graphic underage sex in it, and it was very well received by the public AND very well reviewed.

That sex scene in IT will never make it into a movie version. It never should have been in the book either, come to think of it.

I'm sure there are million other ways to get the kids out of the sewer than having a group of 11-year-olds boys each have sex with an 11-year-old girl. It never made sense, it was just bizarre, and it gets creepier to read the older I get.

I'm a huge Stephen King fan, but I never understood what the hell he was thinking when he thought that scene was a good idea.

I'm not talking about the quality of the movies as a whole. Personally I found them to be rather lame myself. What I'm talking about is the quality of the make up and visual effects, and Eddie Murphy's acting skill.

The Nutty Professor is far from Eddie's best work, I whole heartedly agree. But the dinner scene where Eddie was playing the ENTIRE Klump family was really well done. And all the scenes where Eddie was done up to look like a fat man, he genuinely looked like he was fat.

And Life I found to be a total snoozer. But in the end when Eddie and Martin were 90 year old convicts, the make up and acting was so well done you almost believe that the actors had actually aged that much.

If he can believably play a 750 pound fat guy, or a 90 year old fart, then he can certainly believably play a character who's only ten years his junior. Just add a little hair colouring, or wash some out (depending on the situation) and let the man do his thing.

As much as I love King, he seems to have at least one scene per book that's there solely to elicit a response of: "Why the hell would you write that?!"

Trashcan Man being sodomized by a gun comes to mind for The Stand.

That would be another WTH moment by King as well. Not to mention the entire setting of Gerald's Game.

I still think the most disturbing moment in IT was when Patrick Hockstetter suffocated his baby brother. I read the book again right after my nephew was born, and that was just awful to read.

Come to think of it, I remember someone suggesting Ed Norton for Ben... I actually like that quite a bit.

What about Patrick Wilson for Bill? He already has a pretty high forehead :hehe:

Patrick is one of the sickest characters I've read of in any of the King novels i've read.

Henry's dad was scary, too. The way he acted made me feel sympathy for Henry even as I disliked him for the way he treated the Losers and Ben.

Ed Norton for Ben? I might be able to see that.

Don't know about Patrick Wilson for Bill though. While I have yet to read the book, in the made for TV movie Bill was always the good looking one in the group. Patrick Wilson is a decent enough actor, but I think he'd be better suited to play Stan.

So how's this for casting?

Uhh, seeing as how this doesn't even have a concrete director or a cast, it doesn't seem likely.

Well, for Bill I was going from the book, not the tv movie.

Anyway, do not like Richie's casting, but Gary Oldman as Pennywise? That could really be something there

I don't get it, what's so scary about Pennywise? Are you just scared of clowns in general?

I find Pennywise hilarious. He's the ultimate troll, the Library scene proves it.

What's Scary about him. He's Played by tim Curry how much scary can u get? I really think they could get him again to play . Maybe as the Voice and have somebody play the Actor

Speaking of "It"

intrada just released the soundtrack to the original TV movie.

Anyone else grabbing this?

Since Ritchie grows up to become a stand up comic/actor, I thought it best he be played by someone who is a stand up comic/actor. Jim Carrey is very accomplished in both comedy and drama, so I think he would do the role justice. But who would you suggest?

The man is so damn good at playing creepy. Plus, I understand that he also has a fairly quirky sense of humor. Which makes him doubly well suited to play Pennywise, in my book. If anyone can fill Tim Curry's big red clown shoes, it would be him.

Jim Carrey is a funnier comedian and a better actor, imo. However Jason Lee would require a much smaller paycheck.

No offense but having Carrey, Bale and Ed Norton in your list sets off my Totally Unrealistic Fan Casting alarm. Lee easily has the mouth to play a stand-up comic and you'd be a lot more likely to see him in this than Jim Carrey.

In the end Lee is just a fancast too but I like to try and make them somewhat plausible.
