For now

1) Spider-Man.......................$403,706,375
2) Spider-Man 2....................$373,585,825
3) Batman.............................$251,188,924
4) X-Men: The Last Stand......$230,119,823

If we're lucky enough, 'THE LAST STAND' will grab those 22 million of dollars needed to top 'BATMAN', thus becoming the 3d most grossing superhero movie of the modern times.

At this point, Jackman or not, Berry or not, whatever they will think to bring back Cyclops from the dead, X4 seems to me a solid REALITY. They will make it, of course.

I'm wondering if X3 will cash some dollars in the next weeks, before to go in DVD format.

Does that sum include DVD purchases? Because if it does, X3 should have a lock.

i dont think it includes dvds...and i think its hard to have more 22 million :( though being 4th (at least until next year, sm3) is great already.

No, those are the domestic box office totals.
Yeah $230m is only the domestic BO but is unlikely to rise a great deal more (certainly not $22m). With Pirates, Supes and other competitors coming out each week the BO increases will continue to decline. It's still a solid total and you can add another $200m in international BO. DVD etc will all be a bonus on top.

Well, I doubt that SR is going to top X3's US box office. But we'll see. The night is still young.

So why is this thread open (no offense flashman) and mine had to be closed?

imagine if BATMAN had been released with movies being close to 10 dollars instead of closer to 5 like it was.

that actually surprises me a little because i always thought spiderman 2 had done better lol. ive mostly seen people who said they liked spiderman 1 better than 2...still 4 is good  .

Because yours was comparing Superman to X-Men as far as quality. It implied that the former might be a threat of some kind to X3. That talk immediately led to flaming Superman Returns. Then fans got bent out of shape and start bashing X3, etc. We don't need that kind of flame bait here.

Flashman's thread is an entirely different matter: His is talking about where X3's box office ranks in comparison to ALL top-grossing superhero films--not just SR.

Big difference.

hopefully it won't beat Batman. :) i doubt it will.

X3 has already beaten Batman's worldwide totals.

What's truly amazing is that Batman made $411 million worldwide with only a $35 million production budget.

Zounds!

X4 ain't gonna happen. I'm gonna stand with my original belief saying that no matter what X3 makes at the BO, they're not gonna hassle over a X4.

I agree.

And despite that it's made $230 million Box Office, that's only around $30 million profit, which is MUCH lower profit than the 1st two, and Fox might not see the reward as worth the risk next time around.

Que? When you factor in worldwide totals (where Fox gets a bigger piece of the pie) AND DVD sales AND cable rights, X-Men is making Fox Oprah type scratch. Add the fact that Fox still operates under the deal they cut with Marvel that gives them the X-Rights so cheaply. Fox will never kill this golden goose. X4 will happen without a doubt. It'll just take some time and be a completely re-structured cast.

Screw Fox Nell. :o I hope they make the spinoffs and then Marvel gets the rights back so they can make X4.
