Stiller and Wiig in....The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

There's a second trailer that's identical to the first except for the ending. Instead of the scene with him at the car rental place, there's a bit where he's stirred from his daydreaming in the park by Wiig calling his name. I haven't seen it online though.

this is one of the best posters ever

It's like they didn't even try. Stiller is way too big in compariosn to the wing and looks like he was just photochopped on there at the completely wrong angle. Ugh.

I have seen the trailer a few times in theaters. The first time I saw it, when it started, I nearly rolled my eyes, and then the mountain climber scene happened. I was legitimately stunned by the effect it had on me.

Saw the new trailer with Gravity, it definitely tells you more about the story and man I can't wait. I can see this being the sleeper Oscar hit.

It's a pity for Walter Mitty... mixed reviews trickle in.

Ben Stiller's ambitious and ambiguous directorial effort The Secret Life of Walter Mitty premiered today in New York for the Film Festival. The consensus is in, but there is no real word on the film's quality since it is so... divisive. The Huffington Post calls it 'Earnest Sap', in one of the film's few positive reviews (link). The Wrap says Stiller's Mitty 'tries too hard' (link), and The Playlist gave the film a C- (link). Definitely count this film out on Best Adapted Screenplay, and the chance it has at earning a Picture nomination is looking incredibly slim. However, it may play well to older audiences and audience members needing a Christmas movie diversion. Nothing more, nothing less.

Man, this movie has been getting slammed.

What happened to all that acclaim it was getting?

What happened to all that acclaim it was getting?

I'm not sure about that but I read a few reviews on Twitter last night and it seemed like everyone had something to moan about, ranging from awkward cgi scenes to product placement.

People are always b****ing about product placement though.

Yeah, but product placements sucks and I hate seeing it in movies. That's why I appreciate companies that avoid that kind of marketing.

Companies like Charles Schwab, America's leader in discount brokerage investing. With a 40-year history of innovation, Charles Schwab's commitment to investors sets it apart from the competition. Start planning for your future, today! :awesome:

That's a fine line though. Don't be like those sitcoms where they create a product that's obviously supposed to be a knock on the actual one but change it only slightly. I liked in Avengers where Hawkeye was helping that kid out the bus and saw an ad for the Alvin Ailey Dance Company on the side.

Damn that is such a bummer about those reviews. This is the one movie I've been massively looking forward to based on that trailer and response from the 20 minute preview.

If you want to see it, don't let reviews sway you. How many times have you heard critical bashing or critical acclaim and once you've seen the film you had the opposite reaction.

Make up your own mind.

Oh I will but it's always a little upsetting for a film that looked amazing and you wanted to do well is met with a luke-warm reception. I thought this would do well with the critics.

I haven't seen the movie so I'm not gonna say anything about it's quality but based on the reviews and the fact that this was a major passion project of Stiller's...I get the sense that he'd have done better to just star in it and be a producer whilst getting a better director to helm the film. Just a sense that I'm getting, I could be way off. I'll Know more when I see it.

Just watched the new trailer. It still looks like a wonderful film.

But it looks like a happy 'live life' film but with typical Stiller humour mixed in and I can't see them working.

The cinematography though is stunning.

The trailers have been good, no doubts there. But sadly that is no guarantee of a good movie.

I find the trailers unappealing. It looks like one of those try-hard "I'm a serious actor!" efforts from actors famous for their comedic roles. Looks too cutesy as well. I didn't need critics to tell that's what the movie is.

Really? I saw quite a bit of Stiller's usual comedy characteristics in that second trailer.

I think Stiller will comfortably deliver he goods. He's proven himself before.

Those two trailers really sell the film to me though and it's my most anticipated of the Winter. Which is why I'm now really intrigued to see the finished product after the very mixed initial reviews...

Will it possibly be re-editied before release? Or will that festival cut be it?

Another new and wonderful trailer.

3 Fresh 6 Rotten on RT though. But reading some of the reviews it seems like another case of "What the hell were the reviewers expecting?"

The very first teaser trailer released for this with no dialogue was amazing. Wouldn't mind seeing a movie exactly like that. Obviously, this will be different as we've seen with the newer trailers.

If there is one film that I want to live up to a trailer this it is this. Not Man of Steel, not The Hobbit but this, it looks like such a feel-good film. It also looks to be a great representation of a more introverted person rather than the typical awkward Michael Cera types that's usually seen.
