Batman: Arkham Knight - Part 1

It seems the video game world may be mimicking the movie world. Rumors have begun to circulate that Superman will make an appearance in Batman: Arkham Knight (via KDrama Stars).
There has long been a rumor that Rocksteady would like to work on another superhero game once they finished their Arkham story. Superman or the Justice League were always the likely contenders, and would likely be the properties Warner Bros. would push for given the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film and the rumors that it will lead into a Justice League film franchise.

We know that Batman: Arkham Knight will be Rocksteady’s last Arkham game. Rocksteady is also well known for dropping a ton of Easter eggs into their games. The rumor is that the Easter eggs in Arkham Knight will include radio transmissions of news reports covering the exploits of members of the Justice League around the world, confirming their existence in the Arkham video game universe.
On top of that, it’s also rumored that Superman will make an in-person appearance. He will fly into Gotham and offer aid to Batman, which Batman will refuse. The scene sounds almost identical to the cameo appearance made by Robin in Batman: Arkham City.
Of course, this is still all rumor. Even if it is 100 per cent true at this time, there’s still several months before Batman: Arkham Knight’s release for Rocksteady to change their plans. As ever, nothing is confirmed until it’s confirmed.

I don't think this could be 100% right. cause you know there's also the "planning" videogame for Superman. That's why I made this thread.

justice league maybe but not likely we'll see if that is still happening or not or if it was done as to throw off. fans. But they have said flat out no to superman. I have no clue where that came from besides fan want. And them not taking no as answer from Rocksteady cause it was written in an article. Some people don't buy til they see it from the head of the dev studios lips on video. sadly.

The scene in question is based on a similar incident in No Man's Land. If it is a cameo, that is fine. Since this is the last Batman game, I don't want Superman to derail the narrative. Save him for a JL/World's Finest/Trinity game...none of which I will get. The termination of the Bat-games mirrors my interest in WB live action games...unless they do an RPG with the Dark characters or title with another street level enforcer (Question, Green Arrow, and so on.) wing of the tangent is, if this is the last game of its type, it's the lat I will get.

It wouldn't be anything more than a cameo im sure. This series is still about Batman and his villains. Its been that way since Asylum and it won't change under Rocksteady.

I'm buying a ps4 in a couple months, is the slim version coming out anytime soon?

Yes, its called the PS4 and its out now.

Plus with so many people not having a PS4 yet it would be a wise way to get people to buy one.

If only there were a combo pack of a collectors edition and the PS4. I'd be broke, but I'd be happy and busy for quite sometime.

Sefton Hill and Rocksteady have talked about wanting to do a Superman game before.

Superman has never really had that one great game. He's always been a tough nut to crack in the videogame world.

I mean it's tough to make a game about the most powerful superhero out there in this type of format. Batman works a lot better because he has gadgets, not super powers. He's human. He can be hurt by a bullet or a punch. The only thing that can hurt Superman are little green rocks.

But I suppose if anyone can pull it off, Rocksteady can.

I think it is less about that and more about creating the open world environment that a character like Superman needs. For a character that can fly into outer space in seconds it is hard to capture that in a videogame. Maybe with these new consoles it is more plausible to do it. I would love to see a Superman game done right.

That's what I mean. In a modern-day Superman game, how do you feasibly pull off his power set and make it a compelling game. As you said, he can fly into space in seconds and could probably do laps around the sun. So an open world game in say Metropolis--is that not constraining?

Thugs can't really hurt him unless they have some special armaments that are strong enough to hurt a metahuman like Superman.

But I mean maybe Rocksteady can figure it out now. Maybe they can have multiple cities or even PLANETS he can trot to.

I actually thought that the next Arkham game was gonna be Batman vs. the Justice League especially with what happened with the Joker in AC.

Can you imagine a Mr. Freeze style boss fight against Superman? A Copperhead style boss fight against the Flash? Possibly a Deathstroke style boss fight against Wonder Woman?

This is for COMICS, not VG's we have a whole sub for VG's.

I thought they would bring in the justice league too. Oh well, they still might I suppose.

I've said this before in other threads in the past, but I think the secret formula to get a good Superman game is to make it choice-driven. Here are some examples of the choices you are given. Do you(I wouldn't imagine these exact options would happen, but they would have a high enough stake to force the player to step back and think the options through):

a) Stop a bank robbery with 10 hostages in Down-Town Metropolis all orchestrated by Lex Luthor.

b) Stop an Earthquake in Japan that could kill at least 50000 people.

c) Stop Metallo who's attacking the Daily Planet and has Lois and Jimmy at gun-point?

You could only choose ONE option and you explore the consequences of choosing one and what happens if you don't pick the others. I remember an episode of Smallville where Lois realizes one of the biggest challenges of being Superman is that he has to triage his saves. For this hypothetical game you bring that aspect in.

Also you could bring the Clark Kent identity in with his own sub-plot and you could change between identities like how in Arkham City you can change between Batman and Catwoman.

I'm glad they didn't go with this, and won't
The idea is terrible

I would have not liked idea at all It's Batman: Arkham not Justice League: Arkham. If they make a JL game that nothing to do with Arkhamverse then fine I play that.

No Justice Leage, please.

These are Batman games set in the Batman verse, and I want it to stay that way. I like my Batman unmolested by Wonder Woman and Aquaman and all that other BS ( Not to belittle their fans. Nothing wrong with these characters. They just aren't my cup of tea.) And these games are 100% pure Batman through and through. As a Batman fan first and foremost these games have given me a great pure Batman experience. I'd like this game to remain that way.

I could probably stomach Green Arrow showing up tho, because he'd blend with the Arkham world pretty well. An older more grizzled Arrow like in Dark Knight Returns. Not some Smallville style Arrow.

I have no problem with Superman appearing. They already planted the seed with mentioning Metropolis.

I'm welcoming of a cameo. Knowing Rocksteady, they wouldn't allow Superman to derail from it being a Batman game.

I've said this before if they show any thing of the league it'll be a cameo of one character at the very least only and it'll be them calling bat man cause they need him, that'll be all from them. And that will be the most likely end to this series or part of it, after he's done with his villains.

It'll be ether martian man hunter that calls him or super man but if it 's superman he won't show up there to help save the day or if he does show it'll be via boom tube or teleportation devise from wayne tech to pick up bat man after batman has finished things. but it'll most likely on a radio call if it's superman if they don't use martian man hunter. but that's about it.

the thing the are most likely to use are teams that batman had created but I'm expecting them but they are the bat family, the birds of prey, the outsiders and lastly yeah even batman Incorporated. most of the members are ether from Gotham or were members of some thing batman created as organized crime fighting.

And it'll be cool to see Metamorpho of the outsiders throw down with clayface. while batman deal's with the head /cause of the problem.

again I'm not Expecting much of that as them being playable (and that's if they show any of this at all , and I'm not expecting it to happen) if anything the most I can see happening if that were the case is for batman to fight side by side and for the game to give a hint of Batman leading/ coordinating them to hot spots/ area's he can't reach in time around the city via radio talk, if they don't show him head to those area's to side side by side with them. again him doing via radio all while he deals with the actual main problem and ends it. and for there to be a big push to let batman deal with the main problems/ villains hide out/center. while those other deal with the thugs and hench men out side.

that's about it if they were to do that. again not expecting it.

Hmm, did I miss this? Can you refresh my memory about where Metropolis was mentioned?

Arkham Memoirs in Arkham Asylum, one of the stone tablets mention Metropolis

In AC Strange said something like this "Arkham City then Metropolis."
regarding protocol 10

Oh Ok, thanks guys, it's been a while since I've played those first 2 as well so I don't remember geeking out over anything like that :hehe:. Superman making a cameo would be pretty awesome to me.
