Marx doesn't seem to be around tonight so I suppose I'll have to step up and do the work. :argh:

So far not much has been revealed, here is what we know:

- The season will take place in the Philippines (duh!)

- There will be three tribes

- Each tribe will have one former player who evacuated from the game for medical reasons

Well, discuss away! Who do you expect the returning players to be? My money is on Mike Skupin from Australia, Russell Swan from Samoa and Colton.

Interestingly, Probst told E! in his post show interview that Colton's revelation that he did not really have appendicitis may mean that he exaggerated his condition and quit the game rather than being a legit evacuee. Probst also said that he feels that the audience does not want Colton back and that he is not a villain you love to hate but rather just a mean person and that Colton would really have to work hard to convince him to bring him back.

Of course, this may just be Probst trying to cover up the twist.

Mike and Russell deserve another shot; Colton does not. I think if he does come back, whoever is on his tribe will probably target him (at least I hope they will)...much like Russell was targeted when he returned. Unless the producers stack the tribes again, I can't see him going far.

I don't thin a tribe in the world would rally behind Colton. This isn't a super dominant player like Rob or Coach or Russell who despite having alienating personalities and being strategic villains can bring a lot to the game and thus tribes rally around them.

Interestingly, Probst also said in his E! interview that he doesn't consider Colton to be a "Survivor villain," but rather just a rude kid....Probst really doesn't seem to like or respect him and that can make a huge difference in casting. It is the reason that Johnny Fairplay will not be brought back again (he and Probst got in a huge fight at a post-finale party) and the reason why Brian Heidik will not be coming back. If Probst dislikes Colton, he can kiss his shot at a second chance goodbye. Of course, Jeff is crafty. He may just be trying to throw people off of his scent.

Bringing back second string all-stars is an interesting move. They're proven to deliver but haven't been overexposed like Boston Rob, Rupert, Russell etc.

I'm pretty sure the third person is
not Colton but Jonathan Penner, who was an awesome snarky jerk in his two seasons.

They're not all second stringers....Michael was on a path to winning the game before his injury. A couple have already played multiple times. This is the list of people who have been medically removed from the game:

Michael Skupin (Australian Outback: faceplant in fire)
Bruce Kanegai (Panama: bowel obstruction)
Gary Stritesky (Fiji: challenge injury/insect bites)
Jonathan Penner (Micronesia, knee injury infection)
James Clement (Micronesia: finger injury infection)
Joe Dowdle (Tocantins: challenge injury)
Mike Borassi (Samoa: challenge injury)
Russell Swan (Samoa: dehydration)
Kourtney Moon (One World: challenge injury)
Colton Cumbie (One World: "appendicitis")

This isn't exactly the most dynamic list of players. You have Jonathan and James but both have already had multiple chances. James has had three. I really don't think he should be given a fourth (especially considering he has already played again since his medical removal...was removed in Micronesia, played in Heroes vs. Villains). Jonathan is a good enough player, but he has already had two chances but if it isn't Colton, my guess is it will be him.

Russell and Michael are the only two dynamic players/personalities on that list who have not had a second chance. I'd be curious to see how Michael plays as he never really played in the "modern era," (with immunity idols).

I think it will be Russell, Michael and either Jonathan or Colton.

I'm feeling the same way. Probst doesn't seem to like Colton. That is a big deal when it comes to casting. Plus I think Jeff has some questions as to whether Colton exaggerated his condition, that would make him a quitter and Probst doesn't respect quitters at all, he has a rule of never giving them a second chance. The only reason I am not sold on it being Penner is the fact that he has already played twice. It is also important to note that PRobst and the producers LOVE James, so giving him a fourth shot wouldn't surprise me either

Well, we can rule Kourtney out. She just beat cancer. I doubt her doctors will clear her to go out of their supervision for 40 days, so soon after cancer treatment. They'll want to keep her under close watch for signs of a relapse.

That's fantastic news about Kourtney..."Survivor" has a whole new meaning for her!

Apparently there are Twittiots out there that have been following Colton's every move and post since One World started and they said there's been no break in his postings and appearances, so I'd say it's safe to say he's not in Survivor Philippines.

Probst did say on his blog that he's sure Colton will be back in the future and that he'd probably play the same way. Strange that he would make that comment given Probst's obvious dislike of Colton. You would think, given his pull with the show, that if he didn't want Colton back, then he wouldn't be back.

Looking forward to the new season (as always).

Yeah, apparently it has already filmed or is in the process of filming as EW has an on-set interview with Probst from the Philippines. It is definitely going to be some combination of Mike, Russell, James and Jonathan.

Anyway, Jeff Probst on Philippines:

Next season is going to be a return to GREAT Survivor. I really believe we will remind the audience of how fun Survivor can be. I think this season was a bit of a letdown. No fault of the Survivors, we are the producers. We just didn’t have the standout moments and characters needed for a great season. We do next season. See ya sooon!

Good of him to own up that One World was disappointing. I really do think that One World was the perfect **** storm. The strategic aspect was eliminated on day one when Matt did not realize that five, not four is the majority of nine. That basically removed all chances for any player who could have been a threat to Kim and could have created real strategic drama. Colton's misfit alliance were misfits for a reason. They were weak players. Colton can brag all he wants that the girls wouldn't have dominated if he stayed, but they would have. Colton would've flipped (he made it clear from day one that it was his plan), they would've used him in the same way that they used Tarzan then booted him just as quickly.

It doesn't help that Kim was easily one of the top three Survivor players of all time. Perfect games aren't fun to watch in Survivor. We want drama and shakeups. Probst keeps comparing her to Boston Rob. That is an insult to Kim. Boston Rob needed four games and the support of the production team to win. Kim dominated her first time through. She is up there with Hatch and Heidik. The problem is, unlike those two, her dominance isn't as fun to watch as she isn't that charismatic or entertaining. But she played a tremendous game none the less.

Well that's good news. I've watched the show since the third episode of the first season and I nearly quit watching for the first time this year because of Colton. In fact, had he not gotten eliminated in the very episode that he did I had plans not to watch the next week, that's how close it came.

...all this means is that Colton's vile face will be on my tv screen again. :down

Nah, they've already started (and maybe completed) filming. Dalton Ross published an interview on EW.com that was given on location in the Philippines. Colton has actively tweeted since before One World began. So that takes him out of the running. It will be probably be some combination of Russell Swan, James, Penner and Mike.

Interesting news about Colton. Watching the reunion show, I kind of thought he might be in for sure. Basically, give him a chance to redeem himself and not look like the giant, human turd he appears to be.

I feel like Probst really does get the difference between a villain that the audience loves to hate and Colton. I think Probst is reluctant to bring him back for that very reason (and the fact that he doesn't seem to particularly like Colton).

The cast is here:

Ehhh

Interesting cast, I guess. They all seem interesting at the beginning, although I'm not sure I like the celebrities being included (Blair does still look pretty good for her age, though).

I'm already a big fan of Katie's :cwink:

No mention of the returning players...

Over all this cast doesn't thrill me though that's pretty much par for the course at the start of any season. As for the "celebs" I've never heard of them before so they are just like any other players as far as I´m concerned.

Not to take any thunder away from this thread or season since it hasn't even started yet but next season......(beware, spoilers)

Is Fans vs. Favorites 2. The Favorites coming back are:

Andrea Boehlke - Survivor Redemption Island
Brenda Lowe - Survivor Nicaragua
Corinne Kaplan - Survivor Gabon
Dawn Meehan - Survivor South Pacific
Francesca Hogi - Survivor Redemption Island
Brandon Hantz - Survivor Redemption Island
Erik Reichenbach - Survivor Micronesia/Fans vs. Favorites 1
John Cochran - Survivor South Pacific
Malcolm Freberg - Survivor Philiphines
Phillip Sheppard - Survivor Redemption Island

I'm calling shenanigans on that list. I doubt most of those players would be considered favorites. Shoot, one of them was the first booted from their season.

The next season is already in the can filming wise, the list has been leaked for a while now.
