Stephen King's "IT" remake has found a writer

Seeing Jason Lee and Jerry OConnel's names brought up kind of made me laugh as they've both played characters in King-based movies.

In the case of Lee he was playing the adult version of a child character.

No offense but having Carrey, Bale and Ed Norton in your list sets off my Totally Unrealistic Fan Casting alarm. Lee easily has the mouth to play a stand-up comic and you'd be a lot more likely to see him in this than Jim Carrey.

In the end Lee is just a fancast too but I like to try and make them somewhat plausible.

Most movies have at least two major stars cast in lead roles. Ed Norton AND Brad Pitt in Fight Club. Brad Pitt AND Tom Cruise in Interview With The Vampire. Ed Norton AND Anthony Hopkins in Red Dragon. And let's not forget practically THE ENTIRE CAST of The Expendables.

So a cast of eight or nine actors to play the leads in a movie, where most of them are well known and highly respected and two or three of them are major stars isn't all that unrealistic.

And part of the reason I suggested Jerry O'Connell as Ben is because of his role in Stand By Me. I thought it would be kinda poetic for him to play the adult version of the fat kid of The Losers Club in IT after having played the fat kid in Stand By Me.

Ah! That explains why I was unaware of that. Dreamcatcher is one of the few Stephen King movies I haven't seen.

But seriously, I wasn't a huge fan of the giant spider either. But the silver did make sense. "IT" was only really visible to someone who believes in the unimaginable. Children who are taught to believe in Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, etc, etc, etc, are especially vulnerable to "IT". But that works both ways. A kid who watches monster movies and knows all the monster movie lore, and BELIEVES that real monsters can be killed in the same way, then shooting it with silver will kill "IT".

Although, tbh, it probably would have made more sense if Mike had bought a gun and a home bullet making kit. Then over the last thirty years buy up any silver jewelry at the pawn shop and melt it down to make silver bullets. Maybe even make silver buckshot and have a 12 gauge shotgun as well. That's what I would have done in his place anyway.

Alright, since I'm a HUGE fan of the book and the movie (obviously the book is MUCH better than the movie), I figured I'd follow this thread...it's actually the best thread on the subject that I've found so far. So yeah, I spent a decent amount of time today thinking about the casting of the HOPEFULLY upcoming remake, and here's what I have...

The reason I chose Robert Downy Jr. is because he's a brilliant actor who can change his voice to many different accents/tones, and he definitely can have that "evil Pennywise" look. And look at that first picture of him above...if that isn't a Pennywise smile, I don't know what is. I truely believe that RDJ could pull Pennywise off perfectly!

Since directors usually use actors they've already worked with, i think it's safe to use such indications on who might be possibility cast. I'll be the first to suggest Micheal Fassbender as Bill, i know he's not the perfect choice as far as resemblance to the book goes, but he would take the lead protagonist role with stride. Plus he would add somewhat of a draw.
