Steven Spielberg's ''Terra Nova''

Show kinda reminded of a mix between Jurrasic Park, Avatar and Lost. I think the show has a lot of potential.

I know the budget is probably huge anyway, but if Falling Skies can look decent with Speilberg behind it, this needs to step up the game. It was not bad, but scenes like the guy getting eaten by the Carnotaur out of the back of the truck looked really terrible.

The visual effects were about on par with Falling Skies. :o

if they kill the ******ed son, this show will be mint. 1)he can't act, 2)he's miscast (notice how the other children look like legit offspring of their parents, then he's just the white kid plunked in there) 3)he's just plain annoying

lol what do you expect from an ex Degrassi cast member. He CAN act....its not always the actor ...but usually the character. Thats how Spielberg wants the character to be and the actor to play him.

I'm so sick to ear about the coloration of that kid, Some people (a lot) need to educate
themselves on genetics,
or more easily meet with some mixed/multi-mixed couples and see
that it doesn't work like just mixing colors and having a logical color result like it was paint...

Finally saw the pilot, not a bad start, Lang is awesome, he clearly can play a military leader but it's not a lazy retread of Quaritch. Taylor has compassion and a calmness that is the complete opposite of Quaritch and Lang absolutely is this shows main man.

The family are ok, except the son, why must he be another angst ridden *****e? He's on a beautiful new planet and he's gotten his Dad back after 2 years of a 6 year stretch, that's reason to be looking at the glass half full, and the excuse of leaving his GF behind is crap since he's already plotting his way into the daisy dukes of the first girl he met on Terra Nova.

On here we often have people complaining about how minority characters or female characters are depicted, I wonder how many teens here are offended at always being depicted as stupid, irresponsible, selfish, angsty *****e bags.

I'm in the middle on the SFX debate, I liked the big daytime action sequence even if it was very much a rip off of the Lost World sequence, and I thought the scene with Zoe feeding the long neck was cute. But the stuff with the slashers was typical "we don't have enough budget left so we'll shoot in the dark to hide the effects" type stuff.

I think the show has potential and I'll be checking out the 2nd ep, but from what I hear of the ratings, this will be another failed attempt at a "New LOST".

I believe they're on Earth but in a different time stream so they don't have to worry about screwing up the future (the future in their old timestream)

According to Wikipedia, its an Earth from 85 million years ago in an alternate universe.

I like that idea a lot. The location is gorgeous. They film in Hawaii?

And I thought the main character was Aidan Quinn. Until I found out it wasn't him. Then I got sad.

This is a pretty cool show. I haven't seen Falling Skies but I may have to start recording Terra Nova. Is Falling Skies as good as this?

Aren't they on Earth but in the past ?

And yet they don't seem the less bit surprised by all the wonder.

What drapes should we get?

Also walking around the place like it's an amusement park

"Oh i'll catch up with you later!"

"Okay, we'll be at the juice bar. Meet us at 3.

The giant leech and Dad getting into hijinks with vines fell flat with me.

Most of the people there were already there for about 7 years. They had time to get over it

Falling skies is much worse than this IMO (but opinions vary)

Both are a compilation of big old fat cliches and massive plot holes, you then pick if you
like more aliens or dinosaurs.

In my personal case I like both themes and i watch both shows even if their respective problems annoy me, to say the least.
I enjoy them but i wish the writers put more brain in it.

At least the teen son in FS isn't angsty. At all. Very refreshing, especially considering the closeness to WotW in concept.

Yeah, the kid in Falling Skies is surprisingly awesome. I chalk it up to his being a soldier who doesn't have time to worry about bulls*** like hating on his parents for every little thing.

The eldest son in this show, by contrast, is a massive *****e.

I'd say Falling Skies is better as well, but maybe that's an unfair comparison since Falling Skies has had a full season whereas this has only had a pilot episode. I wasn't exactly instantly engrossed in Falling Skies from the very first episode, to be honest.

Liked the premier movie. Nice effects and decent action, story, and acting. The only bad thing was that the oldest kid didn't get eaten.

Yeah, I'm about halfway through the premiere. I'm liking it except for the son. He's a remarkably awful character.

Like Hunter was referring to in an earlier post....why aren't teenagers everywhere rising up in protest that they are portrayed liked such worthless pieces of crap?
