While the .gif was loading I noticed the car from "Mad Max". I do agree it looks like a cut scene from a game trailer.

In for one of the Berg's car chases. Few move the camera like him.

Movie looks like a blast.

Fans expecting a faithful adaption will probably be disappointed though. Spielberg rarely adapts the book faithfully when making it into a movie.

Considering the amount of negativity I've heard for the RPO book online, that might be a good thing.

That is a good thing. I don't want to watch an indulgent nostalgia fest. I'm not going into this movie just because I want to see things that I know in pop culture. A movie can't depend on that.

Looking really forward to this, solid first Teaser:up:

It has my money just for the Delorean.

My face melted watching this. I liked JL trailer but this was amazing, I needed to see a true blue old school Spielberg blockbuster released again.

First time in a loooooooong time I'm looking forward to a Spielberg film. I hope this does not get lost in the avalanche of cbms and various other big budget films.

lol

Anyone catch HQ in the trailer and was that the bike from Akira? I need to read the book ASAP.

Yeah, it's Kaneda's bike. People were arguing earlier whether it was a light cycle or not but if you see a still from the trailer it has the markings and scratches the one from the movie has.

wow those Delorean bits are awesome and nice use of that music and song for that trailer.

Interesting trailer. The kid in this looks like a young Spielberg.

That was a horrid trailer. Unless the goal is to confuse the hell out of viewers with a cluster**** of incoherent visuals, zero context, and speed racer type racing shenanigans. If that was the goal then that trailer succeeded.

It started out interesting then turned into a video game. I like the concept though.

To be fair those parts are a video game world. It looks like they went full cgi for the game world.

Not impressed by what I saw from this movie, not too impressed with JL either. A lot of these types of movies are fun I guess, a popcorn experience. But you don't carry it with you to the next day...or at least I don't.

Agreed. It was a CG mess for me as I have no attachment to the book.

It's basically a VR MMORPG so I don't really understand using the video game style as a slight against this. The style isn't going to be to everyone's taste though I guess.

I must ask (even though I will get a lot hate): Is the book just as awful and Member Berries packed as Stranger Things? I hate Stranger Things so bad.

I checked out the book once from a library and read a few chapters. It is packed with a lot of 80's nostalgia.

I rewatched the trailer on my TV and I just noticed the red/white Plymouth Christine was in the race section of that trailer wow.

Spielberg+Sci-fi=Good things.

[BLACKOUT]Except for the Aliens in Crystal Skull. Or according to George Lucas "extra dimensional beings."[/BLACKOUT]

My only worry is Zack Penn writing the script, which is cause for concern. But even if the screenplay is weak, it wouldn't be the first time Spielberg has elevated a mediocre script into a good movie (see Jurassic Park or War of the Worlds).

Cline did the first draft so he probably just took at pass at it. Hopefully no big deal.

This trailer was meant to capture our attention, not explain the plot. It worked for me.

I don't mean to be rude but folks hafta understand what a teaser trailer means. It teases you some awesome bits from the movie to get you hyped up about it. The trailer did just that. The next trailer will be more story focused. Also WB released the trailer in Hall H so they had show something for the crowd and this was a geek-crowd pleasing trailer IMO.

I was like, "Hey that looks like Kaneda's bike, but I think it's meant to be a light cycle from Tron", but hot damn that Spielberg brought arguably one of the most iconic vehicles in science fiction.

It's kinda funny that this is how WB ended up using their movie rights to Akira
