I view the Nolan-verse as an elseworlds version of Batman.

BTAS is the version I find definitive. It successfully nails everything I love about Batman and his world.

The Nolan movies have ruined the popularity of Batman 89 and Nicholson is now less credited as the Joker by the mainstream audience because of Ledger. It's a shame.

I think plenty still like what Nicholson did with Joker, just because a new version is good it doesn't make the old one bad.

Superman. It was unprecedented in giving a generally "straight" interpretation of superhero/comic-book fantasy on film. Maybe the Green Hornet TV show was another, for TV, though..

Tell that to the chorus of "he's too old, too fat, past his prime, Jack just playing Jack..", etc.

Superman the Movie is still the greatest superhero film ever.

The scope and ambition of the film, as well as the ingenuity of both creating a new genre and new ways of creating special effects, make it a landmark movie.

I find STM to be largely overrated, honestly. A good movie, but very overrated.

In any case, I gotta go with Batman '89 here simply based on nostalgia. I have fond memories of watching it with my parents practically every weekend. And it was fun to watch every single time...hell, it still is.
