Next to Batman: TAS, "Superman: TAS" is still truly greatness! I feel this series ended way too soon. However, in memory of this contemporary classic, I 'd like to see which episode(s) rank as the very best the series had to offer. My top six are as follows..
1) World's Finest (*part 1, 2, & 3*)
2) A Little Piece Of Home
3) The Way Of All Flesh
4) Feeding Time
5) Knight Time
6) In Brightest Day
Let's hear what you other fans have to say.

I love STAS, but the only choice of yours I agree with his World's Finest. My ranking goes like this.

1. Brave New Metropolis
2. World's Finest
3. Legacy
4. Akropolis Now.
5. Toy Story
6. Blast from the Past

Dark Horse: Little Girl Lost, Knight Time, and Monkey Fun

Worse Episode: Father's Day and Superman's Pal.

Every real Superman doesn't like STAS. It's only purpose was to be a prequel to "Justice League". Superman was so dumb and weak in this series, it wasn't even funny.

Please go and watch the Fliescher (sp) cartoons, and read pre-crisis comics. This is a thread for FANS of STAS not pre-crisis fanboys who don't like STAS.

And to correct you...Justice League was planned after Batman Beyond...not STAS. Go ask Bruce Timm.

I don't remember the name but when Darkseid killed that guy with his omega beams and probably my favorite moment is in the episode where Clark Kent 'died' and then when the guy was about to be gassed he figured out that Clark Kent = Superman

Both great episodes. The first one you've mentioned was entitled, "Apokolips...Now"/ part 2. This is where Darkseid kills police detective, Dan Turpin. This character was fashioned after the late great Jack Kirby as a tribute. The very end of the episode pays homage to Jack in memory of. The other episode is entitled, "The Late Mr. Kent". (*at least I believe that is what this episode was titled*) Anyway, as you've mentioned, great ending.

A few of those are also favorites of mine. "Brave New Metropolis" and "Blast From The Past". There's just so many memorable episodes it's really hard to pick just one. Classic show!

Your thoughts on Superman the animated series?
I personally think he is too weak. I have seen him get his butt handed to him by pretty much every super villian they put in there. Plus he doesnt really use his head. He is very careless in battle. The story lines are good for the most part but I would like to see the "real" Superman.

Can't remember the name of the episode but, the one with aquaman.

My favorite is the one where Brainiac first comes to Earth. Forgot the exact title. (Stolen Memories? Was that it?). I loved the shows Brainiac. Making him the Kryptonian computer was a great idea. It gave them such a personal conflict that made all his episodes great.

It's interesting. I never really found Braniac all that interesting until I watched this episode. I really loved their take on him as well. Bruce Timm, being the comic afficiendo that he is, originally fought against the idea of changing Braniac's origin tale, making him the living computer of Krypton. However, Timm, as well as myself, am glad that they went with this creative choice. Actually, although I've always been a Superman fan, I've always been impressed with the way they "revamped" many of the villians for this show. (*Toyman was always fat and lame in the books. Here he came across as quite creepy*) Many people speak only of Batman:TAS or Justice League with reverence. However, as great as both those shows are I still believe that Superman: TAS still stands on it's own and is still one of the most underated animated shows of all-time.

Superman TAS isn't really good, it's average work. The Brainiac origin was lame. And where was Koko? Colu is cooler :hehe:

I see you just support anything that is pre-crisis for the heck of it...even when it is totally stupid.

charl, everyone here on the Hype has the right to voice their opinion. Just because this is a TAS thread, doesn't mean that people who hate it are obligated to keep their mouths shut.

That said I absolutely love TAS. I grew up watching the Timm DCAU cartoons so they have a very, very special place in my childhood. I really love the stuff involving Darkseid the best.

I agree, they did a fabulous job taking some of the lamer aspects of Superman's villains away and doing interesting stuff with them. Timm's Brainiac is actually my favorite version of the character, and I have always been a fan of Brainiac.

Fish Story. I enjoyed that one, Miguel Ferrer did a great job with Aquaman's voice (I couldn't help thinking of this Aquaman when I heard Ferrer doing the Martian Manhunter's voice in New Frontier).

I agree with NUFFSAID2004, it's a shame the solo Superman series always get ignored while there's nothing but love for Batman:TAS and Justice League. Talk about "middle child" syndrome.

No, thats because BTAS is excellent work, JL was quite good but STAS is AVERAGE! There was no love for Superman in this show.

JL started slow, but starting hitting a stride starting with Legends. Batman: TAS is clearly the best of the bunch to me, but I agree Superman gets no love here. Timm did interesting things with his rogue gallery (even the lamer villains) and made quite a fine show. I love this show personally

The Superman show definitely has middle child syndrome when it comes to the Bruce Timm shows.

But I love it very much... and is quite possibly my favorite mainstream approach to the character.

Stolen Memories was always one of my favorites.

The FLeischer cartoons and the Ruby Spears Superman are worlds better than this "okay let's do Superman if we have to"-STAS.

Well...some of the Colu stuff is ridiculous, but that is my opinion. One thing to note is during pre-crisis, Brainiac wasn't that popular. It was his "re-introduction" during STAS that defined him for this generation.

Anyways, I understand TrueToC...he's like me with my "absolute" hate for SR :cwink: :woot:

Crusaders unite.... :wow:

HERE, HERE!!!

Except not against this show. I love this show. One of my faves.
