Things like no Jimmy (and no Lex, I add) didn't pose a problem for me. It would be okay for Jimmy to simply have not been hired yet at the Daily Planet. He would've made a fun new entry in the sequel, but of course they had to **** it up (and Lex, too, I add).Things I liked:
Martha and Clark
It's not an S
Jor-El and Lois
You are my son
Superman vs Faora (minus the exploding factory)
Chris Meloni and Faora (chemistry off the charts)
Krypton
Things I didn't like:
No Jimmy
Dicksplash
Tornado scene
No Clark the journalist
All downhill after the first kiss
Superman vs Zod
Superman kills Zod
No Clark valuing all living things
Jonathan and Clark
The lack of colors.
The lack of colors, while a matter of taste (and while I personally would've preferred a more colorful movie) I could accept, especially considering the well done job Amir Mokri did with the photography. The suit, likewise, I'm not a fan of how medieval and regal it looks (I much more prefer Gunn's "Kirbyesque sci-fi" approach), but I gotta say it looks pretty good, and much better than it does in BVS.
No Clark the journalist falls into the "no Jimmy" category: I get that they were going for "we're building towards the iconic Superman world," which they might have pulled off, had they actually pulled that off in the sequel and embraced more of what fully makes the character, instead of doubling down and stripping away more and more.
Jonathan and Clark works whenever the former isn't in nihilism mode, and the tornado scene is just straight out ridiculous and BAD FILMMAKING.
I haven't seen in a while, but if the first kiss is the one in Metropolis after the destruction, and yet another climax starts, then I definitely agree. The movie is already action-heavy in its second part, and that last climax is BAD (it's just too much, again, and adds nothing) and takes the movie down another notch.
The movie should have ended as originally scripted, with all three Kryptonians ending up in the Phantom Zone again. Simple? A cop out? Deus ex machina? Maybe. But much better than what they ultimately decided to add.
I gotta be honest, I have no idea what a dicksplash is.
P.S.: I definitely would've prefered more wire stunts and practical insert shots during the fight scenes.
