Ok, i know it's not really a catchy title and if this thread shouldn't be here i would like a moderator to change it.
So lets start, what was for you the worst sequel/prequel,spin-off, whatever for a film in your opinion, even if the first film was bad you can name a sequel that you think was also bad, it doesn't have to be as bad, but just bad in your opinion.
If you find covers for that film it would be better since if a title doesn't remind us of that film then a cover may remind us.
I'll start:

Catwoman

Just to show you as far as you can go from this continuation element,
this for example was a spin-off/reboot of batman returns, and kind of a sequel since there are in the begining pictures that may associate both catwomens.

Aliens

There, I said it, live with it. As an action movie an okay film (military action clearly is not my genre), maybe even good. But as a SEQUEL to Alien, one of the greatest horror movies ever made? terrible.

Wow. Aliens is a great movie regardless what you think.

It's like me putting up 'The Empire Strikes Back' and claiming it was a BAD sequel. It's all about the consensus too, along with it's legacy, and what role it played in pop culture

Like Octoberist said "Aliens is a great movie regardless..."

I don't know..I mean, I can dislike Citizen Kane* but still can acknowledge it's role in culture and filmmaking. Just because I dislike a movie doesn't mean it's a bad film.

*I don't dislike Citizen Kane. I'm just using it as an example.

As I sad, it's not a bad film, propably it's a good one (I just can't tell, because I'm not into that specific Space Marines with big guns shooting at everything in sight genre at all), but that it is a bad sequel to Alien, a movie with a completly different tone, topic and mood.

I get what you're saying I don't think it's a bad sequel at all. If you want a bad sequel, look at Alien 3 or Alien 4 or the spin-offs Alien Vs. Predator 1 and 2, who took it to the next level of lameness. At least Aliens has great world-building, an atmosphere, and character development that the other Alien movies lacked.

Also, you have to think that it's the first film that I can think of that even have Space Marines. In fact, without Aliens, you wouldn't have Halo or Gears of War (or any modern video game shooter).

I hope that you're not letting those tamper with what Aliens started.

I actually liked Alien 3, though it is definitely a flawed film.

People here are being ridiculous. Spider-Man 3 was not nearly as good as the first two, but to say it is one of the worst sequels of all time is ridiculous. It at least is creatively related to the previous films and gives a **** about its characters and who they are.

As for Aliens...I have no words for what is one of the best sequels of all time, albeit I agree that Alien is the better film.

Here are some really terrible sequels:

Batman & Robin

Superman III

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace

X-Men: The Last Stand

Alien: Resurrection

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

Rocky V

In all honesty Rocky III and Rocky IV aren't very good either. But they're not historically bad by any means, in my opinion.

I think everyone can agree on X3. EVERYONE! (POINTS AT YOU)

Those are all good ones. I would also nominate:

I remember as a kid - prior to the release - on how the director of Mortal Kombat annihilation was taking trash on the first film. Heh heh.

Some more noms!!!

Damn, beat me to it. Oh well, so bad it needs to be posted twice.

HIGHLANDER II: THE QUICKENING

The first one's a fun little ride, then Mulcahy lost his mind and turned in an incomprehensible piece of nonsense. Not even the combined powers of Lambert, Connery, and Ironside could save it.

That's not true at all. When it comes down to it, whose opinion matters the most to you? Yours does or at least I hope it does. If, for example, I dislike Citizen Kane because I felt the pacing was bad, the characters weren't engaging enough, or that the plot was silly, it's a bad film. Sure, the time that went into the production of the film is of quality. Sure, it's highly regarded as arguably the greatest film ever made. My point is that it's considered a great film because of all the people of have seen the film, the vast majority's opinion was that it was great. But if you are in the minority, it doesn't make their opinions anymore right or wrong than your opinion.

If I don't like it, it's a bad film.

Citizen Kane aside, I completely disagree because nobody thinks in absolutes like that.

There are movies that I didn't like and thought were bad (Battle LA), and there are films that I didn't like because I can see the redeeming qualities the film may process.

Your approach can create double standards since it's so ridgid. If I said I didn't like a film that you liked and declare it bad, of course you'll be in a 'fighting mode' to defend it.

Is anyone else tired of threads like this? Post after post of the usual suspects like "Batman and Robin", "Spider-Man 3", "X-Men: The Last Stand", "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" (of which the latter three aren't all that bad)...BORING.

No sir, because when I say that a movie is bad, it is not an absolute statement unless I say state that it's a fact or that things like "...and if anyone else disagrees with me, they're stupid." Let's discuss another example. When a person criticizes that they don't like a certain dish at a restaurant and they say "this tastes horrible," they aren't saying an absolute statement. He is merely voicing his opinion.

Somebody shouldn't have to say "in my opinion" after they state their opinion to avoid sounding absolute. So many posters on this board always put "IMO" in their posts. It's unnecessary. Why type it? What is being typed is already considered that poster's opinion.

If you stated that you thought Pulp Fiction (my favorite film) was the worst film ever made, that's unfortunate that you didn't enjoy it. No skin off my back. I wouldn't go beast mode unless you said something like "Pulp Fiction is the worst film and whoever else likes it has a bad taste in movies."

I don't think Spider-man 3, Jaws 2 and Halloween III were bad, Spider-man 3 wasn't even a bad film, Jaws 2 was interesting and an interesting follow up, and Halloween III, people don't really like it because of the lack of Michael Myers.
Now this:
Jason8.jpg

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhaten
It had potential, i would have liked to see Jason killing people in new york non-stop, but 2/3 of the film were set on a boat and when he finally arrives in new york he doesn't even try to kill others, he only stalks the survivors of the ship, come on, he's not like that, he kill anybody, i repeat anybody that he finds, and now he enters to a bar without killing anyone? Pleas.
