i wonder if anyone else remembers this....
after the box-office failure of Superman IV: The Quest for Cheap Effects, the Salkinds regained control of the franchise for a period of time, and were looking into doing a Superman V , pitting Superman against Braniac, who would shrink and depower the Man of Steel, and place him into the Bottle City of Kandor....they wanted to bring back a reluctant Christopher Reeve as Superman, but toyed with the idea of replacing the rest of the cast, from Lois ,to Jimmy,to Perry...eventually,the idea died after Reeve refused, and the Salkinds planned to make Superman: The New Movie with Gerald Christopher graduating from his role as Superboy in the TV show to full-fledged SuperMAN in a motion picture...that,too,died quickly....
part of me REALLY wishes that this movie had been made! might've been the fitting, final tribute to Chris Reeve's portrayal of the Man of Steel, rather than the ending we got left with...but i wonder : after the commercial and critical flop of S4,would anyone have even cared?!
