Not to mention the people who DO play online, but don't want to be bothered with rage quitters/racists (via chat)/LAG LAG LAG...

Single-player content in fighting games is just going increasingly extinct. I remember SoulCalibur 3's single-player content being ridiculously good and numerous

oh yeah. lag is a BIG reason why I don't enjoy playing online much.

like, I've been venturing into online play with WWE 2K16. and most of the time, there's so much lag that it feels like I can't even hit my opponent or pull of moves like I can in offline play. it makes the experience frustrating especially when somehow the opponent can keep pounding on you and you can't seem to do anything in response because of the lag.

we may be in the minority. but yes, there are players who play fighting games for single player modes. I know I can't be the only one. :o

not everyone has family or friends they can invite over to play against.

not everyone wants to play online matches ( mainly because we're not that good online....lol ).

no, some players just want to play the offline, single player stuff like arcade mode or story mode or even just a quick, pick up and play exhibition match against the CPU. We are casual players who aren't into the competitive stuff. And there's no reason why we should be left out.

it doesn't really take much to add a proper arcade mode where there's more than 2 or 4 matches for each character. It doesn't take much to add a basic vs CPU mode which seems like it's a classic mode in all fighting games.
Fighting games by their very nature are competitive. If you want CPU combat, there is training mode. But all fighting games have moved directly told competitive play, because that is the only way they can survive. The amount of people who aren't in it to player others must be tiny.

It is like playing a MOBA, and asking about the single player. There is like zero point. Street Fighter is the fighting game. It goes on after Marvel at Evo.

tekken 7 seems to be very story driven this time around.

tekken 6, even though it sucked, certainly was

that's not an excuse. limiting single player content and charging the same amount ($60) for a primarily multiplayer product is a direction the industry is taking that isn't a positive one. the genre doesn't matter unless I guess if it's meant to be an mmo. most of those are on PC though, and I feel like the pricing scheme is a little different there than compared to consoles

destiny is a totally different game, but is of a similar concept in this context. I sold it when I got my white Ps4 bundle because I got absolutely no desire to play a game for $60 that is only online.

Really weak release. I don't know. I could've easily wait another 6-12 months till they get their **** together.

Bugs, PATHETIC CENSORSHIP, barely any content, no rematch button, disconnects after so many betas. I regret I spent money on it.

Me leaving the country for a month is a blessing in disguise bc I wont be able to get this at launch. Hopefully theres a bit more here when I return

well most of you know the deal already but this was put up any ways.

I don't see what being "competitive" has to do with lacking basic single player content like a vs CPU mode. why does one have to exclude the other?

exactly.

Because you are not the target audience for this game. Competitive fighting fans, the real fighter fans, are. At least at launch any way. Everything a real fighter fan needs is here, for the most part. You've got your training mode and you have your ranked/casual online modes(altho spectator mode and real lobbies wont hit until march). Thats it, thats all thats needed for the core community of this series. Its clear they wanted to get this out and make sure the core audience had their game going into EVO and why the other, superfluous modes will come later. Think of this game right now as an arcade cabinet.

I mean i get being bummed by the no Player v CPU, as iv said thats my primary training tool, but everything the competitive player needs is here and thats this games focus, at launch. And if whats here currently isn't your cup of tea, cool, just wait. All the single player modes will be added later, for FREE as will just about everything else for this game.

Just gotta understand that this game is aimed towards a very specific audience right now, but that'll change over the coming months.

That is so f'ing stupid I don't even know where to begin. Online/offline in NO way determines what a game is "worth". You can have an online title with tons of content just as easily as you can have a single player title with little to offer. Their worth isn't based on who the games target audience is, at all.

People are still chaffing over this? It is the least of the problems this game has at the moment.

yeah. I'm clearly not the intended initial target audience.

I'm just so bummed about this because I've been excited for this game for so long and I had NO idea all of that single player content had been left out at launch.

I knew about the story mode coming out in June but Player vs CPU is so basic that I'm most shocked about that being left out.

so, yeah, I'm still debating if I should pick this up right now. I do have it preordered for the Cammy alt and I do have some coupons that I can use to bring the price down to around $20 or so for the base game.

so, maybe for that price I might pick it up and just mess around with training mode and survival mode while I await more single player content.

or....maybe......I'll just wait........

I'm not rushing out to buy it like I had originally planned, that's for sure.

I'm sure there was a small group of people who really enjoy Tomb Raider's tacked on multiplayer mode. But they chose to drop the multi in the sequel. At least you should be grateful there's some attempt to cater to you, even if it's not at launch.

If it makes the sp crowd feel any better, there are some inexcusable absences for online players as well. Lobbies are only 2 players and there's no kind of spectator mode, so as it is right now there's no classic King of the Hill type gameplay. 8 player lobbies and spectator mode is coming out next month tho

It's probably not the only thing he noticed, but since you chose to use all caps as if you're screaming it, that sort of draws more attention.

Playing the game. There is a Survival Mode. That is against the CPU. So it is there.

I feel better now. :o :oldrazz:

Besides some network hiccups, there's very few problems. Just a general lack of game. A small roster with very thin game modes. But what's there is beautiful. Prob the most technically sound fighter ever.

Exactly. It's not only SP, MP is extremely primitive as well. Early access at best.

Capcom fighting network, my ass. Not only there's no single player in any meaningful way, I don't receive any online battles either. Was sitting for an hour in the training mode till server disconnect.

It reminds me a lot of Splatoon when it launched. I understand the issues, but I guess I just struggle to understand why it's a big deal whenever you know the content is coming, and for free. I guess it's just a personal thing. It's like some people just have to have everything upfront, but if you have a little patience that stuff is going to come anyway. Like how Splatoon has a good amount of maps and weapons and stuff now, all for free. I want the game enough now that I don't mind to wait a bit for those other things.

I don't care if you think it's stupid. Especially not with that closeminded, condescending attitude. This is the way I perceive it as a consumer in video games and obviously it isn't an isolated complaint.

we've talked about this before, and my opinion hasn't changed. if you can't have a disagreeing conversation without showing mutual respect then I have no intention of discussing it further.
