This is beautiful! And superman looks amazing, it is the series he needs, Smallville series of origin, Lois and Clark series as he knows Lois and was established and now this series that will go one step further, something we have never seen.View attachment 29931 View attachment 29932

I just noticed something in that first photo: Lois and Clark are both wearing rings on certain fingers. As I figured, they not only waited out the birth of their son but also tied the knot in Argo City.

I still find it kind of funny whenever I think about how Superman's character had to wait the longest out of any other character in the Arrowverse when it came to getting his own series after being introduced in someone else's show first.

Flash, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Atom, White Canary, Batwoman, and The Canaries all waited for about little over a year after first being introduced in another show before they were given their own.

None of those were in the movie at the time though. Superman arrived in Supergirl when he was still been played by Cavill on the big screen. You know what WB are like with their silly mandates about who can appear where & when etc. We know also people like Guggenheim have been pushing for it for a while. So now that big screen Supes is on hiatus they’re letting them go ahead while they figure out what to do with him on the big screen. You can also add that the idea for the show wasn’t really around until they introduced Lois in Elseworlds, I think they wanted something different so it wasn’t just new show with Superman, all the same stuff we’ve seen before etc. I’m glad we have the show greenlit cause imagine the gap waiting for the next movie with no live action Superman content.

When Superman and Lois debut, I will look at it as a series of weekly Superman short films than a mere TV series.

Both Lois and Clark and Smallville filled gaps while waiting for Superman movies to come out, though we had Superman Returns that occurred during Smallville's run.

If Superman had the edge over Batman in one area, it was television because Superman has extensive TV history that goes all the way back to George Reeves in the 1950's.

Arguably live action comic book storytelling is better suited to Television anyway. Especially when it comes to Superman he has had more success on TV than he has on the big screen that’s for damn sure.

I’m mega excited about Superman & Lois, having this show now is exactly what I think the character needs. If I had my way we’d be having this & a new movie but Superman on the big screen is a puzzle WB keep f***** up. Hopefully this hiatus will make them realise what they need to do going forward with the character, which is embrace who the character is instead of making him try to fit some sort of trend or style that’s not befitting of him. Hopefully Superman & Lois will deliver a Superman that’s more in line with what the character actually should be. Tbh I think it will as his appearances so far have shown that.

To me, Clark and Lois raising a super tyke sounds like a goofy, Silver Age elseworlds story. :word:

Arguably, it was fine for Supergirl to paint Kal-El (an occasional, supporting character) into this corner. To wit: an extended sabbatical on Argo - with new wife and baby - was a convenient way to explain Superman’s absence (a perennial issue) and establish Kara as Earth’s primary protector. But what was expedient for Supergirl isn’t necessarily the best premise for a hypothetical Superman series. IMO.

But I guess we’re now stuck with this continuity (unless there’s some sort of wacky Crisis “reset”). So…we hope for the best. :cwink:

I honestly couldn’t be happier with the route the series is taking. This is unique territory for Superman in live action to explore. I don’t feel like W like we've been backed into the situation or it’s the best of a worst case scenario at all. I’m absolutely thrilled with we’re we are headed.

Vancouver location confirmed for the pilot shoot.

Good news. I'd hate for them to strand another Arrowverse show so far from the others like Supergirl S1 or Black Lightning S1-3.

So is Vancouver standing in for Metropolis? When are they filming the pilot?

Arguably the best NON-Elseworld run of comics Superman has had in the last couple decades had this premise. It’s not a “corner” they’ve been painted in at all - it’s a whole new world of possibilities that haven’t been explored with the character onscreen yet.

In March! I said it one day that I wish I followed the trajectory of Batwoman in production and so it will be! The pilot was recorded in March as well and in May the first trailer at an event came out

Fall premiere, here we come! :woo:

I really hope they pair SG with this next season. I would LOVE a Supers Night. :D

Would be more interesting than Supergirl and Batwoman on the same night. That show is not very interesting.

Pairing up Batwoman and Supergirl was fine at first, but it wasn't benefitting Supergirl after seeing its ratings.

I agree about a Super night with Superman and Lois and Supergirl as Superman is the bigger draw.

They don't need to imitate past Superman movies and TV as they have 80 years worth of material to draw from, so it's not like the writers have an excuse on what to do.

I saw put Superman and Lois and Supergirl on Mondays and have it compete with WWE Raw!!

I know I shouldn’t get carried away but *touch wood* I don’t think there’s anyway this show doesn’t happen now.

While “Super Sundays” has a nice ring to it. I would prefer it if they didn’t do that, it feels like too much \S/ for one night imo. Although we’re the 2 shows to do a self contained crossover then I can see the benefit. I say keep Supergirl & Batwoman together and pair Superman & Lois with the Flash. Whatever they decide I’ll be fine with but that’s just my preference.

I would certainly hope the two shows would do crossovers. Some of the best Super-stories involve BOTH Supers, and this is a really rare opportunity to actually DO that, and if they don't take advantage of that, it would be a major missed opportunity, imo.

The Flash is their highest rated show. They use that one to help boost the ratings of those that need it. Superman & Lois wouldn't need it. SG could use the boost from the latter, though. Superman/SG crossovers if they're on the same night could then be like 2-hour Superman/Supergirl movies, much like the 1st two eps Superman appeared on of SG feel like when watched together. I'd much prefer that. Doesn't help that Batwoman's an absolute slog and I'm already sick of having to wait through it to get to SG on Sundays now. :funny:

They should put Black Lightning back after Flash like they used to have it, have a Canaries/Batwoman night, and then a Supers Night, imo.

I really hope they do, let’s get Supergirl over to Metropolis. A story I’d like to see is one based on an issue I have from the 80s Supergirl run where Supergirl where they team up to take on the Kryptonite Man.

You make great points actually, and I think maybe the pair ups you’ve suggested would actually be stronger together.

I guess in my mind I was thinking how you change the variety a bit. So you don’t have 2 hours of the same/similar tone which the Supes would likely be as would BW & the Canaries.

Personally I’m loving Batwoman myself.

I’ll grant you this:

From a TV audience perspective, Supergirl is the “original” source material; and a Superman series would be the “derivative” spinoff. Consequently, said Superman series is rather obligated to distinguish itself from the “original” so as not to appear as a mere gender-swapped facsimile. (The irony! :cwink:) And, ostensibly, a married Clark and Lois /w child scenario does provide sufficient novelty and distance from Supergirl. Moreover, given the continuity established, there are few other ways a Superman series could actually proceed. But IMO, this is making a virtue out of necessity. And this is a version of Superman that I’m not especially anxious to explore. (Now maybe if it was Clark and Lois by Aaron Sorkin… But by Berlanti & Co., not so much.)

I gotta ask… what’s your standard for comparison? Because if it’s against something like Mr. Robot, then I concede. Yes, Mr. Robot is superior television - by far. But if it’s against the rest of the Arrowverse - which currently ranges between tedious and near-unwatchable (*coughSupergirl*:ninja:) - then I’m finding Batwoman to be a breath of fresh air.

By my standards of the Arrowverse, BW has been by far the most plodding and “near-unwatchable” thus far. Even against S1 of Supergirl (which I myself have described as near-unwatchable). Different strokes.

Also, have you not read Superman Rebirth? It’s hard for me to imagine someone being so against the basic concept of this show or finding that concept a drag or a hindrance if they had experienced that gem of a series with this exact premise.

Best news ever

Hoechlin deserves it. He’s an incredible Superman. Far superior in execution to Cavill’s wooden, lifeless performance

I’m incredibly hyped
Indeed, a very good actor. But, he has to grow bigger and become more muscular and especially to have the signature s-curl!
