I'm happy that we got three solid and great comic book films this year with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Guardians of the Galaxy, and the great thing about the three is that they are all different types of film

Of the 2014 comic book movies I've seen this year, my favorite has to be Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Despite obviously knowing who the Winter Soldier was, this movie packed many punches and surprises. I loved, loved, LOVED this movie. I loved Captain America: The First Avenger as well. If the third movie turns out to be great as well, then I will happily say that Captain America is the best comic book movie trilogy to date.

A very-close second is Guardians of the Galaxy. This is just a fun, action-packed, and heartfelt movie. It's everything you'd want in a Summer blockbuster, really.

Third place is X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is the best clean-up job of a franchise I've ever seen, to be honest. I was looking forward to this film, but I was also accepting the high possibility of this movie being a huge mess. Turns out that this movie is the best X-Men movie to date! It's not perfection in my eyes (I'm still an unsatisfied Rogue fan), but it's still a damn great movie. The acting is top-notch, the action is new and fresh (which is rare for comic book films nowadays), and the suspense was effective.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is in dead last place. Most people know how much I hate this movie. While watching it, it felt like I was being bullied by some bone-headed jock for liking Spider-Man, with the bully showcasing reasons as to why Spider-Man is dumb. Yup, that's how this movie made me feel. [BLACKOUT]Considering that Howard the Duck is currently in an infinitely better comic book movie than Spider-Man is right now, I'd say it's a sad, sad time to be a Spider-Man fan.[/BLACKOUT]

Here's a question...

Keep in mind, there is ZERO chance of this being considered the "best."

The Asylum (the movie studio famous for mockbusters, like Transmorphers, Paranormal Entity, Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies etc...as well as the Sharknado films) has a new comic book line. What they are apparently doing is releasing a single issue of a comic...then releasing a movie based on it with the words "Based on the graphic novel" splashed across the cover. Obviously this is being done solely to catch people's eyes. The first I have seen is Jailbait, a female prison sexploitation film that was released this year (and is now on Netflix Instant).

So...my question...do these count as "comic book films"??? I mean...the comics are being released first (at least, I assume they are)...but only so the DVD cover can use that fact on the cover.

Some want to wait for Big Hero Six.

Update:

In this order:

Guardians of the Galaxy/Captain America Winter Soldier
X-Men DOFP
Godzilla (he had a comic right?)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Robocop
300 Rise of an Empire
Amazing Spider-Man 2

Still haven't seen Transformers 4

For me the best comic book movies for 2014

1. Guardians of the Galaxy

2. Captain America Winter Soilder

3. X men Days of Future Past

4. Amazing Spider Man 2 ( I am one of the people that still like the movie despite its flaws).

Disappointments for this year 2014

Godzilla

Robocop 2014

300 rise of an empire

Transformers Age of Extinction

In between

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The movie wasn't the train wreck we all thought it was gonna be, but it's still not a great movie either, due to the extremely silly plot that makes no sense, acting choices and hit or miss humor. But the action and turtles were great.

The ones I've seen so far;

Days of Future Past
Guardians of the Galaxy
The Winter Soldier

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

If we include all CBMs then it's Snowpiercer, The Edge of Tomorrow, and The Lego Movie as the top-3.

But if we go by the intention of this thread, it's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Edge of Tomorrow and Snowpiercer were eligible, Snowpiercer barely so, considering this is a list of the more nerdy films, and fan boys usualy don't have hype for smaller films like that. It's also why blockbusters like Maleficent aren't elibible.

I gave the option for multiple votes in order to make things more interesting, and the question of this thread is more about the films you liked the most, instead of the ones that were better when it comes to writing, Directing, etc.

So how many should we vote for?
I picked my top 3: Cap 2, GotG, Big Hero 6

You vote for your favorite ones, which was what you did.

Cap is at the top.

Rest of the top tier is Guardians, Snowpiercer and X-Men.

Next Godzilla and Edge of Tomorrow.

Average to barely average is 300, Sin City, Robocop and Spider-Man.

Bottom of the barrel is Turtles and Transformers.

I still need to see Big Hero Six.

Cap 2
Snowpiercer (that's no CBM, or superhero film)
GotG
X-Men DOFP
TMNT
RoboCop
Amazing Spider-Man 2
Zilla zilla

Need to watch:
Big Hero Six.

And the rest can be ignored.
