Steven Soderbergh's Haywire

Oh yeah, there was a tweeeest. Kind of predictable but still good.

To those who have seen the move,

"****."

I enjoyed the movie immensely. No, Carano's no Meryl Streep, but I could see her becoming a serviceable action star in her own right.

I eventually came to appreciate the film's slow place, and the way Soderbergh sets up scenes. And I loved the music. Very 70s caper movie, like many of his other films. Carano's fight with Fassbender was spectacular, and the audience really felt every punch and kick.

Actually, I noticed a high number of unaccompanied females at the screening I went to. Anyone else notice that?

Were they wearing flannel shirts by chance?

Getting a feeling from this and The Grey(which supposedly has been receiving great reception), 2012 will be one of the GREAT YEARS of movies.

If Grey is good, this will be the first time I've seen 2 good movies in January in my life.

Because they're female lumberjacks and they're fans of MMA?

I think it was an obvious little gag of dialogue they threw in, but if Gina were to get better at her acting, I could totally see her as Wonder Woman...

I think WB is done experimenting. The Green Lantern alone setback the Justice League film a couple years. Thanks to that disaster, Man of Steel has immense pressure to succeed on the big-screen (critically and box office-wise).

WB needs this cash cow now that Harry Potter is gone and Nolan's Batman is nearing the end.

So that pretty much leaves Gina Carano on the outside looking in for the role of Wonder Woman. I appreciate Gina for what she is but there are far more prominent choices for the role.

i think he is referring to the more prominent chocies out there claim

when you have suggestions like - Taylor Cole,Bridget Regan,Jamie Alexander, Missy Peregrym, Amanda Righetti all are pretty low key side character actress's or tv actors

not saying they arent good but if gina breaks out huge with this movie they all will be left in the dirt imo

it is not always about the best actress but the most bankable not saying gina is bad either

but look at Lynda carter's resume before WW just saying

but this is the haywire thread is it not lol

Henry Cavill, Heath Ledger, Hugh Jackman, Tobey Maguire, Tom Hardy, Chris Hemsworth, etc were all considered low-key to the general audience before landing their respectful roles.

My point is just because Carano is a name that the public will identify with (assuming the film makes her a star) doesn't mean she's a great choice for the role.

I personally want to see a Wonder Woman and Justice League film in the near future but miscasting a massive role such as this one destroys all that hard work (Exhibit A - Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern and Martin Campbell as the director for a film of this genre -- green screen and CGI). I'm sorry, but it's like suggesting Megan Fox for the role or Angelina Jolie for Catwoman.

well looks like it is failing at the BO

not surprising

the plot is pretty generic and overused and it is rated R too

how many assasins betrayed movies have we seen lol

Underworld 4 is R rated and will be the second R rated movie in a week to open at number 1 with $25 million following Contraband. It's not the rating.

It'll probably profit at the BO, since it looks like it will do similar business to what The Mechanic did in the same weekend last year.

It's not a surprise it didn't make any money. And Underworld had the advantage of 3D tickets and being a sequel to a popular for it's smallish audience series. It still would have been number one over Red Tails but you can't overstate the advantage of the inflated 3D and or Imax prices. Plus Haywire had no real hooks like vampires and werewolves and was staring a nobody.

When I see the TV Spots. I think typical revenge movie. The type Jason Statham would do. I will see it when it comes out on DVD though

^this is why it is failing at BO

people would prefer underworld even tho the movies look and are the same

As a fan of the Underworld series I can certainly say Haywire offers something a lot more interesting and refreshing than Awakening did. But sadly its how the casual market works today.

I loved the movie, i think gina did a good job...the fighting scenes kicked ass

Just saw this, thought it kicked ass and Carano did a better job than I had been led to believe by some other opinions I've read. Hope she's able to stick around though I don't like her for Wonder Woman.

Haywire Review

Hi, im new to this forum. I've been working on movie reviews to go on youtube and was hoping to get some feedback.

The review is for Haywire, an espionage action thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh and introducing Gina Carano, best known as the first sanction MMA fighter, as the lead.

Just watched this. Worst movie i've ever seen.

Really? I thought it was a pretty awesome action flick.
