Since I live on the border, this weekend is going to be an orgy of competing fireworks displays. Loud noises like that always give my one cat incredible anxiety, so I bought one of those thundershirts that are supposed to help keep them calm during things like this. It's a little vest that you wrap around them. I guess the gentle pressure is supposed to be reassuring. Unfortunately, my cat did not understand this, no matter how detailed my explanations were...

This was also the point I realized I had no bandaids.

Yeah, people are often all too willing to look past things that don't involve them. I can understand the notion that you don't want to meddle in other people's affairs, but I would figure that line would be crossed once it includes domestic abuse. At that point, looking away makes you culpable yourself. As the popular GIF says, "People... what a bunch of bastards".

I'll state this again... I've never thought the caricature of New Yorkers was at all accurate my whole life. And I've gone out of my way to live like the opposite of that characterization in popular culture. After living in the city as long as have as an adult I've at least tried to do the bare minimum to help others out on the streets or in the subways. I'm no hero, but if someone is unconscious on the ground I'm gonna see if they are in need of help. If someone looks like someone else is going to harm them I'm gonna try and stop it. I know that's not everyone's reaction to those situations and there are good reasons why some would say "I'm not going to get involved" but there are times where it's just something that should be done.

But recent events make me think I was giving my fellow citizens too much credit.

i never said they were safe, just that they put on a helluva show

First piss cleaning of the year.

Dude just decides to up and drop trou and piss all over the doorway here at the job.

Is there a BETTER example of privilege than a rich **** out at a nightclub that decide that someone else should have to clean up their literal piss and ****?

But... I'm NOT supposed to get mad that they just did that?

Stop asking questions you don't want the answers to.

Also, how the **** is that JUST hyperextended... like, that should be torn in every way possible.

Trae, I'm not sure what the hell that's about, he rolled his ankle a little bit but it didnt seem that bad. if he doesnt play, we're screwed.

He's been a game-time decision the past two games, so you'd have to figure he's close to being ready. Either way, Lou Williams is ****ing rad. Is this because he had that one good season with the Raptors? Yes, yes it is.

I knew Lou a little bit in high school... he played for one of our rivals. He never played defense but put up like 30 a game

Not quite as exciting as that but I did have to take a cat to the vet and... he was not happy. Fortunately he was just there for some hair grooming for the summer. He's all good now. My hands, they will be eventually.

I loved going to Opryland as a kid, but that's gone now, lol. It got turned into a mall which was my go-to IMAX for years. The Grand Ole Opry is still around and worth checking out, imo, especially if you're into country music.

My go-to BBQ place there is closed now unfortunately, but Martin's BBQ is pretty good from what I remember. At least, they have the white BBQ sauce I prefer (it's an Alabama thing).

EDIT: Also check out Hattie B's Hot Chicken.

i like the alabama white sauce too. i think we are staying close to Martin's and a remember seeing Hattie B's on a map so thanks!

Never tried white BBQ sauce and don't believe it's legal to sell it in California. Does someone have a recipe for it? <add favorite @flickchick85 cooking comment here>. If it makes it to the Kitchen thread, someone might try it. I'm going to make some wings this weekend. I usually use bleu (note sophisticated spelling) cheese or Raunch dressing over fire mouth buffalo sauce.

I’ve never tried any homemade white sauce recipes so I have no idea if any of them hit the mark. But the OG Alabama white sauce is from Gibsons (I preferred a couple local restaurants’ versions over theirs growing up, but theirs was the standard), so I guess that’s what to aim for. That actually doesn't sound too bad.......I think I would probably go slow with the sugar because I'm not real fond of the sweet in "sweet and sour" and wonder if they ever use a little bit of mustard. That might give it a nice taste with the horseradish, vinegar, and lemon.

It's funny I've never heard of this before. My first reaction was "Mayonnaise?", but, all in all, it sounds pretty good.

So anyone else watching Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? where they meet The Kardashians?

Shaggy tells Kim how much he loves her husband's music and Daphne compliments Kendall and Kylie on their looks. Velma actually mentions Caitlin and her philanthropy...
