Superman Returns Surpassing the Original

i think this'll be a better movie than the original, and certainly better than (the highly overrated) superman II.

honestly, the best thing the original had going for it was Reeve, and his performance is way dated now. this version will have a better Luthor, obviously better action/fx, better Lois (although that's up for debate) etc...

Okay heres something Ive realized from the Documentary.

For the past 30 years (ever since the original) everything superman-related in a live action format has been pure crap.

Its been a major downward spiral.

That being said, Returns has potential to finally turn it all around and redeem Superman.

If it can even maintain the greatness of the original while spawning sequels that continue and grow on that, thats definately surpassing the entire Chris Reeve franchaise.

STM Lois is the worst female lead in a sci-fi flick in the history of film and there isn't a close second. I've never wanted to watch a chick die on screen more in my life; Both when I saw it in its time and even more when I watch it now.

This movie will surpass the original, which is far from timeless and painstaking to watch by today's standards. I don't say that too much about 're-imagined' franchises (even though this film is technically a sequel) but practically anything half-decent will be more watchable than Donner's film.

I just hope that after Smallville Ends (more then likely the 6 Season) they do not do a new Superboy Live Action Show starring the Kid from the Movie
