World Superman: The Ultimate Collector's Edition

This boxset looks rad as f**k, anyway here is my problem w/ it-

STM gets a massive 4 disc treatment, but the films I am most interested in- Supes III & IV get minimal treatment.
What I really wanted know was how III & IV four where made, w/ new docus about them and ALSO I really wanted to see the original 120mins plus cut of Superman IV so that film makes more sense.
Ok we get some deleted scenes, but as it is Superman IV don really make much sense to watch as it is so highly edited.

That should all be covered in the "You Will Believe" documentary; they cover the making of ALL the films

Most of the Superman 4 stuff that was cut was ordered destroyed by Canon films after they realized that they were not going to be making a Superman 5. So that is why. I am not sure if Canon still owns all the making of stuff either and is holding out on Warner's for more money. I wonder if they did it as they didn't want the WB or creditors to take ownership of the stock and make Superman 5 with it. It would have been funny if the same bank that had taken over MGM in the 90's had taken the rights over and made their own S5 if they would have made a good film. The films that they put into production and oversaw where some of the most money making films MGM had for a long while (Goldeneye and Stargate, and a few others) They really made sure that money was not going to be spent unless the stories were good and the talent was good. They had films sent back for re-writes until they thought it was good. Kind of wish they could have taken over more studios. When they sold it again, MGM went in the dumper again.

I'm debating on whether or not to get this or go with the King Kong Deluxe Extended Edition & The Punisher Director's Cut. I already have the King Kong 2005 2 disc set & the first Punisher 2004 dvd but I hardly ever watch them anymore so it would be a waste of money to buy those over again. I don't have any of the Superman movies on dvd although I was only planning to buy Superman Returns from the beginning. Any advice as to what I should do?

Will the discs in the set come in Amaray cases or digipack type packaging that folds out?

I am DEFINITELY getting this for Christmas. AWESOME!!!

Question: Inside the tin cover are there the disc of each movie or the individual boxes of each movie? What I'm trying to say is do we get also get each movies box inside the tin box or just the discs?

We're getting the discs and not the boxes...in a plastic casing that is are like pages....think the Simpsons seasons...the later ones

The set looks cool, but for the price one has to pay it looks like they could have done a whole lot better with packaging the dvds. Individually packing the movies in separate cases would have made the set seem huge but it would have provided extra protection for the dvds themselves. My biggest fear is that the discs would have an adverse reaction from being kept in the metal tin & that they would no longer work properly over the course of time.

I know what you mean, Jimbo. I kinda wanted a set with the name Chris Reeve collection. But now I guess Im going to stick with the UC in tin box. Since donner cut and SR are included.

Could someone please tell what Superman #7 is about? I was searching for a synopsis, but couldn't find anything.

is it me or does Superman 1 not look like it's worth buying - it's like the original disc, plus a shorter version and a whole bunch of Max cartoons...

That tin box looks like a huge chunk of dough I'll have to save up.

I think it's worth it because the original soundmix being converted to Dolby Digital is great news! The vintage Making-of special should be great as well and remember that the Max Flesicher cartoons are totally remastered...may still be in Mono, but I'm sure they will look beautiful

Actually the book form of DVD holding works quite well, if it's done right. WB has it right, here. Like if it's one disc per page with another disc on the reverse side of that page, that's the right way...but if it's like the Ultimate Matrix Collection, it's the wrong way...They had two discs per film and in each movie case they had the discs semi-layering on top of each other which made it so every time you opened it the top one would fall out. But the plastic casing should hold really well and should not effect the performance of the discs...and if you're worried about the the tin effecting it, remember the tin is on the outside on top of cardboard(I don't know what the material is) box holding the booklet

Yeah, because I was thinking about buying the Christopher Reeve collection, Donner's cut and Returns all separately, because although the Ultimate collection tin has more extra features, I can't help but feel that some of it is just filler material. Also what about when the sequel to Returns comes out?

These tins are going to be a limited edition, and once they're gone, they're gone.

I'll be buying this set, and Supes I & II/DC and Returns on Blu-Ray. Supes III & IV, won't be out for a while on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray.

dude, wtf are you posting?... all im getting are errors...

Oh, I'll have to get The Ultimate Collection then! :yay:

I would get both the king kong ee and the superman ultimate set.

What is the deal with the 5 reproduction SM movie posters offer that comes with the set? Will they be free & all you have to do is send off for them, or will you have to pay a small price for each of them & or shipping & handling to get them?

But now I've just found out that The Ultimate Collection doesn't come out until the 4th December, whereas The Christopher Reeve Collection comes out this Monday, on the 20th November.

...And I want to get the Donner Cut as soon as it comes out! So what do I do now?
