Steven Spielberg's ''Terra Nova''

This show makes no sense. According to "A Sound of Thunder" this show fails. You can't go back in time and start living without messing up the timeline and future. >_< makes no sense.

They addressed this by implying (truthfully or not) that they are in an alternate Earth not connected to their timeline.

They say in the pilot episode that it created a new timeline...they have no effect on the future they are from.

I watched the first three episodes of this. Not good, in any way. It comes down to how unlikeable the characters are, how badly acted some of it is and the general utter stupidity of them all.

They're all like "my god... it's amazing...." and my first thought was "so what happens in a few generations when the ice age comes?" I mean I buy that whole alt time line things, but the other stuff just annoys me. Plus the CGI is worse than Primeval.

dang, the game ran long, so, I only got the first 10 minute recorded....

it's a different universe

This weeks ep was pretty boring IMO.
It really was. I like the premise of the show, but they really need to step up the quality of the writing and plots. After the pilot introduced all of these interesting elements, they switched over to very formulaic threat-of-the-week sci fi clichés. I almost miss the son's being a *****ebag, if only to break the monotony a bit with his angsty whining.

I was reading some complaints of stuff like that on some other site....the answer seemed to be.....they have a few MILLION years to get prepared for it.

I fast forwarded through a lot of last night's episode. It was boring as hell, why are they so many filler episodes this early on? And it's not even interesting filler either.

Yeah, it's not just a few generations. I'm sure that, provided the colony survives at all, with their technology their distant descendants will be able to weather an ice age.

It feels as if the writers are just throwing ideas at a wall and seeing if anything stickks. They have piled up questions very quickly but then as you say, switched to a "case of the week" format. The show really needs to centralize it's focus IMO.

Yeah, or at the very least, showcase one or two characters per week. That's how Lost stayed interesting even when its central plot was going absolutely nowhere in the background.

this show sucks already. I don't care for the characters. They are millions of years in the past, and they act like nothing happened?

The main couple is really unbelievable. It's like if the show was thought of during the Slumdog Millionaire hype and they casted an Indian woman to play the female part (and not even an interesting looking one)......... but hey let's be hip and caste a white guy to play the main guy for some interracial sauciness, someone who looks like he belongs in a SciFy made for TV movie.

THis show is going to die, there was no hook in the first episode. They already explained the mathmatical drawing on the rocks....... so am I watching.......

If you are not interested in the characters, the show will die. The son is a terrible actor, and the daughter is an even more terrible actress.

This is fustrating me...... I miss LOST..... I'm going to bed

I completely agree but I do think the it's going to last a whole season. I'll be very surprised if it gets a 2nd pick up.

How do they know it created a new timeline when they can't test that out? If they have a machine that can create new timelines, why not go into a time that is more hospitable and not filled with man eating dinosaurs?

The crack in time was an accident it is a byproduct of another experience ( if I remember the pilote ), they didn't expected it and they have no choice about the destination.

they didn't invent a machine that created a new timeline... they found a wormhole that is a one way trip only to there... they can't control where it goes

or at least that was my understanding of it

Yeah, they don't control s***. They lucked out with a random wormhole that happened to go to 85 million BC.

They created a wormhole that led to that time...they had no control over it.

They mentioned that a special probe was sent through at first with a beacon so that they could find it. They never did find it...hence the theory of a new timeline.

I'm still pretty sure they're going to eventually reveal that Terra Nova doesn't exist in a new timeline after all. The idea that they left a probe there and it's not in exactly the same spot 85 million years later, so it must be a new timeline is... what's the word... oh yeah, moronic. :o
