World Superman: The Ultimate Collector's Edition

has anyone noticed any problems with picture or sound quality on any of the discs, have just pre-ordered from amazon.co.uk only to discover later on something on the superman cinema website, some fan complaining that the picture quality on the expanded version of superman the movie wasn't as good as that of the theatrical version, that there were things like red hues appearing, shadows, flickers and pops, anyone notice any problems with the picture on any of the discs?

Well I haven't got the Ultimate Collection, instead I bought the Christopher Reeve Collection, but mine seems fine.

I noticed that the theatrical cut was more brighter than the expanded 2001 cut included in the tin set.

And my 2001 DVD from years past is more remastered than the one included in the tin set.

I called the 800 number on Dec 1 and the lady took my name and address, told me I would get a pre-paid envelope in the mail, she sounded nice.

Aside from the wrong S3 disc, (I don't care about the 1978 sound on STM) I'm quite happy with the tin set.

If others were smart they can just buy the CR set and SR and Donner cut seperately, unless you want the tin set for the bonus discs.

I just got mine. Its has the same problems most of them have.
I have to find if and how I can get them to send me replacement disc here in Greece. I e-mailed Amazon.com to see if they can handle it.

I was going to get the tin set for Christmas, but now I'm likely to wait. I don't feel like dealing with replacement discs. I still want that set, though.

Does anyone know when new, fixed copies of the set will be shipping?

It's wiser to wait for two months. It's not as if the tin will suddenly drop from existence.

Well...after a week of patience, almost ALL the stores in my area have the set. Only now for $79.99. :cmad:

I think i'm just gon' Amazon it...at least there its only $74.99 plus Free Shipping.

I did want to buy it, but now I'm having a lot of mixed emotions about it...

WB finally shipped out my set... As for people, I gave everyone an awesome deal a couple of pages back, the tin set for $57, I don't know why more didn't take advantage of that....,

Hey when did you place your order? Mine was on 12/01 but I havent gotten a shipping notice. Did they send you one? I wonder if the delay in shipping is because we'll be getting the newer sets with corrected discs? "fingers crossed"

does anyone here know what richard donner's preferred version of superman 1 is? is it the theatrical or the expanded?

It took a week and 2 days for them to ship it out, so I order it on the 27th, it sucks I know... But considering the price is only 10 dollars more than the reeves collection, and you get so much more it's worth the wait, when they throw in free shipping as well...

Does anyone know what percentage of the sets have the error disks? If I buy one, is it for certain that it will have the problem?-Tho

They've stopped producing it. Once they all get bought, that's it. Finito.

That's what you think. No company kills its cash cow.

I believe it is the 2001 version as he supervised it and put those scenes back into the movie. He did not have a chance to test his movie due to the Salkind's B.S., so he was cutting stuff out that he thought maybe audiences wouldn't like. In the commentary on the added scenes, he is constantly commenting on (paraphrasing) "why did we take this stuff out? This stuff is great. We should have left it in. I have no idea why I took it out." So from that, it is the 2001 expanded version.

Donner may prefer the extended cut, but I'm pretty sure he's proud of both versions.
