Superman 2 Casting and Suggestion thread

Would love to see the old Legion of Doom Brainiac in live action. Would love to hear the complaints about how Krypton’s Braniac looks better.

Just the fact we came up with two really strong Superman villains like Brainiac and Mongol just shows a Superman trilogy can work. The best thing about it is you don’t need a water downed Darksied or Zod. Supes for the win……

A good writer could have both mongul AND Brainiac in one film, or several.
They could even tie Lobo in with one or both.
One hires lobo to capture the last two Kryptonians, and the other wants them also.

Awesome interview with the great Mark Waid where he talks about Superman 2025 and what he likes (and maybe some of what he doesn’t like) about the movie, as well as what villains he wants to see in a sequel (BRAINIAC! LISTEN TO THIS MAN, JAMES!). He also mentions another villain I’ve never heard of before but could fit into this conquistador Jor-El narrative they’ve established (an antagonist who believes Krypton destroyed his planet and wants revenge on Superman). Could be a fun secondary deep space villain.

Yeah the Reel Rejects guys were taking about Hall as Brainiac today. They love the idea. I’m for it; I’ve always liked the guy. Sarah Snook is my first choice but honestly I’ll be ecstatic as long as any great actor is cast.

Something like Mongol or Bane would be the obvious choice, but I wont lie that the Dave Bautista as Brainiac suggestion I've seen elsewhere doesn't intrigue me with how it'd be an against-type casting. I guess the only issue being whether or not it would just look like Drax with a bunch of diodes on his head lol.

I’m still shocked we didn’t get Michael Rooker as Bibbo in this movie. Seemed like such a slam dunk to me.

But if Gunn has Rooker playing a different role on Peacemaker, I guess he’s out so… I say David Koechner.

I like Dave a lot and maybe he could pull it off, but it feels like Mongul is his role to lose. He’s just TOO perfect for it. I can’t blame the guy if he’d rather do something else way outside his comfort zone but I mean I feel like he was born to play that character in this universe.

The only other Superman villain I think he could really shine as would be Parasite. Dave can do pretty well playing down-on-their-luck, sympathetic guys and Rudy Jones would be a great opportunity to showcase that, while also pricing a physically intimidating and cool looking villain. But I still think Mongul is his role.

Wow Superman, Supergirl, Krypto vs Brainiac being on the table is an absolute dream come true.

The characters I most wanted to see in the DCU that we didn’t get in the DCEU included Brainiac, Robin, and GL. I’m happy they are more of a priority now

Currently reading House of Brainiac and Gunn can easily incorporate aspects of this book into this movie. I think the biggest inspiration will be Superman: Brainiac (better story overall) but HOB features Lobo and opens with a cool scene of Brainy going full necromancer on a horde of dead Czarnians, which could make for an awesome action sequence. Kara, Livewire and Parasite are also around too (and Lex of course) so I definitely see Gunn borrowing stuff from this book too.

Well I’m hoping for the opposite, so our wishes will cancel eachother out and it’ll be left to the gods to decide Conner’s fate.

I do think he should be a ways down the road, though, so I’m not going to get too invested in a fancast that may well be too old when the time comes.

Yeah I’m kind of meh on Connor but regardless it feels a bit too soon for him.

If Gunn does Super boy I am hoping he does the flashy Hollywood Super boy from the Reign of the Supermen cartoon. He had a good heart but he wanted fame. Hopefully with a little Lex DNA. I never liked the young justice or titans super boy. To me he is boring and for him to have Lex’s DNA he was totally Kal-El to me without the Kents.
