Superman (2025) Rotten Tomatoes Thread

Things I liked:
Martha and Clark
It's not an S
Jor-El and Lois
You are my son
Superman vs Faora (minus the exploding factory)
Chris Meloni and Faora (chemistry off the charts)
Krypton

Things I didn't like:
No Jimmy
Dicksplash
Tornado scene
No Clark the journalist
All downhill after the first kiss
Superman vs Zod
Superman kills Zod
No Clark valuing all living things
Jonathan and Clark
The lack of colors.
Things like no Jimmy (and no Lex, I add) didn't pose a problem for me. It would be okay for Jimmy to simply have not been hired yet at the Daily Planet. He would've made a fun new entry in the sequel, but of course they had to **** it up (and Lex, too, I add).

The lack of colors, while a matter of taste (and while I personally would've preferred a more colorful movie) I could accept, especially considering the well done job Amir Mokri did with the photography. The suit, likewise, I'm not a fan of how medieval and regal it looks (I much more prefer Gunn's "Kirbyesque sci-fi" approach), but I gotta say it looks pretty good, and much better than it does in BVS.

No Clark the journalist falls into the "no Jimmy" category: I get that they were going for "we're building towards the iconic Superman world," which they might have pulled off, had they actually pulled that off in the sequel and embraced more of what fully makes the character, instead of doubling down and stripping away more and more.

Jonathan and Clark works whenever the former isn't in nihilism mode, and the tornado scene is just straight out ridiculous and BAD FILMMAKING.

I haven't seen in a while, but if the first kiss is the one in Metropolis after the destruction, and yet another climax starts, then I definitely agree. The movie is already action-heavy in its second part, and that last climax is BAD (it's just too much, again, and adds nothing) and takes the movie down another notch.

The movie should have ended as originally scripted, with all three Kryptonians ending up in the Phantom Zone again. Simple? A cop out? Deus ex machina? Maybe. But much better than what they ultimately decided to add.

I gotta be honest, I have no idea what a dicksplash is.

P.S.: I definitely would've prefered more wire stunts and practical insert shots during the fight scenes.

The Marvels. :o

My opinion of MoS was I liked parts of it. It really falls apart ironically when Lois says it's all downhill after the first kiss and we get DBZ through Metropolis.
I think the SV fight should have been the final fight. That was pretty much perfect.
By the time we got to the metropolis fight, it had that been there done that feel to it, and then it went on and on and......

I feel like not having the terraforming machine in Metropolis would've undermined the stakes. The script's already flimsy enough. The Metropolis fight just shouldn't have gone on for so long.

Superman would never say that. :argh:

Hell i'm going ALL in on my prediction.

Ride or die.

90+ RT Score.

One of Gunn's all time best films since GOTG1.
You're still around?!

If this gets divisive reviews, I hope you don't become miserable like you were with, uhh, which movie again? BvS? SS? :funny:

Yeah hype for this film reignited my love for DC again.

With that said if this fails i'm Audi. :o

I think there's no denying, based off of embargo breaches and social media chatter, that there is going to be a section of critics and audiences that violently hate this film.

But there's lots of EXTREMELY positive chatter too.

I'm excited. Time will tell.

It will be worth it just to see their meltdowns.
Like I've often said, I don't care about the RT score and it doesn't influence my views on movies.

BUT --- seeing the cult melt down over a great RT score and great box office numbers would be a dream come true!

Correction: the cultS , as the MAGA-anti-woke brigade has now officially joined the movie's haters club

Best case scenario anything I can see this in 70s-mid 80s
Worst case scenario it gets a low score and a high Audience score

I'm one who tends to healthily expect the worst and hope for the best so based on my 2019 trauma of Godzilla King of the Monsters having great initial social reactions like "a little messy but a total blast" only to get rocked on Rotten Tomatoes, I'm going to lowball this and predict Superman to get 60% to 65% fresh. Sincerely want to be dead wrong but I rather be mentally prepared. 😋

I really like Godzilla King of the Monsters. Not as good as Kong: Skull Island tho.

I swear everytime Cavill tries to emote in that movie it looks like he is having feelings related to his bowel movements.

Angry/intense face = constipation

Sad face here = horrified at his own smell

I wonder who's review will show up first.
