Chance Werner, an eighteen-year-old from Cartersville, Georgia died on Saturday after he was tied to a shopping cart and pushed into a Lake Allatoona only hours after graduating from high school. The death was a result of a botched game he was playing with friends.
A report from the Associated Press, via Georgia Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Melissa Cummings, reveals the details of the game:
She says in the game Saturday night, participants sat in a shopping cart that was tied to a pole.
Others pushed the cart to the end of the dock so that the person sitting in it would be flung into the water. Cummings says the cart was tied to Werner instead of a pole and it pulled him under.
No more games.

Joe the Plumber: "Your Dead Kids Dont Trump My Constitutional Rights"
Stay classy dude. This is the kind of idiot that makes people hate Republicans
He's not patriotic enough. One of those flags should be a gun painted to look like a flag.are there enough flags in the background? i think Joe might be overcompensating.
A senior at Duke University who was banned from graduating after a school panel found him responsible for raping an "emotional" classmate has filed suit to get his degree so he can accept a "prestigious position" offered to him by a firm on Wall Street.
Via WRAL.com:
Lewis McLeod, a psychology major from Australia, says that, without his degree, his entire future is on hold.
According to the motion filed by Schwartz & Shaw of Raleigh, McLeod took a female Duke student back to his home on Nov. 14. McLeod alleges their sex was consensual and that the woman "got emotional" and began to cry.
McLeod's suit claims the victim filed complaints with the local police and the school and no charges were filed, though the Durham police said they had no record of the case. A university conduct panel eventually investigated and found McLeod guilty of sexual assault, expelling him just shy of graduation.
McLeod's 40-page complaint sounds like a list of stock complaints made by accused students about school-level sexual misconduct procedures:
McLeod's lawsuit describes a "sloppy investigation" that "violated Duke University's own written standards ... as well as all notions of fundamental fairness."...
A key argument is whether the alleged victim was so drunk as to unable to make a decision to have sex. McLeod says he and the woman were drinking together a Durham bar and took a cab together back to his house, where it was understood that they would have sex.
McLeod also questions the use of anonymous friends of the woman who provided testimony against him, while McLeod was not allowed to use his roommate as a witness.
McLeod is being represented by an attorney who also defended a Duke lacrosse player from allegations of sexual assaultallegations against many team members that were famously discredited after a lengthy public debate.
The ex-student claims there is urgency to his case because he has a job offer on the table from "a Wall Street firm," but only if he has a degree in hand:
If he can't start that job as planned in July, McLeod's lawyers wrote, "inability to actually assume employment in this prestigious position is substantially certain to negatively impact him forevermore."
A Houston, Texas man is accused of beating his 14-year-old daughter after he found out she wanted to dance with a black friend at her upcoming quinceañera celebration.
Aaron Aranza, 37, allegedly broke up a party where his daughter was practicing her dancing after he learned she'd chosen a 15-year-old black boy as her partner. After kicking everybody out, he referred to the young man using a racial epithet, and asked his daughter if she was really going to dance with the boy at her 15th birthday celebration.
"Are you serious?" he asked.
He then allegedly pushed the young man, telling him, "I don't care that you're a kid."
According to charging documents, he then dragged his daughter inside, where he hit her with a belt and threw her down, causing her to hit her arm on a coffee table. He also reportedly threatened to take her to his house to live, even though her mother has custody.
Aranza has been charged with injury to a child. He's in jail, pending $20,000 bail.
Administrators at a Utah high school were forced to defend their editorial policies this week after they were caught photoshopping yearbook photos of female students who showed too much skin on picture day.
The students are protesting the decision, arguing the school edited and published the retouched shots without warning. The students also point out the school was somewhat inconsistent and heavy-handed, drawing all over one student's photo but leaving untouched a photo of another student wearing the same shirt.
The school's Superintendent told FOX retouching is standard in the yearbook-photo industry and that the students should have known because a sign was posted on picture day warning the photos might be edited.
"We only apologize in the sense that we want to be more consistent with what we`re trying to do in that sense we can help kids better prepare for their future by knowing how to dress appropriately for things," the school's Superintendent told FOX.
A regional airline pilot flew directly to jail after a lame attempt at smuggling cocaine into the country landed him in the hospital.
Police say Stanley Rafael Hill, a 49-year-old pilot and father of two, flew to Colombia this weekend and loaded up on the cocaine, swallowing more than sixty bags of drugs before boarding a commercial flight to Houston as a passenger.
Unfortunately for Hill, the catand the cocainewas soon out of the bag when at least one of the balloons popped inside his stomach midway through the flight.
When the flight landed in Houston, Hill was forced to request medical help and is currently recuperating in a Texas hospital room guarded by an armed police officer. He's been charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
It's not clear whether Hill, an FAA-licensed commercial pilot with clearance to fly 737's, had special security clearances at the Colombian airport he flew out ofthough his ill-advised choice to swallow 62 bags of cocaine suggests he probably did not.
A Virginia tenth grader says he attacked and killed his parents because they acted too much like parents, "taking away [his] iPod and stuff."
Vincent Parker, a 16-year-old honor roll student, was arrested after he randomly attacked and killed his parents last December.
Police said Parker left school early on December 19, raced home before his father left work, and attacked his mother. According to WKTR:
Vincent Parker attacked his mother Carol as she emerged from an upstairs bathroom in their Bland Street home. He admitted to police he doused his mother with pepper spray, stabbed her in the eye, and then beat her in the face and head with a baseball bat and a crowbar "until she stopped breathing." A medical examiner identified 25 separate smashes and stabs to Carol Parker's neck, face and head.
When Vincent's father Wayne Parker came home, Vincent struck him with a crowbar and stabbed him several times. Wayne Parker lived long enough to tell police what happened.
Police recovered the bat, the crowbar, and five bloody knives from the house.
Parker pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder this week, but first apparently tried to tell police that his father had attacked him first.
Eventually he confessed, telling investigators, "I just remember getting mad... It's all from my dad. All this stuff like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff."

A Pennsylvania man is accused of stealing human skin from a hospital over a period of more than two years, costing the hospital $350,000.
Gary Dudek, 54, worked as a sales rep for a medical company that supplied the hospital with skin grafts, which gave him an "open purchase order" to order skin for the facility. After a financial audit this January, though, Mercy discovered he'd ordered hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of unauthorized skin, which never made it to the hospital.
Investigators believe he repeatedly stole the graftswhich, again, are human skinbetween November 2011 and July 2013.
Gary Dudek, 54, of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, is charged with theft and tampering with records. According to investigators, Dudek repeatedly stole skin grafts from Mercy Philadelphia Hospital between November 2011 and July 2013.
Dudek was seen twice on surveillance video taking the skin grafts from the hospital and putting them in his car.
Police don't know his motives, but they suspect he was planning to sell the skin and collect the commission.
Dudek's lawyer believes the hospital should be suing instead of pursuing a criminal case against his client.
"If Mercy Hospital has suffered losses and they can be deemed to be as a result of Mr. Dudek's actions then perhaps a civil suit could have been initiated. But to take this into the criminal arena against a man who has been nothing but hard-working and law-abiding his entire life is a bit draconian, in my view," he told NBC News.
The Washington Redskinsthe team of choice for dumb, angry white menmay be a racist disgrace, but let's not forget that they're also a case study in hilariously incompetent propaganda-mongering.
If you looked at Twitter yesterday, you may have chuckled at the team's doomed attempt to rally support with a "#RedskinsPride" hashtag. But that's not the only incompetent PR move the team made yesterday! USA Today reports that the poor saps responsible for polishing the Redskins' reputation were so desperate to have a Real Live Native American standing on a podium with the Redskins logo in the background and smiling that they (randomly) "called the leader of a small Nevada tribe Thursday and asked him to come to the Washington region for a news media event with owner Daniel Snyder on Monday." If you are the sort of person who does not believe that a team named "Redskins" is racist, you'll never guess what happened next:
"Someone working for the team called me out of the blue to invite me to a meeting in D.C. with the team and its owners and wanted to know what I thought of the team name," [Chairman Joseph Holley of the Battle Mountain Band of Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians] said in an NCAI statement released to USA TODAY Sports. "They did not tell me what the meeting was about, what I would be doing or who else was invited and wanted my answer in just a few hours. My answer was no. I've got responsibilities to my community and members here at home and can't be running off to D.C. at a moment's notice to meet with a football team to do who knows what."
A Hawaii man was sentenced to a year of probation and a $200 fine for making his son walk one mile home from school as punishment.
Robert Demond told the court that after he picked his son up from school last October, he asked about a "matter that had come to his attention." When his son didn't respond, Demond stopped the car and told his son, whose age was not released, to walk the remaining mile to their house.
Calling his disciplinary style "old-school,"Judge Kathleen Watanabe found Demond guilty of a misdemeanor charge of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor. In addition to the probation and fine, Demond will have to take a child parenting class.
From The Garden Island:
"How far did you make him walk?" asked Judge Kathleen Watanabe.
"About a mile," Demond said.
These are different times, Watanabe said. It is understandable that you became upset with your son, but it is dangerous for children to walk along the highway, and there are predators out there, she said. The age of the child was not revealed in the course of the hearing and the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney would not divulge further information.
Demond, who said such punishment was common when he was growing up, agreed to his sentence and assured the judge he'd handle similar situations differently in the future.
UPDATE 9:20 am: Demond's son was 8 at the time of the incident. The two-lane road the son was dropped off onKuhio Highway reportedly has 10-25 foot shoulders on each side but no sidewalks. From KHON:
De Mond said when he picked up his eight-year-old son from A-plus at Kilauea Elementary School, he noticed his son was on a time-out. On their way home, De Mond asked his son what happened.
"He answered, 'I don't know,' and I go, 'You need to take responsibility for your actions. Why were you in time out?' He kept saying 'I don't know," De Mond said.
About a mile from home, De Mond stopped the car along Kuhio Hwy. and told his son to walk home, he said.
"(I told him) basically think about what you did in A-plus to put you in time out," he said. De Mond continued home with his two other sons.
When De Mond went back roughly five minutes later, his son was gone, De Mond said.
Turns out, a bystander saw him crying, brought him back to the school and called police.

January Jones can't stand how she looks in selfies she takes while driving.

Case in point: The Mad Men actress took to Instagram the other day to prove just how much she dislikes selfies while driving.
"hate selfies while driving, I look so distracted. #bvlgari #beatit," she wrote along with the photo. In the pic, Jones sits behind the wheel looking at the road in front of her, distracted by traffic and not paying attention to her camera lens. Though distracted, Jones looks flawless with her blond hair up and giant retro sunglasses covering her eyes.
The family of India's wealthiest guru, with an estate reportedly valued at $167 million, believes he died of a heart attack in late January. But his followers have spirited him away to a temple freezer and refuse to turn his body over because, they say, "he has been in deep meditation."
The dispute over His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj, who's currently jammed into a commercial freezer in his Jalandhar ashram, may be about money, or it may be about the mysteries of human existence, depending on who you listen to. Here's more from Vocativ's Luke Malone:
His wife and son want his body released for cremation and are accusing his disciples of covering up the death in an attempt to keep control of his wealth. The disciples say he is in a deep meditative state called samadhi and have placed him in the heavily guarded freezer until he decides to wake up. For now, only elders and their doctors are allowed to enter.
"Maharaj has been in deep meditation," an unnamed aide told The Telegraph. "He has spent many years meditating in subzero temperatures in the Himalayas, there is nothing unusual in it. He will return to life as soon as he feels, and we will ensure his body is preserved until then."
A local court overturned the guru's death report, saying it couldn't wade into religious matters. In the meantime, his holdingsincluding a "property portfolio that spans India, the U.S., South America, Australia, the Middle East and Europe"remain in a state of limbo. Or, if you prefer, samsara.
Not content to have scared wheelchair-bound moms, gotten kicked out of Chipotle, Chili's and Sonic, and set the gun-rights cause back a century, the supreme gentlemen of the open-carry movement struck on another dumb tactic: Intimidate a veteran and chase him through the streets.
Once again, Mark Follman at Mother Jones has the video in which the Texas gun crew, which has fanned out across a Fort Worth broad traffic intersection, taunts a man who identifies himself as James, a Marine infantry veteran, and follows him a quarter-mile or so back to his car. You know, with their guns:
The men, members of the groups Open Carry Texas and Open Carry Tarrant County, asked him which news network he was with. When he said he wasn't, things began turning frosty. They pressed him about what he thought of their demonstration, and he replied with an unvarnished opinion that included profanities, language he told me he regrets having used.
"I'm all for responsible gun owners," he says. "What I was taught was not to wear it around like a gold chain. What they're doing is irresponsible. It intimidates the public, and people have just as much right to be comfortable in their public environment as these guys have a right to own their firearms."
Suddenly he was surrounded by about a half dozen armed men. They started badgering him with questions and accusing him of being anti-American. "I said, 'Are you kidding me? I served in the military.' They were trying to intimidate me, and when I didn't cower that upset them," he said. But he was starting to feel nervous and decided to disengage and walk away.
James is not totally blameless in this affair. He came out to film all the rifle-toting Second Amendment Men and spouted a long line of blue language in their faces along the way. He could have walked away faster and sooner. One thing that's inadvisable in an encounter with a pack of openly armed gun nuts is confronting them directly.
But like the armed idiots, he had every right to do what he was doing. He didn't have to walk away faster and sooner. And he posed less of a threat to his fellow Texans.
Any wahoo toting an AR down the street to brag about his rights should be okay with a fellow citizen's right to call him an ******* and film him on the street. And no responsible gun owner should ever, ever, ever follow someone through the streets against their wishes, cornering them. We've been there before. It's menacing, it's intimidating, and takes matters to the brink of violence... which these bullish *******s would have been only to happy to take care of with their weapons.
I will keep saying it until my puffy, weary face is eight shades of indigo: If you are armed, you have a responsibility not to be a *****ebag, not to seek out a conflict, not to think of yourself as the righteous head of Thor's veiny, hammering proboscis. You have all of the power. If you have none of the sense to wield it respectfully and reluctantly, you deserve none of the power.
Not surprising. I wish people would just constantly call the police on these idiots.Texas Gun Nuts Go After a Marine Vet on the Street on Memorial Day

A Florida senior was barred from his high school's commencement after he sent administrators scurrying to cover up the gigantic wang he'd etched into the graduation ceremony field.
Via the Tampa Bay Times:
Nature Coast Technical High School officials were setting up the stage Wednesday for graduation at the school's football stadium when they encountered, uh, a bit of an issue.
Spanning nearly the width of the field was a prankster's rendition of the male anatomy. Big. Obscene. And without a doubt inappropriate for tonight's graduation ceremony.
News of the unmistakable rendering of a penis sped through the school and gained traction on social media.
Principal Toni-Ann Noyes quickly discovered that the act had been perpetrated by a Nature Coast senior who sprayed some type of weed killer on the field about two weeks ago.
"I'm going to have over 2,000 people sitting in our stands, and we take great pride in our Nature Coast graduation," Noyes said. "I was very disappointed that someone would do this and not think of the other students and the families that would have to look at this."
The school used green paint to try and cover up the dick, shown above, and they also painted a giant "2014" across the field to obscure it in time for the ceremony.
Noyes had choice words for the enterprising perpetrator, who could be charged with trespassing. "He didn't think of the ramifications," she told the Times. "He lived in the moment."
