Of the 2014 comic book movies I've seen this year, my favorite has to be Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Despite obviously knowing who the Winter Soldier was, this movie packed many punches and surprises. I loved, loved, LOVED this movie. I loved Captain America: The First Avenger as well. If the third movie turns out to be great as well, then I will happily say that Captain America is the best comic book movie trilogy to date.
A very-close second is Guardians of the Galaxy. This is just a fun, action-packed, and heartfelt movie. It's everything you'd want in a Summer blockbuster, really.
Third place is X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is the best clean-up job of a franchise I've ever seen, to be honest. I was looking forward to this film, but I was also accepting the high possibility of this movie being a huge mess. Turns out that this movie is the best X-Men movie to date! It's not perfection in my eyes (I'm still an unsatisfied Rogue fan), but it's still a damn great movie. The acting is top-notch, the action is new and fresh (which is rare for comic book films nowadays), and the suspense was effective.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is in dead last place. Most people know how much I hate this movie. While watching it, it felt like I was being bullied by some bone-headed jock for liking Spider-Man, with the bully showcasing reasons as to why Spider-Man is dumb. Yup, that's how this movie made me feel. [BLACKOUT]Considering that Howard the Duck is currently in an infinitely better comic book movie than Spider-Man is right now, I'd say it's a sad, sad time to be a Spider-Man fan.[/BLACKOUT]
