Well I can certainly see that, but there's a difference between being "classic" and being "overrated". Although popular-Batman I think fails ultimately to grasp real substance of his character the same can be true of Wolverine though.

I will say that Tim Burton really helped **** Batman up for us true fans by creating a very basic caricature that everyone would interpret as the real deal.

Then you'll get a kick out of this, Crash:

I'm not a big Wolverine fan. I only wanted to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine because of Gambit.

This is one of the reasons why you're the man Mr Marx! That's exactly why I watched Origins. Gambit is full of awesome!

That was one of my main reasons. Then I left the theater sad. :csad:

I oughta slap the walrus for pulling the "true fan" crap into this.

well spider-man was my window into comics. in england there wasn't many characters that got wide distribution of their comics (year to half year later reprints.) the 80's spider-man cartoon and spider-man and his amazing friends were probably my first exposure to the character. from there i learnt about x-men and the 90s x-men cartoon started but i was familiar enough with the comic to still think it was not taking the material seriously enough. i knew batman from TAS and the burton movies and that led to reading trades of LOTDK stories and knightfall. I'd still probably prefer spider-man reading about him dealing with bullies and stopping himself from fighting them for their sake resonated with me at the time amongst other aspects of the character..

Because Batman sneaks around behind everyone's back and tries to hit them from behind. He's the classic back stabber.

Hey SB, I presume you're a fan of Smallville?...or just the Green Arrow?

He's stopping crime, not entered in a sparring tournament. Sneaking up on people is allowed if they're carrying machine guns and plan to shoot you. In fact, it's recommended.

Thought we were bros.

But I'm serious people that are actually fans of Batman comic books and graphic novels proper look at Burton's movies with distaste more often than not. Sure people are entitled to their opinions and if you say you love Batman and Tim Burton then who am I to tell you that you're wrong?

But what Burton did to the popular culture of Batman is a real shame because it turned a rich world ripe with adventure, excitement, crime, mystery, and fear into Edward Scissor Hands 2.

I read the comics and I like the Tim Burton movies. Then again, I also like the 60's TV show. There are very few versions of Batman I dislike.

I voted for the X-Men, though. Beast is my dawg. Or cat, rather.

I've read most major Batman comic stories, and I still liked Burton's first movie. It's not the classic that I thought it was when I was a kid, but it's still a good movie IMO. Returns sucked hardcore though. I never realized that it was so bad.

I'm torn between Batman (bruce) and Dick as Nightwing. Since they are both in the bat family I just voted for bats.

You're lack of Deadpool disturbs me.

But I went with Spider-Man. Why? I love the wise-crackers!

Deadpool isn't exactly a person I would describe as a hero.

More of a Chaotic Neutral.

this is interesting. the same poll was done before and spider-man was the clear winner. it seems TDK has swayed peoples votes or brought lots of new fans

Well, that's easy. Batman. Anyone familiar with my posts understands why. Close runners up are Green Lantern (Kyle, then Hal), the Flash (Wally, then Barry), Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, and Cyclops.

Huh?

How would Spider-Man hurt Spider-Man's reputation? Isn't that, yknow...impossible?

Unless you mean Spider-Man 3. Or Brand New Day.

Although, when you stop and think about it, Brand New Day was kind of necessary. One of the huge things that makes Spidey awesome is that Peter Parker is picked on, Spider-Man is portrayed as a menace in the Bugle. Making him a public celebrity takes away a lot of his character.

Plus, we wouldn't have Dark Reign without it. And this spectacular scene between Norman and Peter here.
