I've been saying for years that Smallville needs to blatantly steal this episode from the Animated Series and bring it to life in Smallville. This is a tailor-made idea from the Animated creative team, kinda how all there idea's are tailor made for a movie.

In this episode, Braniac travels back in time to kill Clark Kent as a teenager in Smallville before he becomes Superman. A new group of younger heroes follow suit and help the young Man of Steel save the day, and before they leave they wipe his memory so he never knows it happened, which would save the mystery for Clark, because know one should know there own destiny. You could even place the episode in a different part of the Smallville timeline, like during season one or two. You could reference things that were going on at the time, like it could take place directly after Clark gets his powers back from Eric Summers or after Alicia Baker goes crazy. You could use this as an oppurtunity to bring back John Schneider and O'Toole for guest spots, Marsters could be in the episode as well. It would be a real cool idea, and I'm sure fans of the Animated Series will agree with me

Sounds good, but I think it would be too expensive.

Sounds like a neat idea, especially the part about taking back even further into the series. Like maybe Brainiac tries to catch Clark at a more vulnerable point in his life, and thus takes us back to a point in the earlier seasons. Could be fun, with bringing back guest star characters, old hairstyles and everything. :p

How about an episode where Clark relives certain moments again & again. The episode can start with him waking up & looking for Lana & he is actually back in time around the time when he was human & him & Lana were shagging like no one has ever shagged before only this time before Clark opens the bedroom door to shag Lana time goes backwards to when he originally woke up & time will flow normally as long as he does not try to enter the door to go & shag Lana & eventually Clark goes nuts & tries his hardest to avoid Lana but Lana keeps throwing herself at him & when Clark gives in time restarts back to the original bed waking up time. :wow:

P.S. - I may or may not have stolen this idea from a Stargate SG-1 episode (the certain time repeating itself bit) & the twist here is he is back in time

yes, it has been said for millions years. But I think we all have to face the fact that, if CW/WB decided to do some plagerism on itself, and steal this wonderful story from TAS, they would butcher it beyond all recognition, and make possibly the worst episode of Smallville ever.

The idea is great. And i've been sayin it since the very first season started. At first it was a good idea... but as I have matured into a more level headed adult... I've come to the realization, that once cw, wb gets all their dirty little hands on it. They'll try to weave in some ridiculous overly melodramatic subplot, that will just murder the whole point of the episode, and ruin it.

That is life with SV. Moreover, they'd probably hire 3 of the most idiotic teen actors that fit the roles, but who have no acting skill, which is a horrible trend that smallville clings to.

again, the idea is sound, the excecution of this episode would be a total disaster.

IMO

I was just talking to a friend about Smallville doing an episode called "Legion" in which three superheroes from the future (named Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy) venture back in the past to tell Clark about Brainiac's plan to kill him. The three Legionaires appear during a time in Season 7 (or 8) but take Clark back further in time. Some of their scenes would be digitally re-inserted into episodes from Seasons 1 and 2 (kind of like "The Trouble w/ Tribbles" from DS9 or Back to the Future 2) but most of the episode would be Clark and the Legion tracking Brainiac in the "background" of episodes from past seasons, though occasionally interacting with special guest stars John Schneider, Sam Jones III, Eric Johnson and Annette O'Toole. :D

interesting idea, i would watch it!

This was one of the best epsiodes from S:Tas It was so cool. I would love to see this done.

That would be a great idea, but expensive...

I'm not sure they'd be able to do it justice unless they do an interesting Smallville twist to it.

Which idea? The "Trouble With Tribbles" idea?

Agreed. Though they could minimize the scenes in which they'd have to digitally reinsert Clark and co. My idea is basically taking Clark and the Legionnaires through "Off-screensville" of classic SV eps like the Pilot, Rosetta and Exile. There'd be a lot of funny scenes like having Pete (Sam Jones has not aged a day since Season One) bumping into Future Clark and commenting on how big he is. (Maybe dialog like "Whoa Clark! Somebody ate their Wheaties this morning!") It could be a fun episode!

The Smallville twist would be to cast some hot, young actors in the roles of Lightning, Saturn and Cosmic (maybe for SV we'll drop the -Lad, -Girl and -Boy monikers). :)

any 'smallville' twist added to the outline of the TAS Epi, will kill it. And again, the cartoon will be better than the live action... as is the norm with most and any DC/WB properties. I think it's a safe observation to make that Batman Begins, has really been the only live action DC property that has been better than it's preceding cartoon. The Batman< Batman TAS < Batman Begins. Superman TAS > SR = Smallville (SR was good, but when I take a step back, they are equally craptastic)

I think if they made this a special movie event for Smallville it would work.

I think it would be an interesting idea. With Brainiac coming back later and the Legion playing an important role in the life of Superboy, it seems logical to do a similar storyline.

I'm not sure exactly how expensive it would be. I mean, Justice featured four super-characters. If they made Legion (or whatever) the "big" episode of whatever season it appeared in, then there's no reason it wouldn't be do-able.

Only so long as it was just one episode, though. I don't care to see Legionnaires hanging around for seven episodes, as guest stars are wont to do these days.

Ok First off The title of the episode is called New Kids In Town

Second this isn't such a bad Idea for an episode for "SMALLVILLE"

Also for those of you who didn't know this is the episode Clark first wore The Glasses .

Also I love the comments Clark makes When Saturn Girl gives him a pair of Glasses & Chameleon Boy shows him his adult self as SUPERMAN .

Clark: (looking for a disguise) Like a pair of glasses is going to fool anyone.

Clark: (After seeing his future costume) Red underpants? Now I know you're crazy!

I just had another thought.

I believe Braniac should have been introduced to Smallville using the time travel concept, but not based on this STAS episode. Braniac should have simply uploaded himself into his past self and came to Smallville to kill Clark, making him a season long big bad in the process. You even plant the seed in the season beforehand with Clark hearing the screams of dying planets in his sleep, and then they would stop with Braniac in route to Earth!

Hmm I think they would have to pay off the writers for the episode News Kids in Town

Maybe not......it wouldn't have the core elements of that episode, just Braniac uploading his neural net into his past self. And like I suggested, you could have planted the seed in the previous season.

This would also give Clark the ability to defeat Braniac once and for all, almost like full on Superman story wrapped up into Smallville!

Hmm I think they would have to pay off the writers for the episode News Kids in Town

Why? The S:TAS episode itself is just based on an old Superboy comic. So why would Smallville producers have to "pay" S:TAS producers if they're basing their shows on the same source material (a source material that happens to be from a sister company, btw).
That's the luxury of WB owning DC Comics. They have access to a variety of stories that they can feel free to adapt whenever they want. All the "embargo" nonsense is just self-imposed. There's nothing preventing WB from adapting any comic story in a legal or financial standpoint.

Hmm I think they would have to pay off the writers for the episode News Kids in Town

Wasnt the episode All Shook Up an adaption of a Comic Book story? I'm pretty sure it was, and for the reasons that Raku mentioned above, it would seem likely that Lois & Clark didnt have to make any pay offs for that episode.

My gosh, I've been saying this for years. Would've been perfect for the earlier seasons. Ironically, they're running a story similar to this in Action Comics right now.

oh! oh! ohowaaa! the right stuff! lol
