SUPERNATURAL Season 8! - Part 1

I think they mean exorcism lol! By curing a demon, not turning him into what he was before (A human soul).

I wonder why they stopped using the dark grainy filter from earlier seasons. I think season two was the last time and maybe some of four but it definitely got brighter and brighter and that kinda took some of the gritty look away needed for a horror show.

Could be any number of reasons; like budget or maybe changed from using film to digital. You'd probably have to ask the DP or a producer to get an answer.

A few reasons:

Budget increase allowed them better cameras, and better cameras process light better which leads to a more vibrant image. May have had some DP changes as well. I've heard that Gamble wanted a more vibrant image and went for that but don't quote me.

they've exorcised demons from human hosts in the past. i think curing a demon will be completely different since the brothers have never heard of it before.

Still the same DP.

Actually I like it better now tbh! It looks much better.

I dunno, sometimes it looks too bright and cheesy a little.

Haha, I like agents Ford & Hamill in season one.

Christian Kane to guest on SPN!?

By the way, talked to Jensen & he's gonna work on the writers to grab me something on Supernatural. Not used to getting my ass kicked but... - CK via Twitter

Him and Sam could spend an episode whipping their hair back and forth against a strong wind. In slow-mo.

There haven't been nearly enough Whedon actors on SN lately. So I'd approve.

I could definitely see him as a hunter on this show.

I started rewatching S1-S7, damn, so well executed from the beginning and it just got better afterwards! ;)

Edit: the boys are so different haha if you compare to now, when they are more mature and went through a lot of rough experiences (Sam in the Cage, Dean in Hell etc).

Btw, S01, Ep12 called "Faith". Why can't they show Reapers like that one anymore? I know the show's budget is not enormous but God I'm sure they'd have for some make up!

I never was a huge fan of Tessa for example, she doesn't come off as creepy at all, not in look nor in attitude! And the Reaper from Taxi Driver, BIG LOL! No comment there.

PS: check this out :D

Tessa is meant to be a homage to Death from Gaiman's Sandman series, so she's not meant to be creepy. Reapers can alter perception, it's a lot easier to get a soul to come with them to their final destination if they don't look like this:

Barring Tessa and Ajay, the other reapers shown have looked fairly creepy.

Eh forget that man, the Reaper should just carry the soul and take it, it doesn't need to look like a puppy so the soul would think "aaaawww so cute, faak this World I'm going with teh doggy!:D"( It's only an excuse for them to show more creatures/spirits as HUMANS)! It's supposed to entertain us ffs!

Now THAT was awesome, first episode, season 2! It's great how they showed that Reaper!

Yeah the reapers shouldn't even coax the soul. They should just collect it like a debt and take it where it is going. That being said I get the budget limitations, and it works the way it is.

They stopped in season two and then the network wanted SPN to have brighter lighting for season three, but when the producers weren't into the idea anymore they slowly went back to a more darker look...but there was a change again, and I want to say it happened around season five where things looked brighter again, but I could be wrong.

In the last episode, Dean spoke to a Neil I think? About Garth's whereabouts...he could show up as that Neil guy(if I'm saying the name right).

The Reaper in "Faith" could be explained that since he was binded to work with the minister's wife, that he was rotting and that's why he had that physical look to him.

And Reapers can have any form they want...the Reaper in "Taxi Driver" isn't a huge mistake when they could easily be looked at as regular human beings.

That reminds me...am I the only one who thinks Garth being MIA was foreshadowing something? It just seemed odd to me they mentioned that.

I think the actor was busy filming Legit when these episodes were filmed. Mentioning him just shows that the show runners intend to keep the character alive for future episodes. If his death is coming. It's going to be off screen which would suck.

But why not just have the actors pretend they're talking to him? It's not like they need him there for that.

That was actually the plan originally, after his first "appearance" in he was slated to die off-screen in season seven via Leviathan. But Sera Gamble nixed that, that's how Garth was finally brought on board Supernatural. I don't see them killing him off anytime soon, maybe if they get to season ten to raise the stakes for a series finale, but that's it.

Anyone notice how their new allies seem to be goofballs lately? Capable allies, but still goofballs. Charlie, Kevin and Garth. Maybe you can count Becky too, I dunno. Just something I noticed. It'd be nice to have some more serious characters, but that's just me
